WWE Survivor Series 2011 - WWE Championship - Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. CM Punk

Alright, fuck it. I'm officially off the band wagon. Alberto Del Rio is a great character and an even better wrestler but damn he is just god fucking awful at being WWE Champion. He gets hardly any crowd reaction and the WWE writers do nothing with him; which spawns the question - why the fuck is he my WWE Champion? I do, however, see Del Rio winning here. Hopefully Punk can bring some fucking life into this feud sooner rather than later. As for how it will go down, I'm hoping Punk's character will somehow come into play. Whether it's Punk claiming that there is a conspiracy or Punk beats up Johnny Ace, Punk will bring some enjoyment to this shitty WWE Championship match. I question the WWE relying on Punk vs. Del Rio to sell a PPV. Oh wait, The Rock and John Cena will be wrestlng. Who in their right mind will give two shits about this match?

Hamler's Prediction - Alberto Del Rio will retain the WWE Championship.

I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but I'm hyped for this match. I'm no fan of del rio, but with how they have been building this match up, I'm exited for it. I would love to see CM Punk win, but I'm 50/50 and I'm not sure which way this will go. But I think that CM Punk will win by somebody "accidently" Costing him the match.

This one looks like it will be a good submissions based match. Del Rio's reign hasn't been much to write home about although this match has a lot of potential. Punk said he will make things interesting again after he becomes champion. I believe him and he was better as champion than Alberto. Punk will probably win because then the feud will be more likely to continue whereas if Del Rio wins it leaves Punk with nothing to do. This feud should continue into TLC with Alberto getting his rematch.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
CM Punk will win the WWE Championship.

Punk lied when he said "I'll make things more interesting as a champion" because his character is such that he's fighting the "man". If he has the belt, it's mission-accomplished right? So how about he gets screwed out of the title instead?

Doesn't really matter to me who wins or how, it's going to be a great match. ADR and Punk are classic "work the body and sell in detail" guys. I'm going to enjoy this match very much.

Survivor Series is usually one of the PPVs I MUST buy. But with only 1 actual Survivor Series match and a corny main event, I'm definitely passing on this one. With that said, this is the match that intrigues me the most as it has 2 of the 3 best characters in the WWE(Rhodes being the 3rd). Add in the in ring ability, and this match will have MSG standing.

Never allow your past mistakes to make you make mistakes in your future. I say this because Del Rio has been booked terribly. He shouldn't have won MITB, because his character was over enough. MITB should build contenders, like it did Punk and I hope they will with Daniel Bryan. He shouldn't have cashed in at Summerslam, as it closed the summer with unwanted controversy and took a lot of momentum from Punk. He shouldnt have lost his belt to Cena, because no one wanted to see him with the belt anytime soon, and he shouldn't have gotten it back the way he did because it gave him no credibility and the constant title changes were becoming ridiculous. Its hard to make Del Rio look big time when the only time he's booked impressive is when he's fighting Kofi Kingston.

I hope Punk wins this match. NY will go nuts, and it sets up for a strong build for him to go to WM as champion. He & Del Rio can have a Ladder Rematch at TLC, since the ladder matches are what made them champions in the 1st place. Once Punk gets that win, there's plenty of heels the company can choose to build him as the true credible champion that they should have made him in August

What I am interested in is how the crowd with treat both men.Usually New York likes the heel, but Punk is a heel in some ways.I think if Del Rio beats Punk, and performs well that helps him getting people to respect that he deserves to hold the belt.I do think though, Punk will win it before WM..

The match i mostly looking forward to. Reckon Punk will take it though. Already lost in the last 2 pay per views, wouldn't exactly look good on him being the "Best In The World" if he went and lost.

Wasn't the main reason for Del Rio being champion as the mexican tour was coming up at that time?

^^ I can see why he thinks Punk will win.

Anyways, I'm a Punk mark 24/7, but I don't think there's a chance of him winning this. There may look like there is, but for weeks now, we've seen vignettes of big old Brodus Clay, meant to be making his debut on Raw, yet he never did. He used to hang around with Del Rio before on Smackdown, around Wrestlemania time, so I'm pretty sure that we'll see him turn up tonight, costing Punk the match and putting Del Rio through another PPV successfully. It does make it seem like Del Rio isn't a worthy champion, because Awesome Truth helped him last month, now the possibility of Clay would make Del Rio seem cheap.

Prediction: Del Rio retains the WWE Championship.

I say Del Rio walks out still champion; however, it has to be a way to keep Punk from looking weak. I say maybe some sort of DQ finish so Punk can claim he deserves one more shot and the chase continues. I know DQ finishes on PPV's are a bad route but it's been done before.

I say Punk takes it at TLC or Royal Rumble.

I've been a little late on getting to these.

I'm of two minds about this match, to be honest. On one hand, Alberto Del Rio hasn't been presented as a credible champion, and he hasn't shown the necessary mic skills to overcome that, the way Miz was able to. So a win over CM Punk, even if it's not a clean one, would go a long way towards helping to legitimizing himself as WWE Champion. What he can't afford is to retain via DQ, as it would only make his reign look even weaker then it has already been presented to be.

On the other hand, I'm of the belief that heels will win most of the other matches, and Del Rio has looked weak as WWE Champion. Punk has never had a spectacular reign himself, but he's essentially using a different gimmick now, so a decently long reign starting tonight would really cement him as a top guy in the company, which it appears they're positioning him to be. And Del Rio is still young in his WWE career, so he certainly has time to bounce back.

LSN's prediction: CM Punk d Alberto Del Rio via submission to win the WWE Title.

I'm picking Del Rio for the win here. CM Punk has maintained a good amount of momentum, but I think someone will try to screw him out of the WWE Championship again (possibly Mr. John Laurinatis), and Punk will lose this match. Punk should stay relevant after this pay per view, because he has received a huge push this year, and WWE isn't going to give up on him.

As far as the match goes, I am expecting something good here. The build for this feud has been very solid, and these two should deliver a good world title match. I'm expecting an electric crowd atmosphere here, and Punk could receive a monster reaction from the live crowd at MSG, if he wins the WWE Championship, and a Punk title win here could provide one of those memorable goosebump moments, if it happens.

Holy crap does this angle need some fire. I like del Rio - I'm a fan of his gimmick and his in-ring work. However, he absolutely sucks as champion. The only interesting stuff in this feud has come from CM Punk - and even then, Punk himself hasn't excelled. I'd like to see something big happen here - a Brodus Clay debut? I can dream.

The match itself should be pretty good. Both guys are excellent between the ropes, and their styles shouldn't class too much (a reason why the Cena/del Rio matches were so lacklustre). I'd be on board with either winning, because Punk winning the WWE Championship seems to be a forgone conclusion anyway. I guess I'll say Punk - possibly with a dusty finish.
