WWE Survivor Series General Discussion & Aftermath

Unless I've missed one somewhere, there are only 5 matches announced for the Survivor Series card. Unless WWE is gonna make some matches to add at the show, which will most likely result in some pretty underwhelming matches to say the least, then I'm thinking a couple of these matches will be really long.

If the card stays as it currently is:

Team Cena vs. Team Authority: 40-45 minutes

Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt: 20-22 minutes

WWE Tag Team Championship fatal fourway: 15-18 minutes

WWE Divas Championship with AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella: 10-12 minutes

Divas traditional Survivor Series match: 15-18 minutes

I will say that perhapa some segments will be done to further build the Main Event match which is sorely lacking in True Star Power; throughout the Survivor Series PPV and such segments will be used to fill time

Also I feel it will end with some sort of segment to continue a storyline in order to get people to subscribe and it better be a Good Surprise(merely an Orton interference will Not cut it!!!)

some thoughts:
Sting's debut was awesome... maybe not as good as I expected it to be in my mind, but awesome nonetheless to finally see him in WWE... Love the idea of Sting vs HHH at Mania
I'm happy John Cena wasn't the one to overcome the odds at the end... I'm very happy Ziggler got that spot, and it was well deserved.
Also, I'm glad they acknowledged Brie and AJ both dating the same man

Alright, reviewing the PPV, I will start by saying it was the first PPV I ever watched live. It was a good experience, but let's just move on to the PPV.

I think it was really underwhelming. I re-named this PPV "Bathroom Break Series". Everything felt so forced and irrelevant apart from the last match and Dean vs Wyatt. Nothing else on it was interesting.

The PPV started with the fatal four way match for the tag titles. Good action overall, but it felt forced. Matadores were out of place, Miz and Mizdow seem to be put in there randomly and nothing new but anyone else. Also, as soon as the action started picking up, the bull, no pun intended, jumped in the action and ruined it. I never understood, why isn't the bull interference a disqualification?
-Missed opportunities: Debuting the Ascension. After the match ended, they could have them doing a run in, and dropping all 4 tag teams. Talk about making a statement on the big stage of Bath... erhmmm Survivor Series.


4 on 4 Divas elimination match. I won't talk about the botchfest here, I will just point out just how good Paige is. She is freaking amazing, especially as a heel. Everything she does is awesome and the future of the Divas division should be built around her. But no, Total Divas has to come in and ruin everything. Natalya's team got the clean sweep over Paige's, missing a big opportunity of making Paige super strong, for the sake of TD. Paige could have at least taken out 3 Divas when she was left alone, and in the end, alright, let Natalya/Naomi pick up the win. What a missed oportunity... It's funny because the crowd was actually kinda into it and where going kinda wild for Paige.


We get a random backstage segment with Adam Rose and the Bunny being challenged by Slater and Tituts. Eh, I don't need to comment on this one, do I?


Then we get Bray Wyatt vs Dean Ambrose. The thing that their feud wasn't given enough time to develop on Raw (they missed the UK Raw), made this match not feel as big as it should. Good action, but I expected more by both guys, especially after Dean brought the toys in. Apparently we get a TLC match between the two, which I'm really looking forward to.



AJ vs Nikki for the divas title. There were rumors that AJ wanted to take time off or leave completely and this kinda solidifies it. They basically pulled the WHC match @ WM28, with Brie kissing AJ and then Nikki hitting her finisher and winning the title. No DQ for the kiss, but oh well. Dark days are coming...


And the main event. I think it was ok. Big Show heel turn #269 was so obvious, Ziggler being the lone survivor with an epic showing was really amazing and of course the debut of Sting. I don't really know how I feel about this. Let's break it down:
-First of all, I believe Orton should have appeared. He is obviously related to the story and is the hometown boy. Just let him come in and give a couple of RKOs and leave.
-Second, Big Show heel turn... No one is interested anymore.
-Third, Seth Rollins looked like a decent leader, dropping his opponents for the pinfalls. This guy will go really far.
-Fourth, the debut of Sting. Apart from the shock value and the epic moment, I can't say I was really excited, for a couple of reasons. Him staring down HHH doesn't make sense. They don't have any history or anything, it just screwed up the match even more than HHH did. And the second reason is that it took all the thunder away from Ziggler, which leads me to my fifth point.
-Ziggler is awesome. The guy probably had the night of his life. Tremendous showing, great selling, psychology, close calls, 1v1 with Seth. It was amazing, but all this great showing was just stolen away by Sting's debut, which doesn't really make sense. I really hoped they just let Ziggler win on his own after this great showing and let Sting appear at some other time, or next night on Raw.



As far as other missed opportunities go, Lesnar could appear in some sort. I expected some NXT guy to come up, and of course, I expected Charlotte to debut, after Nikki won the title. Another missed chance there.


If I had to rate the PPV,I would give it a 6/10. Bray vs Dean and the final match were decent, but the entire PPV felt underwhelming, with a lot of missed opportunities to take advantage of, seeing as the Authority will be going out, AJ will be going out etc...

Only good match was the last one. Rest of the PPV was pretty bad. Didn't care much for Ambrose vs. Wyatt until all the shenanigans after the bell.

Divas survivor series match was every minute too long after the first 1 and obviously Nikki/AJ wasn't really a match, so....

The PPV was solid. I didn't see Damien Mizdow and Miz winning the tag titles but great way to start the show on unpredictability. The Brie Bella/AJ kiss was unexpected, too.

I'm disappointed they had Cesaro/Swagger face off again after they feuded six months ago.

The main event lived up to the hype. I'm surprised Cena wasn't the last one in the match. Ziggler looked even better than his last Survivor Series effort in 2012.

Well, this was better than Hell In A Cell, but for the most part it wasn't that great.


Goldust and Stardust VS Los Matadores VS The Miz and Damien Mizdow VS The Usos (Fatal Fourway for the Tag Team Championship)
The show was already off to a bad start with a Fatal Fourway tag team match that instead of having someone from all four teams represented in the match at all times we instead get the idiotic type of match where you tag in people from other teams. I hate those, they make ZERO sense. Glad for Damien Mizdow that he got the Tag Team Championship at least.

Divas Elimination Tag Team Match
This was pretty bad. Paige should have eliminated at least one diva on the other team when she was the last one left, but she was booked poorly in the match. Hopefully this leads to good things for Natalya and Emma having been on the winning team.

Bray Wyatt VS Dean Ambrose
Here we go, finally a good match. 2nd best of the night and I'm glad it won't be their last. That TLC match between them is surely going to be incredible.

Adam Rose & The Bunny VS Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil
Filler. It did what it needed to, furthering the storyline with Rose and The Bunny.

AJ Lee VS Nikki Bella (Divas Championship)
HORRIBLE!!!! I cannot BELIEVE that WWE would do this. AJ is the best diva they have. So they have her lose in a match less than a minute long to a diva who can't wrestle!?!?!?!? Between this and how Paige was booked in the other match, the division has taken a colossal step backward. What a disgrace. Whoever booked this should be ashamed of themselves.

Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev and Luke Harper) VS Team Cena (John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Erick Rowan and Ryback)
Match of the night, this exceeded my expectations. Big Show's turn was stupid and is just yet another addition to his long list of disappointments over the years. Seriously, he turns from face to heel (or vice versa) more than anyone else on the roster and it's just as underwhelming each time. The end with Ziggler coming back despite the odds was great. And of course the debut of Sting.


Overall Thoughts
The main event saved the show, other than that the only good parts were the Ambrose VS Wyatt match and Sting's debut at the very end. The tag team match could have either been legitimately a Fatal Fourway or JUST Team Mizdow VS Goldust & Stardust. Paige should have been booked to be more of a threat in the divas elimination match. AJ SHOULD HAVE RETAINED HER BELT. Big Show should have been eliminated rather than start yet another boring heel turn. A World Heavyweight Championship match should have been on the card. So, two good matches, a legend debuts, but there was also a whole lot of garbage. It still evens out to getting ranked below average for me. Battleground and Hell In A Cell were worse, but this show could have been much better and it SHOULD have been much better. Vince was right though, this was a Survivor Series I won't soon forget.

The 2014 edition of Survivor Series was a prime example of placing just about all of your eggs in one basket, that basket being the main event. Giving away a Big 4 PPV on what was basically free tv is a very risky move business wise and if that main event failed to deliver, which is never out of the realm of possibility, the target audience that the company was trying to gain the attention of would be gone for a long period of time. Having said all that, the WWE put on an excellent, nearly flawless from my point of view, survivor series match. I could sense the desperation in Team Authority with each offensive strike while Team Cena fought like their jobs were on the line. The swerve by Big Show legitimately shocked me and caused me to shout at the tv when it happened. Each near fall between Ziggler and Rollins had me at the edge of my seat since I genuinely didn't know who was going to win. And of course the event of Sting actually steeping into a WWE ring for the first time ever was the icing on the cake. The only thing I'd change is giving Ryback a little more shine since he was a big part of the "free agency" courting period and even that is probably nitpicking. At the end of the night, the main event needed to be better than just good and the WWE delivered. Good thing too, because the show before the main event was pretty lackluster

Goldust and Stardust VS Los Matadores VS The Miz and Damien Mizdow VS The Usos (Fatal Fourway for the Tag Team Championship)
I don't understand this. Why isn't a Fatal Fourway Tag match the same as a Fatal Fourway Singles match? Whatever, Primo and Epico a job in the WWE and Carlito doesn't, which should be illegal. Mizdow was hilarious, but he needs to find the evolution of the gimmick. Solid showing by Gold and Star Dust. Mediocre phone-in by the Usos, presumably because they weren't booked for the win. Mizdow getting the dirty tag to get the pin instead of Miz, while Miz celebrates the win shows that they're going to put some work into this, and that might end up being a pretty solid midcard feud.

Divas Elimination Tag Team Match
So, I have a hard time REALLY caring about the outcomes of Divas matches. My only real point to make about this match is that all 8 of them need to be in the Performance Center every single day, because this match was hideous.

On a side note, Emma is fucking gorgeous.

Bray Wyatt VS Dean Ambrose
So, the match was bad, mostly, and that's because Bray Wyatt just can't put it together in a ring. However, I'll be interested to see how his style adapts to weapons, etc. against someone that isn't afraid to use them.

I also liked the subtle booking to separate Dean Ambrose from John Cena as faces. Cena wouldn't ever embrace his dark side during the feud with Bray, and Bray could never pull the evil out of him. Dean Ambrose is very different, and more than willing to use what's necessary to ensure victory.

Adam Rose & The Bunny VS Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil
Well, 4 other wrestlers get a PPV payday, so that's not terrible. I just feel as though this spot could have been better used to bring up Sami Zayn and have him fight Tyson Kidd or something.

AJ Lee VS Nikki Bella (Divas Championship)
Finally, the WWE is rewarding the cash flow with a belt. When we say things like "this Diva is a great wrestler" it's in the context that ALL Divas are currently terrible wrestlers, but there are some that are better than others. AJ was better than the others in context, but she's garbage compared to Lita, so it's all relative.

I hope that AJ is taking time off to go and live her life. She didn't seem happy in the WWE, and I'm sure that she hears plenty of shit about her husband in the back anyway. I can't imagine that someone taking wrestling seriously enjoys working with reality stars, but the reality stars are the ones bringing in new fans and making money.

I didn't care who won this, and I don't care how they won it, it was over really quickly, and Nicki has never looked better. Goddamn is she attractive.

Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev and Luke Harper) VS Team Cena (John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Erick Rowan and Ryback)
This match was fun. 15 minutes of intros. Mark Henry didn't even have to get winded. Rollins played the slimeball opportunist perfectly. Ryback looked strong, and was protected. Cena looked fine, and was protected, even though he laid down for a Big Slow punch. Show turning was dumb, and since it was the MOST obvious, no one figured the WWE would be that stupid. HHH going crazy was typical. And then it happened, the biggest superstar to never appear in a WWE ring appeared in a WWE ring. Sting's debut was great, except, I wanted face Orton. But I'm not going to let that drown out the mark in me. I didn't think I wanted Sting, but then, seeing him, I realized, I CERTAINLY wanted Sting.

Notes:
No Orton in St. Louis is horrendously stupid. Especially if you're starting a face run.
Rusev looked strong and was protected. No pin.
Ziggler HAS to stop flopping like a dead fish. He's a great wrestler. The fake bumping looks too fake when he does it. Otherwise, I'm glad he was the lone survivor.
Cena laid down on a soft punch from Big Show, and was pinned half way through to give Ziggler the moment. Anyone that says that Cena is in it all for himself is full of shit.
Rollins looked great, but is his next feud Orton or is it Ziggler?
Is it Harper v. Rowan or Harper v. Ziggler?
Where does Roman Reigns fit in? Where does Sheamus fit in?

There's a lot of talent in the WWE right now looking for homes/feuds. The next month will be interesting, and we're about 60 days from starting the Road to Wrestlemania.

I personally enjoyed this PPV, and if you watched this for free and STILL don't think the Network is worth it, I don't know what to tell you.

I enjoyed the show overall, though it was definitely the main event that saved the show from being pretty mediocre as a whole.

I can't say I care about Big Show turning one way or the other, I'm just hoping it's not leading to another feud with John Cena. If they were gonna have someone turn, I would've preferred it to be Ryback as he's already flattened Cena and his loyalty seemed less solid from the beginning than the other team members. The stories coming out of the ppv are mostly Ryback being eliminated pretty early on, Cena being eliminated, Sting showing up to lay out Triple H and Dolph Ziggler carrying Team Cena to victory in a great effort. My one complaint about Sting's debut last night was the massive oversell of Trips being kicked in the gut, it's a trivial thing and not a big deal but he sold it like he'd just gotten kicked by a mule. This could lead to a match between them at WrestleMania XXXI, dunno if I'm interested in that or not at this time to be perfectly honest.

This main-event was wonderful. The build up was so intense and time-consuming that there was no option for it to fail. It was effectively a one-match card but this one match did enough.

Watching the match, the best thing was all the connotations and how that played into the story. Your mind is actually working, thinking of what will happen if X pins Y or if Team Cena loses/wins. It felt like a MITB or a Royal Rumble because of all that was something actually at stake and how it will genuinely alter the future months of TV.

I liked what they did with Henry getting eliminated early; putting HHH on the back-foot. Harper and Rusev are absolute stars and were made to look as such. Rollins is terrific and was booked strong. Kane is Kane.

Show's heel turn was a little irritating but it was clever in relation to this match. Ryback's elimination was rather curious and if I'm being overcritical; I would have prefered to see Seth use his briefcase rather than a curb-stomp. Cena didn't too much which is very weird but that was probably intentional. Rowan wasn't in the ring for long but impressed with what he showed.

The star of the match was obviously Ziggler. He took the majority of the punishment and his selling was tremendous. An absolute stand-out performance for Ziggler and I'm interested to see where it goes. He eliminated THREE of the other team and was responsible, sort off, for Rusev getting eliminated. That is a huge rub for Dolph and he did his part perfectly.

Sting was an amazing surprise. Sure it was reported but I never truly believed it would happen. The idea of a HHH/Sting feud is beyond exciting.

So this match was a classic. It had emotion. It had surprises and twists. It had, most importantly, a great story and the 15 people involved told it to perfection.

Bray/Dean was fine. The tag match was alright and I didn't think the Divas SS match was all that bad. Team Cena v Team Authority dominated the build up and it is irrelevant that the rest of the show was average because this match had everything.

honestly I thought rollins being out for what felt like an eternity was worse. People like savage, nash, and hall have all sold that kick of stings like death for some reason. But honestly, from the time Rollins took the zig zag that won the match these things happened. Triple H took the ref out, beat the hell out of ziggler, did a stalling pedigree, put Seth on top of Dolph. Called for a ref. The ref comes out jobbing to the ring. Counts to one (btw why did the ref stop the count? it's not like sting actually stopped him) Stings video runs for a while, then sting slowly walks to the ring. Gets in the ring with Triple H and they circled each other for a couple minutes. Then sting drops Triple H, walks over and puts dolph on seth rollins. sting walks away gets most of the way up the ramp then the count starts. I'm not saying it was 15 mins but it sure felt like it LOL. That was one HELL of a zig zag.

The main event was awesome and stephanie's reaction to the loss made it even better further proof that she one the best things on wwe right now. when the fans started shouting you are fired she knew right away what to do with the screaming back at them she showed that she has learned a lot form vince and that the wwe is in safe hands when he finally hands the reins over (in about 30 years or he dies witch ever comes first)

It wasn't the best of Survivor Series, I surprised Cena was eliminated so early on in the match and they should of capitalized on Zigglers win here at least by pushing him further on up the card. I would make some changes and re-arrange some of the wrestlers around to make it look more appealing to the audience, they were in St. Louise Missouri and they should of had Orton in the main event tbh and I would like to add him in here but keep Bryan and Reigns out because of their respective injuries.

My card would be:

1) Gold & Stardust (C) Vs The Uso Vs The Miz & Damien Mizdow Vs Kingston & Big. E
Tag Team Title Four Corner Elimination Match. Keep this is at the same except make it an elimination match and have Miz & Mizdow win the titles eliminating the Uso's last to win.

2) Big Show, Swagger, Eric Rowan & Truth Vs Mark Henry, Axel, Rose & Dallas
8 Man Tag Team Elimination Match. Bit of a random one put together I know BUT Show and Henry should of squared of in their own elimination match and I would have Henry be the sole survivor to show his dominance.

3) Paige Vs Natalya Vs Naomi Vs Emma Vs Layla Vs Alicia Fox
Number 1 Contenders Diva's Title Six Pack Elimination Match. I would have this one at SS instead, it still counts as an elimination match and I wuld have either Paige or Natalya win the match and move onto the title.

4) Dean Ambrose Vs Bray Wyatt
Singles Match. Stays the same, I enjoyed the feud between these two.

5) Los Matadore Xavier Woods & Justin Gabriel Vs Slater Gator, Tyson Kidd & Fandango
8 Man Tag Team Elimination Match. This should be on the card, its mostly full of jobber I know but they could of had an entertaining match with Tyson Kidd and Slater, Gator being the survivors of the match.

6) Aj Lee (C) Vs Nikki Bella
Diva's Title Singles Match. Stays the same except make it longer without that crappy finish but still have Nikki cheat to win the match.

7) Cena, Orton, Ziggler, Ryback & Sheamus Vs Rollins, Kane, Harper, Cesaro & Rusev
10 Man Tag Team Elimination Match. This stays the same, except I've added Orton, Sheamus and Cesaro to the match to give it a bit more star power. I would have some of the same outcomes except have Rusev pin Cena to eliminate him, Sheamus and Rusev get counted out and have Ziggler go against the odds to win the match for his team and give him a push at least.
