Yeah... I probably should have said United Kingdom. Or is that just as bad?

Nope, thats fine for Barbosa, but not for Blade. If you want to be safe just say Britain/The British isles. The weirdest one is Ireland the island has two countries within it. Northern Ireland which is part of the UK and Eire (or the Republic of Ireland) which is not.

I don't claim to be a grammar expert - a recent BBC quiz kicked my ass, in fact - but I noticed, in this round, a lot of confusion of "your" and "you're". I'm sure you guys know the difference - if you really don't, PM me and I'll be happy to explain - so I'm assuming it's just a proofreading issue. I'm sure I make similar mistakes too, and I don't always proof as much as I should, but know that, for me at least, every time I see it it drags my opinion of your RP down that much.

Whenever you bring up grammar, I always get super paranoid and have to read over my RP a few more times even though it's already posted...

I much prefer saying Republic of Ireland instead of Eire, but some people just won't that language die.

I think calling it Eire is fine but I think a lot of minority languages will die thanks to the internet (isn't it great!)

Or British oppression, but hey who's keeping track

I refer to Ireland as such, not part of the United Kingdom. I think I had a brain fart earlier when I referred to the UK as England.

Well I know who never votes for me now, Sorry we all can't be super bio chemists with a 32.9 Gpa like you Harth. I understand if someone grammar is totally shit, but if small shit like that is what gets points knocked off, just lofuckingl. I have to remember that everyone but me is a published author like Barbs and Gleg though.

Just gotta bust your balls a bit man.lol

I just wanted to let people know what was going through my head. Like I said, I don't expect perfect grammar or anything, and I probably wouldn't honestly know perfect grammar if I looked right at it, but it's one small thing that just irks me a bit.

I agree, it is one thing grammatically that really drives me insane. That and the rest of the homonyms that is.

Oh boy a roll eyes emote. Shit's getting real guys. I've got a lot of shit going through my head on the fed at the moment. I'd love to say it, but I'd get shit on for saying anything. Because everyone likes to jump in and squash "drama", white knights you know.

Isn't it a given that grammar/spelling accounts into the way your RP is, for lack of a better term, graded? Obviously, like Harthan said, there isn't an expectation for perfection, but simple stuff -- that most word processing programs can basically correct for you, if you're unsure -- should be accounted for. The content of the RP carries more weight, I'm sure, but there's more than one component to a "good" RP. That's just the way I see it, though -- there may be members of creative/the fed who look at RPs completely differently.

You still owe me feedback :(

(I think. lol I'm drunk)

When I'm voting on RPs (which I have done for exactly one round plus another random match), I'm not going to take points off of an RP because it has bad grammar and spelling. However, if the RPs are pretty much even in my book and one RP has better grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc., I'm going to vote for that one.

To me, it's more than that; I dislike reading an RP that is riddled with spelling errors. I'm one to talk because I'm sure mine had a few, but I'd rather not spend my time looking at the grammar mistakes, and focusing on the character.

And, I think there's a laziness quality to it

My thing wasn't necessarily about counting mistakes or anything like that. The issue is when an unfortunately placed typo or grammar mistake can really interrupt the flow of an RP or pulls you out of the scene being presented.

I know I've had minor grammar and spelling mistakes in the past and while I should catch them I tend to not notice them looking over my RP a few times. I do run it through a spelling & grammar checker 2 or 3 times though so usually the only things that slip through are typos of putting the wrong word or something.

Personally when reading an RP, I don't focus on spelling or grammar mistakes unless its so bad that it takes away from the story going on in the RP.

This is pretty much how I feel when I'm judging them. If it breaks up the flow to the point it becomes a chore to read, then I have a hard time voting for it, otherwise minor mistakes aren't an issue for me.
