Hey guys, and welcome to my first BTB/Book this! on WrestleZone. I will start it off with the backstory, and then the roster.
WWE.com ANNOUNCEMENT!
BACKSTORY
WWE is coming off the back of an enthralling Wrestlemania 29, with the HUGE news that the Brand Extension is back in place, and has been dubbed 'The Re-Brand Extension' by many. After Wrestlemania, today on WWE.com, Monday April 8th 2013, the superstars were allocated to their respective brands by WWE Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon along with his Board Of Directors. These rosters will be revealed later on, along with the respective GM's of the shows being revealed on Raw. Now, on to the Grandest Stage Of Them All, and the results from Wrestlemania 29!
Match 1: Team Hell! No def PTP, Epico and Primo and The Usos
The most dysfunctional Tag Team in all of Wrestling somehow retained their Titles amongst bickering and arguing for months on end. THN showed why they are the Tag Champs with a solid, fluid display.
Match 2: Mark Henry def. Randy Orton
For months, years maybe, this rivalry was brewing. Ever since Henry defeated Orton for the WHC back in 2011, Orton has seemed to want to get one back on the Big Man. He got his chance, and duly took it, at Elimination Chamber, when a thunderous RKO eliminated Henry from the match. Enraged, Henry took out everyone, something Orton wasn't too pleased about. He challenged Henry to a match after weeks of back and forth bickering, and Henry accepted. However, Orton may be regretting that decision this morning, as a HUGE WSS knocked him out for the count at Mania!
Match 3: WHC- Alberto Del Rio def. Jack Swagger to retain
Del Rio and Swagger had had some heated arguements over a touchy subject coming into Mania: Immigration. Whilst Swagger and his manager, Zeb Coulter, claimed Alberto was a border hopper, and in the US illegally, our WHC strongly denied these claims, and went so far as to promise all the Americans and Hispanics alike that he would shut Sagger's mouth at Mania. And he did just that when he forced him to tap out with his patented Cross Arm Breaker.
Match 4: Dolph Ziggler def. Chris Jericho
Dolph Ziggler and chris Jericho: One of the most heated feuds in the last year or so in WWE, and it made for a truly great Wrestlemania matchup. Going into the match, Dolph compared this match to Jericho vs. Michaels at WM 19, but only he was going to beat his former hero. And he did just that, albeit with the help of Big E and AJ. Jericho signalled that this feud was far from over, when he layed Ziggler and Big E. out with Codebreaker's post match.
Match 5: US Championship: The Miz def. Cesaro to become the NEW US CHAMPION!
finally, The Awesome One defeated the man who has been haunting him for so long, and got his hands on gold once more. In the build up to this match, Cesaro argued the only way Miz could beat him again, was if Cesaro was as jaded as he was the night after EC. He says no American can beat him in a fair fight. Miz proved him wrong when he won the match with the SKF.
Match 6: The Shield def. Ryback, Sheamus (Elimination Tag Team Match)
This match was in the making since Survivor Series. The Shield- Unbeaten in three proper matches, and seemingly unbeatable. However, Sheamus and Ryback nearly, so nearly got the job done. The stipulation was added that if the Shield lose, they would disband, but if they don't, two of them get a shot at the Tag Team Titles. After Ryback was taken out early, it was a 3 vs. 1 assault on Sheamus, and although he got a Brogue Kick on Rollins and pinned him, Rollins rolled him up to Eliminate him. Ryback elimianted Ambrose, and looked set to end The Shield, when Ambrose and Rollins attacked him, and Reigns speared him for the win!
Match 7: IC Championship: Wade Barrett def. Bo Dallas to retain the Title
This build was fairly simple. David vs. Goliath, plucky underdog vs. Cocky Champion. However, there was no fairytale ending for Dallas, as Barrett picked up the win after a Second Wasteland finally kept the resiliant Bo down.
Match 8: HHH/Undertaker (w/ Vince McMahon) def. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk (w/ Paul Heyman)
When Vince and Heyman fought, Lesnar attacked Vince, but Hunter seemingly saved the day until CM Punk came from behind and attacked him. In the match between Cena and Punk, Punk is on top thanks to a interference by Brock. Suddenly GONG! Undertaker is back, and takes both Brock and CM Punk out. In the coming weeks, they go back and forth before the Tag Match is announced. There is tension in both Teams, as both Punk and Brock want to end the Streak, and they both want their hands on the Game. Also, Taker doesn't trust Hunter, and says if he costs him there will be hell to pay. Come the match, and it's a classic, with HHH and Taker picking up a HUGE victory via the Tombstone to Punk. After the match, Brock F-5's Punk through the Announce Table in frustration, to Heyman's terror.
Match 9: Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow def. Booker T and Goldust (If Booker T's team loses, Booker T is fired from the GM status)
At Raw in Texas, Goldust returned to take out his brother, and demanded a match with him. Cody said he wouldn't accept unless Sandow was involved, and told Booker this. Booker had a better idea and challenged Cody to a Tag Match. Cody Accepted on One simple Condition. Booker's team loses, he's fired. Booker accepts and the feud continues with brawls in the back, sneak attacks, and creepy Goldust segments. It culminates in a great match, with Cody and Damien picking up a huge victory!
Match 10: WWE Championship: John Cena def. The Rock to win the WWE Championship
After Cena won the Rumble, and Rock beat Punk at EC. the stage was set for the biggest rematch of all Time. The two went back and forth on the mic, and just 6 days prior to Mania, were forced to team up against Punk and Brock, and it ended in chaos when HHH and Taker hit the ring, and the night ended in an all out brawl. at Mania though, the winner was obvious, after Cena pinned Rock after his THIRD AA!
