WWE Roster Cuts, Should Be Released, and "Future Endeavored" Discussion

This is my first post in this section.

I don't see why WWE gave Maria Diva of the Year then release her. If they knew she wanted to leave then why give her that honour? I didnt like her, why? Because she can't wrestle. First and foremost if you are to be in the WWE as an in-ring performer you have to be able to perform in the ring!

Secondly, both Gregory Helms and Paul Burchill were bad moves in their own right to release them. Gregory Helms more because he has two characters/gimmicks over with The Hurrican faace and the heel Gregory Helms. I think he was massively underrated and could cut it with the best in the business. He is quite similar to Chris Jericho I think. He just needed to be treated right. I thought it wouldve been cool if The Hurricane had got drafted to Smackdown! and Gregory Helms got drafted to Raw. That would be entertaining to see him on both shows and would get him over massively. He also could have joined CM Punks straight edge society. As he did have that big altercation with the polic and drinking.

Paul Burchill I read alot of people writing they didnt like him so they are happy he got fired. That is what a heel is supposed to do! Be hated. He was doing well on WWECW which was a horrible show. The crowd were dead silent for the majority of the night, exception to Christians entrance and William Regal thats about it. I thought they're could have been very entertaining sotrlyines for both wrestlers.

I think Burchill could have re-united with Regal on Smackdown and became huge heels. Regal can pull it off, remeber when he won King of the Ring. He got such a great negative crowd reaction. Or he could have restored back to his pirate gimmick. Could even have teamed with The Hurricane if the WWE writers were smart enough to come up with a good story behind it.

Sadly though WWE don't really care if their product is stale and cheap. As long as it makes money. Prime examples, on Smackdown The Volt?!?! about 2proper tag teams and 4 make shift tag teams, Matt Hardy and Great Khali. Horrible.

But I am hoping to see a Gregory Helms, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore stable in TNA. That would be great!

It's funny, but I'm looking at Maria as the hottest, literally, biggest free agent on the wrestling market. It was shocking to me that the once WWE cover girl got released. I wonder if something happened backstage.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Helms working in TNA soon and I am hoping that TNA does the right thing, sign Maria. Maria would bring in more fans for the growing company.

Paul Burchill released, that's not a shocker. This guy had no character and it's funny how the masked crusader that he beat on every week got released with him. Maria by far is the biggest surprise.

Im not surprised about Burchill or Haas (just announced) but i am about the Hurricane and Maria. i doubt it is because of the arrest. I wonder if the Powers that be WWE execs can explain why they were released. i am not surprised that a few of the defunct ecw stars are the ones that were released tho.

Say goodbye to Charlie Haas.

WWE.com has it posted if anyone needs a source

I think Haas has potential. I think he could make a good tag team with someone in TNA or just be a good talent enhancer on TNAs roster. IF TNA has room for Morley, OJ and The Nasty Boys i think Haas can be something.

Charlie Haas.

This once again points to the disorganization of WWE. They don't use the guy. Then his contract gets ready to expire, so they sign him to a new contract for more money and give him a raise so he doesn't go to TNA to join Kurt Angle.

Then, afterwards, they decide to release him, and it costs the company more money to let him go and out of his contract.

This company just prides itself in its indecisiveness and disorganization.

WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Charlie Haas as of today, February 28, 2010. We wish Charlie Haas the best in all future endeavors.

Not much of a surprise but why did they give this guy a raise months ago because he was gonna jump to TNA if they were just gonna release him later?

Didn't WWE give this guy a raise a few months ago to prevent this from happening? If what I've been reading on WZ and other wrestling sites is true, then I foresee Haas headed to TNA to start a program with Angle. With Angle seeming to have absolutely no problem with putting over young talent, this could be a great opportunity for Haas. That is, of course, the reports are true.

This really doesn't surprise me. The only thing that surprised me is that Haas still had a contract.

We haven't seen him on TV in a while. He has no reputation. He doesn't even job any more. WWE does this every year so this should come as a surprise to no one.

I don't think even TNA will pick Haas up. He'll just roam the indy's for a while and move onto better things.

Out of the five recently released, Maria and Scott Armstrong will be the ones that the company may suffer from in some form. Scotty was known for his counting to be a little slower than most referee's, but actually took three seconds to make the pinfall. He made some matches interesting and gave some anticipation as to whether or not the wrestler would kick out. He was the most useful referee when it came to counting a move where a wrestler would not be able to kick out instantly. At least with his slow counting, it was more believable to kick out than a normal-paced referee. As for Maria, although she requested the release, it's a loss of a useful Diva. Sure, she's not the best wrestler, but she got crowd reactions every week. She played a great character and had so much charisma. She was one of two face diva's amongst the 6 heel divas. Now with her gone, it's not looking good for the SD women's roster to have everyone feud with Mickie.

Paul Burchill never got the crowd connection he needed and had several opportunities to get it. He seemed to bore the crowd more than anything and the only successful run he had was with the Pirate Gimmick. Katie-Lea was carrying Paul in crowd connection at one point. Good wrestler, but not for the WWE Universe.

Hurricane Helms recently came back from a long time on the shelf and has been performing pretty well since he came back. He was a performer you could trust to go out there and do their job properly. But, I don't think they had any other place for Hurricane so a release was what the Doctor ordered.

I was waiting for Charlie Haas to go. The man has been idling for quite a while, where the only things I remember him doing was Gimmick Impersonating or teaming with Mike Knox. It's best to let him go for his sake, so he can actually wrestle again. Stupid move by WWE to give him a raise then release him.

Another under utilized talent that could have been a main event caliber wrestler. Does anyone remember when Charlie was in the middle of a really good push as a singles competitor? It was either JR or King who noticed that this guy was getting over big with the crowd. They even began calling it a "Haas Reaction" when other superstars got a really good pop from the crowd. He may not have had the mic skills that scream personality, but he was really good in the ring and was a great asset to WWE. It will absolutely shock me if Haas does not end up in TNA over the next 6 months.

SHAME ON YOU WWE!

They just need to go ahead and release Kozlov and Mike Knox i just cant stand any of them they have no charisma whatsoever they can't cut any good promos and any time i see them in a match i turn the channel i think its about time for them to go.

It seems to me they released the people they didn't feel they needed RIGHT NOW. Nothing is final in the WWE and chances are within a year, Helms and company will be back in some capacity. Helms is a good worker, and if he takes a little time off to heal and let people forget about the "hurricane" gimmick, then he'll be able to re-invent himself and win over some fans.

Burchill, well, he needs a gimmick WITHOUT Katie Lea. Let him establish himself as a grappler or something, and Maria? She's got so much going on outside of WWE, she doesn't really leave the WWE much time for booking her. She may be back, or she may become a star in her own right, without bouncing off the mat.

Frankly, I'm surprised more haven't been released or future endeavored with the demise of ECW. There's ALOT of talent in the wings and only 6 hours a week to work them in. If they'd get rid of the RAW! Rebound on every show, they could work in another pair of wrestlers each night. If they'd get rid of the 10 minute info-mercial for their ppv's, they could fit in another match for 2 wrestlers. If they work on the tag division, that's 4 wrestlers per match. Lots of options, just got to be smart about using them.

I started a thread about Charlie Haas a while ago in the Smackdown section. Haas wanted to leave WWE and join Kurt Angle in TNA, but WWE offered him more money, signed him to a new contact, and decided to bench him? Now they fire the guy? What was the fucking sense in all of this? Even if Haas does wind up going to TNA, it's not like he's going to make a huge impact(no pun intended). Why WWE didn't release him when he was ready to go is beyond me.

This really isn't surprising at all. Haas hasn't been relevant ever since he was in the tag team with Shelton Benjamin. He made me chuckle every now and then when he was doing all those impersonations of other wrestlers a while back, but it wasn't really all that memorable anyway. Ever since his move to Smackdown, Haas was just another guy on the roster filling space. He wasn't going anywhere in WWE.

I'm still waiting to hear about the releases of Zack Ryder,Rosa Mendes, and Vladimir Kozlov. Those releases should be happening any day now.

I'm actually glad this happened, because now Haas can actually get what he deserves in TNA or another wrestling promotion.

Seriously, this guy was one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster, and he hasn't really been used since his storyline with Rico... He deserved way better. Here's to hoping he goes to TNA, does something interesting and relevant with Angle, and finally gets what the hell he deserves.

I'm pretty disappointed with the Hurricane and Maria releases. Paul Burchill I couldn't give a shit about to tell you the truth... But I enjoyed the Hurricane, and Maria was just good for WWE, even though she can't wrestle to save her life.

Plus, Maria was a big surprise because she was just recently doing something with Matt and the Hart Dynasty, but w/e. When it comes to Helms, idk if his arrest had anything to do with it or not, or if he asked for his release, because there were reports confirming that.

Either way, it's weird to see these 2 go.

It was just announced that Charlie Haas was released too. I don't think these are huge loses for WWE since these wrestlers were hardly ever used to begin with. Hopefully they can find other places to flourish. I think Maria is going to be focused on her family so we probably won't see her involved with wrestling any time soon.

Burchill, Helms, and Haas could be an asset to TNA. I think TNA should release some of their useless talent and bring these three in. Helms and Moore could be an excellent tag team again, and Burchill and Hass could be great as tag teams or in the X Division. TNA just has so much talent that isn't used at the moment, I don't know if these guys would be given any time or not. I hope we haven't heard the last from them.

I think we will see Helms in TNA sooner than later. I don't know what the future holds for Haas and Burchill though.

Wow. Real classy WWE. Maria just stated that she didn't request to be released. So WWE did go, " Happy Birthday and you're fired" to her. Couldn't releasing her wait a few days?

They likely won't toss Ryder bub. He's got the look that Vince likes (you know, like "Hi, my name is Dolph Ziggler and I'm an idiot") plus he does have potential.
Now then, I'd like to rant on Charlie Haas: WWE is a conglomeration of douchebags, sycophants, hypocrites, and flat-out ignorants for releasing someone that should have been used as a pro on NXT at the very least but definitely as the technical wrestler that he is. Who the hell takes the oyster that they know has a big ol' pearl just waiting to be harvested and tosses it out because it doesn't look right? Methinks Charlie will go to TNA or ROH (I'd actually like to see the latter seeing as he'd get some respect there and not have to lick Hogan's ass).
I've got a good idea who's next to get tossed: Shelton Benjamin. That's right, the Gold Standard himself. This man had a beautiful match against HBK a few years back where Michaels nailed him with Sweet Chin Music as a counter to a springboard move(JR: Oh my God in heaven!) as well as a clean win (maybe two?) on HHH and that was the closest he got to a REAL main event (I don't count that impersonation of ECW here). He's the best technical wrestler on the main roster IMO and probably the third most crapped-on superstar (behind Kane and the now-released Charlie Haas). It'll be either him or Yoshi Tatsu (which I really hope doesn't happen, I rather like the kid's energy in the ring!)

I hope Maria goes into porn. That'd be awesome.

On a slightly more serious note, Helms would be fun to see in TNA, but I doubt they'll want him, considering the way the X-Division has been treated so far and I don't think TNA would want to put Helms into the mid-card with OJ and company.

Paul Burchill, though, would be an awesome acquisition for TNA. He's young, talented, athletic and very good on the stick given half a chance. I can see him in an angle with Samoa Joe for example (tagging or fighting him). I think their styles would be an awesome match.

Paul Burchill- Just another case of WWE not knowing how to use guys who actually can wrestle. He is deceptively large listed at 6'5'' but more likely a legit 6'3''. The guy can wrestle and has some flashy moves like the C4 that would work well in TNA maybe the X division. A feud between Burchill and Frankie Kazarian would be great. He could be used as mid-card guy but I don't see him having the overall skill set to be pushed as a major main event type guy. He has legit size and is only 30 years old and has so much more left to give to pro wrestling. Plus he is British so that is a Plus. HA.

***I predict a 50/50 chance TNA at the end of the year after he takes some time off and then works a bit through the indy circuit which most released wrestlers do.
I put the chances of him going to TNA at 50% with the other 50% chance of him going to ROH, I think in ROH he could be champ and be a good building block for ROH.

Maria- She is a DIVA though and through which means she is not a very good wrestler but has the looks. She is the hottest diva in my opinion and is only behind Velvet Sky as far as hottest female wrestler. She has major crossover appeal with her music career and her being on celebrity apprentice this coming season. She has gotten a little better in the ring over the years and would be an asset to any company.

*** I predict she is done with wrestling for now and will focus on her music and tv stuff for the next couple years and maybe she will end up back in WWE at that time. TNA already has Christy Hemme who is basically in the same position, all looks, little wrestling skill. ROH would have no use for her. She will make a lot of money doing the autograph circuit though!

Helms aka the Hurricane- He is a pretty solid wrestler once he drops the hurricane BS, as he will have to because WWE more than likely owns that, he could show every one the actual skills he has, like he did in WCW towards the end, as Cruiserweight champion, before he was saddled with the god awful hurricane gimmick. He works well in the specialty ladder matches and does have a pretty vast arsenal of moves to work with. He also has many friends in the business with Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore and such so he will land on his feet.

** I would think that if Jeff Hardy ends up going to TNA with Shannon Moore that Helms would not be far behind. I could not see Helms being a major player in TNA but he could have a run in the X division or just a hanger on of Jeff and Shannon. Helms could fit well in ROH cause of his wrestling skill and have a run there if he goes that route. As well as he could make good money doing indy shows cause lots of people will know him cause of his run with WCW/WWE and his recent exploits in TMZ.

Charlie Haas- This was added in on Sunday. He is a great technical wrestler. Has the size at 6'2'' and has the amateur wrestling background. He is a bit old at 37 but still could have a good amount to give to the wrestling community. The question with him is his desire if he wants to be a wrestler any more. He has a nutrition shop in Texas and is married and has kids so he may just hang up the boots.
*** I would say that he would end up in TNA cause supposedly Kurt Angle tried to get him in there already a year or so back. He could be a good mid card guy in TNA or a Manager for Kurt Angle or something. I just don't see him being useful to TNA but he has not been allowed to show much during his run in WWE so I can't really judge what he could do with a push. He could also have a future in ROH cause he does have the skill to hang with the best of them and was always under used.

Charlie Haas- Wasn't being used at all, most likely will either retire to focus on his family and his nutrition business, or Kurt will finally convince him to come into TNA. (Though I wouldn't rule out him returning in a few years to the WWE as a trainer or agent.) Shame too, because he was actually somewhat good in the ring. Just absolutely zero charisma.

Burchill- Wow, the WWE really dropped the ball on him. Athletic, built like a linebacker, and the C-4 to top it off. A little more work on the mic and he could have been spectacular. This probably came out of creative not having anything for him after his feud with Helms.

Maria- Okay, this one was surprising. She'll focus more on her television career for a couple years, get brought back by the WWE when they realize how huge of a crossover star she is.

Helms- Just wasn't the same after he got hurt. Extremely good in the ring, I thought they would have kept him on as an agent or a trainer.

Im going to go ahead and disagree with those people who think that Paul Burchill or Gregory Helms should be hired by TNA.

Burchill is a big guy, but just because your a big guy doesn't mean your a talented or interesting wrestler. Personally, whenever he came on TV I changed the channel. The only future I saw with him was to pair him up with William Regal, since they had a similar style and they are both English. Maybe they didn't do that because there is a heel English faction in TNA, or they just didn't think of it, or they didn't think it was a good idea. The bottom line is, Katie Lee Burchill bought him another 2 years in the WWE.

Gregory Helms is another example of just another boring gimmick that had its run and time was up. What doesn't help him is that he was in a feud with the equally uninteresting Paul Burchill for the past year. His whole "Hurricane" shtick was silly and I am happy they let him go.

These are guys that TNA should not pick up. They have enough WWE mid-carders, they might as well develop their own talent.

Everybody Has Good Arguments here, But There Is No Denying The Fact That One Of These Wrestlers Could Come Back In The Their Future, Me Personally Would Like To See The Hurricane Either In TNA Or WWE Again But As For Maria She Should Retire From The Business, And Burchill Should Stay In Indepenents.

Paul Burchill had to be released he was completley bad in the ring the guy just could not wrestle period he was completey boring and i new he was not going to last when ecw wet of the air but The Hurricane and Maria being released was a very huge shock to me exspecialy maria she was not onley popular with the fans but was well liked by all the wrestlers.

It's a real shame, specially that Benjamin came to smackdown.. they could of at least had a match... but I'm being unrealistic in WWE terms..

Hope he jumps to TNA, i remember hearing that TNA were interested in him

also my first post here.. hooray! haha
