WWE Summerslam: WWE Title - Sheamus (C) vs. Randy Orton

Hope that Sheamus wins here, while I like Randy Orton who is one of my favourites at the moment I want to see a long title run.If Sheamus can hold onto the title for 5 maybe 6 months and beat guys clean on PPV, it would do him a world of good.As of today you can say that Cena fell down and broke the table, Nexus got involved in both Fatal Four Way and the Steel Cage match. So if he goes over Orton here it shows that he can beat Main Event guys and win clean.

honestly i was pumped for their Royal rumble match but was surprised to see this was the main event for the title at the biggest party of the summer, never thought it would happen, but sheamus has grown on me, i cant help but smile now thinking of him, his character is great and i find him funny, orton hottest shit goin right now, been my second fave for awhile first HBK of course, i see this match as a set up for MIZ to cash in, after sheamus wins then miz and sheamus have a decently long match with sheamus winning and proving he is good by beating orton and miz the same night, this would start a feud with miz turning him face perhaps and get orton out of the picture perhaps starting a feud with bourne, maybe bourne costs him the match?

Personally, I think the WWE have made a mistake in not giving Orton a title reign recently. In fact, while we've seen the likes of HHH, Undertaker, Batista, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels etc out for one reason or another, they should have propelled Orton to being the main man. Preferably as a heel and given him the belt for some considerable time. He's one of, if not, the best main eventer the WWE has in my view and yet they've given the role's to Sheamus and Rey Mysterio, the latter isn't even World Champion material.

Orton's been stuck in fued's that have served no purpose really while John "five moves" Cena has been given everything.

Im undecided on whether I like the sound of this match of not, I think it should be a good match but im not sure if it is the kind of match that should be headlining the 2nd biggest show of the year sure Orton is one of the if not the the Biggest face in the company right now and Sheamus is arguably the top heel it just seems like a match that should be on a regular PPV and not Summerslam. Summerslam should be the place to end fueds not to start them and this fued has only just started.

As for who I want to win the match I am split the fan in me really wants to see orton win the title as I feel he deserves it, just listen to the pops he has been getting. But the IWC member in me feels that Sheamus really needs a clean win over an established main eventer as all of his wins over Cena have involved luck or interferance, and how better to gain credibility than to beat the hottest star in the WWE right now at the biggest event of the Summer.

Well this just popped in my head. Does anyone remember that promo on Raw after F4W between the Miz and Orton. Miz said wait in line because he's in line to win the title. After that Raw, WZ was buzzed with a Miz/Orton feud culminating. But nothing happened after that Raw. So at Money in the Bank, Miz wins the Raw Money in the bank ladder match. And each week after the PPV, Miz tries to cash in his briefcase and is unsuccesful. So maybe at SS, Orton wins the wwe title, but after the match The MIZZ cashes in and defeats Orton which culminates a Miz/Orton feud. So what do you guys say.

Randy orton is the best and he is going to be the wwe champion at sumerslam. Randy been succeful for the past 3 weeks on Raw. Randy orton even has the best finisher. One Rko and its over 1..2..3!!!!! I dont know how Sheamus could win. I hope Randy all red and bleeding so we dont have to see Sheames and his whiteness any more. So im telling you right now that Randy Orton will leave WWE CHAMPION!

As my name says, I'm a HUGE fan of both of these guys. So regardless of who wins, I will be pleased, and yet slightly disappointed. There are all sorts of possibe ways for this to go. I agree with StopIt. The Miz Orton segment wasnt just a ploy. I personally believe Orton dominates the match, goes for the RKO, Sheamus pushes him off and his the big boot. Sheamus wins, Miz then cashes in on a badly weakened Sheamus. Then from out of nowhere Orton comes in and RKOs Miz. Sets up a rematch for the number one contender between Orton and Sheamus and this could even possibly turn into a 3 man fued. Catapulting Ortons face run, if it can get any higher, and getting Miz over as the heel he is and should be. Also solidifies Sheamus to work with those two.

This whole thing is just...blah. Randy Orton is my favorite wrestler out there today, but this just doesn't interest me.

Orton has been booked for shit since the fans start cheering for him. They haven't given him one interesting thing to do..not one. Sure, he comes out and RKO's someone, then someone else, etc. But he hasn't had an interesting story to be apart of since the end of Legacy (and that wasn't all that great either).

His feud with Edge stunk (party due to Edge being out of sorts since his return). The WWE seems to have a choke-collar on Orton, and I'm not sure why. His interviews are about as bland as it gets. He isn't playing the loose cannon role that he should be. The fans started cheering for him because he was doing heel-ish things. No one wants to see this guy be as boring as he is right now. WWE creative really needs to step up their game, and give this guy some entertaining things to do, or this hot-streak he's on will not last.

And then there's Sheamus. He just won the belt. I'm not a big Sheamus fan, but I don't see the point in taking the title from him right now, and I don't think WWE does either.

Another problem I have is the fact that there has been no chase! A character like Orton is most entertaining when chasing the belt for a long period of time. Having a long-term feud with a good heel, and a few months later taking the title. The build for this has been shit, just as Edge vs. Orton was. But on the other hand, I don't want to see Orton lose to Sheamus again.

I think it's been booked in about the shittiest way possible. Both of these guys deserve a better story going into this match, and it's not happening.

My money's on Orton going over here. Look at it this way, Sheamus can easily start a program with any face, everybody hates him. Orton going over makes the face Viper a little bit more credible. You can give him a lengthy title reign, maybe a rivalry with Miz, who constantly tries to cash in MITB and gets thwarted. Builds Miz, builds Orton. And Miz finally cashing in successfully and becoming a Main Event contender other than when he has a cheap contract. Orton winning just has more of a boost for both of these men (and Miz), and would make more sense.

well the right thing to do in this situation would be to have sheamus go over in this match but by the miz doing something to accidently cause orton to lose. and of course that would lead to a rematch at NOC where orton would win. then they would have to do one more at hell in a cell where miz would cash in on orton starting tht fued. by then hhh will probly be back so thts who sheamus will be fueding with and im not even looking at wade barret in the title picture right now because he hasnt even had his big one on one match with cena yet and tht will most likely happen on a ppv. so the main event scene on raw should be set all the way through survivor series

This match should be really good, I hope Sheamus wins, if Orton wins, it adds nothing but a statistic, if Sheamus wins, it can prove that he is a credible champion, if he doesn't win, people will just look over him, as they did with his first reign, Swagger's reign, and CM Punk's first reign, so I think Sheamus should win.

I think this match could be very good. Yes, it COULD be good. The match Sheamus and Orton had at the Royal Rumble was not that great but perhaps they could make up for it at Summerslam. I am a huge fan of both Sheamus and Orton and I know that they are capable of doing big things. I am looking forward to it.

I hope Sheamus retains so he can defend his title against Triple H.

Last but not least, I liked how the article compare Sheamus vs. Orton to St. Patrick and the snakes. haha!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes of this match. Sheamus hasn't shown what he's really capable of other than basically one match with Cena (in the cage) and one match with Triple H. He needs a clean win here if WWE wants to push him as a monster and a world champion, and Orton can take the fall without hurting his character. They're obviously setting up some sort of interference, either from the Miz or someone surprising like Triple H, and that's disappointing. But if they can put on a good 15-20 minute match and show that Sheamus has what it takes, 2 PPVs in a row, I'll be satisfied. Considering the other title match is two old guys with nagging injuries, they should get the brunt amount of main event time before the Elimination Match, hopefully anyway.

I don't expect this match to be any good. Orton VS Sheamus at the Royal Rumble was mediocre at best, and I really don't see anything changing here. This will most likely be a slow and boring match, and of course Orton will hit the RKO out of no where causing the live crowd to explode. Sheamus will probably get disqualified, and the whole " Sheamus can't beat Orton" storyline will start up. I beleive Orton will win the title at some point, but I just don't see it happening right now.

I expect this to be a pretty good match. The one at the Rumble was mediocre. With this being Summerslam, I expect something good to happen.

I dont know who will win this match. I can see Sheamus retaining so that he can continue to be built up as a formidable opponent. They need to stop moving the belt around so much and maybe this can be the beginning, leading up to his expected feud with HHH.

But I can also see Orton winning. If I'm not mistaken, I remember a little tease of a feud between Orton and Miz before MITB. With the RKO Orton gave to Miz last monday, It seems that a tease is even more evident. If Orton wins, I would expect a Miz cash in attempt, to set up the feud between the two.

I think Sheamus leaves WWE champ they've got to solitify dude as champion and letting him lose to Orton now shows hes not on that level yet,and I think hes the top heel on Raw right now besides Nexus ofcourse. I think Orton being hot right now he doesnt need a title .Orton will end up with the title but I think The Miz gets it first setting up one hell of a feud.

If HHH was coming back around this time, I would have Orton beating Sheamus but I believe Sheamus will retain. There isn't much buildup to this match and Orton's boring so it doesn't get much better. Should be an average match, not much better than their Royal Rumble match. A good clean win over someone like Orton is just what Sheamus needs and he will get it.

im just waiting for the day i see Orton with the title again ....... he's popular (now) at least , he has great moves and he sets up interesting feuds, it would be a lot and i mean a lot!! more interesting if sheamus was hunting down Orton to get his title back, but what do i know the creative are the one's with the choice on how this one's going down hopefully Orton wins it and losses it to either Miz or Sheamus and gets his wm moment winning the title at wm27 - u all know what i mean the confetti and all the celebrations of him winning the title at Mania , hope i live to see the day thou -.-

My Choice is Orton winning it and eventually losing it and winning it big time at wm27 hopefully

I expect Sheamus to retain here. If he wants to be looked at as a credible champion, he needs to beat Orton, although I don't expect a clean victory here, despite the fact the GM announced that anyone that interfered would be suspended. I see him using an illegal move behind the ref's back (low blow, brass knucks, etc.). But I'm sure there will be a rematch at Night of Champions, where Orton wins. Sheamus then gets his rematch two weeks later at Hell in a Cell (I know, only two weeks to build up Hell in a Cell, doesn't make much sense), and will probably lose. In a perfect world, Triple H would have been able to return by SummerSlam and beat Sheamus.

I hope that Sheamus wins, he has just gotten the title back after he reign early this year. While Randy does have the build up for a win I think Sheamus will pull out a win, here.Sheamus is a young lion and beating Orton here clean would give him something he can use in promos and all of that.As when Hunter comes back, his whole putting the Game on the shelf will most likely stop.So Sheamus for the win to give him something that a new up star can use by going over a established star like Orton.

Hopefully this wouldn't be as boring as their match at the Royal Rumble since one of them is a face (tweener, same shit) this time. I'm still not excited for it though. Orton has been absolutely dominating since becoming the #1 contender and the rule of opposite momentum pretty much guarantees a Sheamus win. Let's just hope it's clean so we won't have to witness a third match between them when the mystery GM decides Sheamus didn't really win so Orton deserves another shot.

The Best's Best Possible Outcome:
Sheamus retains and Orton returns to the back of the line

I think the outcome here depends on what the next step creative has chosen for nexus. If after this elimination match the story with them will be barrett setting his sights on a championship match, then by all means orton will win as a barrett/sheamus pairing just doesn't sound very interesting.

If there's a different plan for them, such as a continued feud with Cena for a while, then I'm predicting that sheamus will retain and perhaps Orton will somehow get involved in that storyline as a temporary ally of Cena.

Sheamus should win here. He is much better with the title, whereas Randy can continue doing what he's doing and be successful without the belt. This will be a slower paced match, with Sheamus hopefully getting a clean win here.

I am hoping that Sheamus gets the win here as well, I do not think that Orton needs the belt to be over with the crowd.

I bet that Triple H dose come back tonight, I do not trust Baseball players. He could come in and cost Randy the match, making sure that Sheamus retains. That way HHH gets his hands on Sheamus and a shot at the title.

This match really wasn't much. It was decent for what it was however, but it wasn't really worth bragging about. Good to see Sheamus is still champion however, even if it means that he once again had to retain through disqualification.

I guess this mean that Randy will have some kind of rematch however. I can't help but wonder how that will turn out. Guess it'll be a good way to actually keep a feud on both of them for a while.
