So yet again we're gonna see Lawler vs. Cole one more time (We hope the last) and this time JR is getting in the ring. All I can say is that I hope that this is the resolution to the storyline that we should have gotten at Wrestlemania. We all know Cole can't wrestle. JR can't wrestle, so let's not drag this match on. Let Cole get his ass handed to him the right way and be done with it and let JR be back at the announce table where he belongs cause I don't want another year of Cole doing this. My problem is not his heel character, my problem is that while he does that job, he fails at doing the other one: Calling the match. The announcer is supposed to tell a story, help the viewing audience invest into the characters in the ring and the action going on in the ring. He doesn't do either one. So memo to the WWE: If you're going to do this match, fine but this time GET IT RIGHT!!!!

I can see this match as the final farewell to Michael Cole the announcer. With the creative team teasing what could be a possible face turn for Swagger (probably a way to help fill the void left by Edge), the odds are stacked against Cole. This match alone could simply be a way to put Swagger over as a face and to put Lawler and JR in the announce table. I think its time for Swagger to step up, in a time when Smackdown needs there young stars more than ever.

Agreed. There's no way Swagger will help Cole after tonight. You saw that look? Swagger wanted to tear him to pieces. I've got no problem with Cole as a character, but he can't be both an announcer and his character. It doesn't work, it tarnishes the product, and it prevents anyone from getting over by the story being told because it leaves the viewers sick of having to hear Cole only put over his character. They need to do this the right way. They can't afford another train wreck like the match at Mania.

Having Swagger turn against Cole would instantly give him cred as a face since Cole is a heat machine. I missed Raw, did the crowd actually get behind Swagger?

Hard to tell. They were paying more attention to Lawler announcing the match at Extreme Rules. I also think Swagger has gone as far as he can as a heel. As a heel, he's boring and lacking charisma. Let's see how he can do as a face. Plus who knows, the WWE may not feel Christian is ready for a world title run, so if pushed as a face works, maybe it can work for Swagger. He hasn't done much since his first world title run which was too soon.

Little to no interest in this match but since this is "Extreme" Rules I'd love to see the WWE lift the ban for one night so The King can dust off the piledriver and drop Cole on his head.

I think this will be the vehicle for a Jack Swagger face turn. I don't know why there would be any other reason to have a match involving 3 announcers (even though one is a part time wrestler) than to orchestrate a turn for Swag. He's the only one who is set to benefit from this

I wouldn't say the only one to benefit. Him most from this, but it benefits because it gives the fans what they want in having Lawler beat Cole once and for all, and it gives us having JR (hopefully) back at the announce table. And it as said above, it gives Cole the chance to break from the announce table and just be a manager or something. This is a 2nd chance for the WWE to do it right this time.

Why are they gonna drag JR in the ring? All the wrestlers on the rosters and they need to use JR? They said extreme rules I thought old school. Make Jerry and the people happy.Lawler vs Cole in a good old fashioned strap match. It would work, everybody hates Cole.

It's because nobody wants a long match. nobody wants Cole to get in any offense at all. They just want to see him drilled into the mat and away from any announce table in WWE

A triple threat AND a tag team match? I dont know how the fuck WWE considers anyone of these two matches "extreme". It is "Extreme Rules". This match will be just as god awful as the one at WM.

I am losing so much respect for Jim Ross on a weekly basis.
This guy is a legend, the greatest announcer ever i would say and yet he is treated like crap by Vince McMahon and the WWE.

With all the crap he has gotten recently... the ankle lock (which looked pretty hard) and the recent BBQ sauce in the eyes... why does he keep coming back for more.

I can only think that JR will get a beat down at Extreme Rules and probably take the fall for Michael Cole.

I didnt care for the Lawler/Cole match at Mania as it went 20minutes too long and now this tag team match means nothing to me.

I can only think that Jack Swagger has annoyed someone so much to end up in a tag team match at an extreme rules PPV with 3 announcers.

Jerry Lawler competing in 3 consecutive PPVs. Well this truly sucks for 2011. I have zero interest in seeing Lawler, JR or cole in a ring even if it is beneficial for a storyline. The only thing I can hope is that JR, King and Swagger all give Cole a chairshot to the head and he is written off of WWE TV for the forseeable future.

Imo, instead of Lawler/JR vs Swagger/Cole it should've been Swagger/Cole vs Lawler/Daniel Bryan with JR as their manager. I mean after months of insults by Cole and a true conclusion to their previous feud, it would've been perfect to have Daniel Bryan finally get his hands on Cole and really take it to him. Plus in terms of wrestling, having both Swagger and Bryan in the match and fighting each other would entertain the crowd. Lawler of course will do his thing and pound Cole. Also it would be sweet when Swagger finally turns on Cole in the match that Cole really gets what he deserves by having Swagger put him in the ankle lock and Bryan and Lawler shouting insults at Cole maybe even call him a 'Loser'. Then end it with JR pouring sauce on his fallen form.

Imo it would've been a better booked match and a more fitting conclusion to the Cole saga if it was Swagger/Cole vs Lawler/Bryan with JR as manager. What do you guys think?

I agree 100% with you here. Daniel Bryan and Jack Swagger would put on a great technical match. Jerry Lawler himself is also a good wrestler, so they could utilize him. You could also play it out so that Cole keeps pushing Swagger past his limits, then Swagger tags him in and feeds him to the face team. I also like your idea of the Ankle lock applied after the match is over, Bryan insulting him, and JR spilling sauce on him. The fans would love it!

I think the only problem with inserting Bryan into the match is that he and Swagger may have stolen some of the limelight from a personal feud between Cole and Lawler. I do like the idea and would have preferred Bryan teaming with Lawler at Extreme Rules instead of JR, but I can see why they didn't put Bryan into it as the build up for Lawler was that he'd never wrestled at Mania.

This feud seems to be feeding an eventual Swagger face turn at this point anyways. Swagger could have a great feud with Bryan later after the turn, which it seems will happen at Extreme Rules. Either way, they need to end the feud at Extreme Rules, turn Swagger face, bring JR back for a bit, End Cole's TV time, and start something new.

Looking very forward to seeing face Swagger feud with heel Del Rio. :)

This would have been a much better fit. JR has even said in his blog that he wished King would have picked a different partner. I mean, Cole still tends to harp on Bryan being the "internet darling" and all that repetitive crap, so what better than to have Cole's three biggest targets (again, JR as manager), shut him up.
I'm not so sure about the Swagger turn mid match though. Perhaps after the match, have Bryan apply the Labell lock, while JR covers him in BBQ. Swagger comes in, supposedly to run off the faces, then applies the ankle lock along with the Labell lock, sending Cole off TV for God knows how long.

I agree and they may change it yet. If they were smart they would have JR manage or provide commentary for the match. Also regarding Extreme Rules, am I the only one who wonders if R-Truth's spot in the Triple Threat was initially supposed to be John Morrison? But they switched it because he decided he wanted to be the biggest diva in the WWE by being cold to Trish Stratus. Just a thought.

The Cole/Lawler feud should have been settled in Wrestlemania already, here they should use this chance to give the people what they want and humiliate Cole completely. The way Cole sacrificed himself to Swagger gets me confused though. He took a 619 instead of Swagger and all of that. Seems like he tries to get him "back".

The feud is over. I like it, I used to hate it, but they're using less Lawler so I'm okay with it.

It feels kinda old school, like pre Attitude era (yes guys, there was wrestling before the attitude era that wasn't all that different from today). "Kiss my foot" little shit heel that you know anyone could kick his ass. It's fun.

According to WWE.com, this match is now going to be a street fight. It makes sense when you consider how limited Jim Ross & Michael Cole would be in a standard wrestling match.

I have a feeling this match will be the big blow off to the Jerry Lawler/Michael Cole feud. When it's all said and done, I'd say there's a chance that Cole will be taken off tv for a while or he'll be transferred to SmackDown! exclusively.

Thank god this should blow this feud off. I loved it at first, and voiced how much I loved the build in the Wrestlemania thread for this feud. The result at Mania pissed me off. It should have ended there and then. Lawler should beat the 40 shades of green out of Cole at Mania, like all who bought it expected, and more importantly wanted. The feud has lost a step after Mania, which is not suprising, all things considered. If WWE wanted the feud to continue to Extreme rules, they should have me wanted Cole to get his ass kicked at Extreme Rules, the feeling I had for Mania. Instead, I just want it finished, over with, not too flustered how the match goes once Lawler wins. The segment last night was okay, I liked parts, and other parts it was silly.

Overall, I liked the feud, though I would have loved it if it ended at Mania. he match won't be anything to behold, but since it is a street fight, it will be more bareable. Lawler and Ross to win.

shows after mania are often like "trickles" of Mania. This is no different. I don't take any PPV all that serious until SummerSlam.

As a street fight this will be fun, maybe Swagger turns and completely beats the shit out of Cole the whole time.
