I'm not in the middle of this, and honestly could not care less about the conversation. It did seem to me that his comment was in jest, and was just poking fun at your choice of your words. I don't think anyone here doubts the sincerity of your love for your child.

He didn't fail the Sly rule. It only counts when you are talking about yourself. Instead of saying "I am awesome", it would actually be "Slyfox is awesome".
