WWE Payback: Daniel Bryan Segment

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
It's not often that an in-ring promo segment is announced for a ppv, but this is an interesting little hook to draw some additional viewers to the show. If Bryan doesn't surrender the title this Sunday, Stephanie McMahon will "fire" Brie Bella.

I don't expect Bryan to surrender the title as it would still play into the notion of Triple H & Stephanie believing it'd make Bryan a "martyr", as Steph said last night and Triple H stated last week during his in-character sit down interview for WWE.com. The natural inclination will be for a man to "protect" his wife, so I'm expecting Brie Bella to come stalking out to the ring just before Bryan is about to hand over the straps, walks up to Stephanie, tells her what she thinks of her, says that she's "quitting" and starts to lay a beat down on Stephanie. As this is going on, Kane's pyro & music hits with him stalking down the ramp and climbing into the ring. Stephanie's screeching for Kane to decimate Brie, prompting Bryan to successfully defend her from Kane, possibly even removing his neck brace to reveal that he's either recovered or is much closer to a recovery than expected. So, the issue remains unresolved for a while longer but Stephanie winds up getting a little taste of what people have wanted to see happen to her for the better part of a year. The segment ends with Bryan & Brie leading an enthusiastic crowd in a bit Yes chant.

I expect something along those lines to go down because it'll just be pretty anti-climactic for Bryan to merely hand over the title. Stephanie winds up so pissed off that, at some point, she might demand that Brie face her in the ring or Brie challenges her and gets her job back if she wins. I suspect there'll still be one more bout against Kane for Daniel Bryan because as much as most prefer to see him move on, possibly at MITB though I'd personally rather see the title defended on Raw with Bryan facing a new opponent for MITB, depending upon if Bryan's recovery is expected to be much sooner than has been reported/speculated upon. I doubt they'll let the issue of Bryan being "injured" by Kane go unresolved.

It's hard to make a judgement call on this segment without knowing the actual extent of Daniel Bryan's neck injury. I like the way that you see things going, but to be honest, I couldn't care less anymore. Call it the booking, call it the feud, call it whatever you want, but I've never been less concerned about a title feud.

I hope for his sake that he's getting the actual care he needs, and he's doing the long term best thing. But all in all, I think there's no way that Daniel Bryan drops the title at Payback.

This might be a bold prediction, certainly as I haven't got round to watching Raw yet, but a hunch I have is that Brie Bella will end up facing Kane for the title. Brie defending it on the behalf of Bryan and Kane taking a quick pinfall victory. That way when Bryan is ready he can quickly destroy Kane and take the title back.

Could she not have just put him in a match with Kane? If he doesn't compete then he loses the belt. The thought of Brie being involved (and thus showing her acting skills) is harrowing but it serves a purpose. Get the belt of Bryan without him looking like a wimp.

This could end up with a match with Kane and him getting the belt. I wouldn't mind Steph taking the belt of him and them using it in the 6-man but that is unlikely. Bryan shouldn't walk out champ so it will either vacated or on Kane.

To be honest, looking back on everything FOLLOWING Extreme Rules, I would be much more impressed with the writing had Daniel Bryan merely handed the belts over last night, and they left Brie out completely. As long as he continues to follow this Vince Russo-esque branch, his title reign is going to be considered a joke instead of the result of well over a year of intense dedication to the WWEWHC/ main event picture.

That's why I think that this segment on "The Payback PPV" is going to be pretty bad.

The only possible way to make the segment good at payback is by having Vince come back or what if the "board" assigned a "new" gm since the old one got fired. Then he can have bryan keep the title and let brie keep her job even though she doesn't deserve it. They have to take advantage of the Chicago crowd and how over bryan will be and how hated stephanie will be. You can't have bryan get stripped of title because since Chicago is one of those crowds.... We might get a riot of some sort

This is hard to tell, without knowing the full extent of DB's Neck injury.. We all know he wont surrender the belt,Brie will quit before that happens.. I am going to put a wild card in here,i say Brock Lesnar returns and beats Daniel Bryan down.. We all know DB wont hand over the title, but a confrontation i can see happening..

Brock is coming back soon, why not at this PPV and challenge Bryan for the strap at MITB! I can see as well Brie going against Stephanie for her job at MITB as well.. Steph, looks good,is in shape and it wouldn't be bad match.. Any Diva is better than eva Marie, hell even the late Sapphire was

This could go a number of different ways. At the end of the day, I predict Kane will leave Payback as the world champion. For a while I figured WWE would vacate the title for a tournament or a gimmick match. But since Kane has done the Authority's bidding and because WWE has not named any new number one contenders, it stands to reason that Kane would be next in line to be awarded the gold or to win the gold.

Revealing that Daniel Bryan is further along in recovery than expected would be quite the twist. But I see Brie Bella as a pawn for Bryan losing the belt. Perhaps in some sort of throw in the towel scenario? Either Bryan throws in the towel in a theoretical Kane vs. Brie Bella title match, or Brie throws in the towel for Bryan at the start of a Kane vs. Bryan title match.

This is almost impossible to give an opinion on since the extent of Daniel Bryan's injury is unknown.

I think Daniel Bryan should've been booked in a title match with Kane, and if he doesn't compete he will forfeit the title.

However, I see Daniel Bryan about to give the title to Stephanie, then Brie comes down and quits. Kane comes down and Bryan fends him off.

Look the WWE has a 30 day rule invoke it and leave Brie out....

The Belles to Me are soooooo OVER RATED

Besides DB is stinking up the joint....

Did U see that promo last night? He was begging the crowd to chant with hi and HE LOOKED LIKE AZZ WHOLE when they DIDNT....

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

It looked sooooooo SAD!!!!

I have been saying it and stand by it Daniel Bryan is so not a WWE CHAMPION!!!!

Obviously just as Bryan is about to hand Steph the belts CM Punk's music will hit and he'll reveal that he is the new Raw GM and put Steph over his knee for a good spanking in front of the Chi town faithful.......

Ahem, I don't see Bryan giving the titles up, something will happen to prevent that and it can only really be one of two things, a new power figure/Vince showing up to prevent Steph's actions, or Brie quitting of her own accord to prevent Bryan having to make the call.

Any of a number of things could happen here. Daniel Bryan could hand off the belt, to a tidal wave of negative reactions from the crowd, only for them to explode into excitement when CM Punk returns. Bryan could reveal that he is cleared to compete after all leading Stephanie to send Kane out for a rematch. Bryan could refuse to hand the belt over despite the risk of Brie getting fired. I personally would not miss her at all, but I don't see her getting fired unfortunately. Maybe we'll see a mixed tag team match get added at the last minute between Stephanie and Triple H VS Daniel Bryan and Brie. Or maybe it will simply just be Trips with Stephanie in his corner forcing Bryan to defend the belt against him, with Brie in his corner.

Could this be the last part of the show instead of one of the actual matches? It very well might, which would be odd. One thing is for certain.... it will be interesting to see what happens here. I say that with a bit of hesitation as this card does not have a world title match on it. That is a very strange thing. There's no longer a second world title to fall back on and have close the show. Luckily there's still the Evolution VS Shield match, but that's a whole other topic. I predict that Daniel Bryan will not surrender the belt. He walks out of WWE Payback 2014 still the World Heavyweight Champion regardless of if he gets placed into a last minute match or not.

I'm glad they dropped the cliched horror movie bullshit, but I honestly don't care about the Brie Bella being fired stuff, because I have hard time believing in Stephanie actually "firing" Brie. Obviously, there's some kind of swerve coming. Maybe Bryan finds a loophole for champions in his contract, or Brie sacrifices herself for Bryan. Either way, Daniel Bryan walks out of Payback as WWE WHC.

I really don't see a single extra person tuning in to see this PPV just because of the Bryan segment. Personally I'd rather not see it, cause unless Vince shows up as a face to save the day, it will just be as lame as all the other segments they had building this up.

I think a tournament of some kind for the title or a gimmick match for the belt might of drew in more people to watch.

This could be a win-win situation, really. Bryan keeps the title, and we never have to see Brie Bella again.

I dont get what the problem is.

Creative way to make something interesting out of a bad situation.

Like others have said this is a hard one to predict since we don't know the extent of Bryan's injury. I think it is possible we will see a new GM make his debut tonight, and allow Bryan to keep the title. Brie Bella could also sacrifice herself so Bryan keeps the title. I don't see Kane ending up with the title here. I imagine there will be some kind of swerve here in a new GM or a returning superstar, but I feel Bryan will still be champion after tonight.
