From WWE.com's "14 Superstars You Didn't Know Were In WWE said:
Samoa Joe became an icon on the independent wrestling scene throughout much of the 2000s by treating his opponents’ heads like they were soccer balls. A rival of both Daniel Bryan and CM Punk during their early years with the Ring of Honor promotion, the hard-hitting Samoan even battled Kenta Kobashi in the Japanese icon’s most famous North American match.
Joe earned his ardent fan base the hard way. But before he compelled supporters to chant “You’re going to get your head kicked in!” at his shaken opponents, the near 300-pounder made a sole WWE appearance in March 2001. Competing on WWE Jakked only a few years into his career, a young Joe struggled against former WWE Light Heavyweight Champion Essa Rios in an inauspicious national debut. The burly Samoan would go on to kick the teeth out of every major independent wrestler around, but he would not be seen in WWE again.

Nice. Very nice of them. But no Daniels or AJ Styles?

Ever since Joey Styles has took over the site, it's gradually catered more and more to internet wrestling fans, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

Instances like this as well as the way that the Joe/Punk feud was covered on the Punk DVD, combined with praise that Joe has gotten from the likes of JR and Stone Cold, leads me to believe that if Joe were to become a free agent that the WWE would make a serious play to convince him to jump ship.

Here is the match in question BTW...

No no no no. Samoa Joe works in TNA, and TNA doesn't exist, so Samoa Joe can't exist! The only thing worse for TNA than WWE pretending they don't exist is acknowledging you exist in the expectation that you can't do anything about your position. Nice for Joe, though, to have it known WWE acknowledges him.

Samoa Joe has had many chances to "jump ship".

Every time his contract expired he had the chance to sign with the WWE and I believe that he once was offered a very lucrative deal but he instead chose to join TNA, who have employed him ever since which I welcome since Samoa Joe should be given a national stage.

But I am afraid that Samoa Joe's rather extended career in TNA has had some rather bad influence on his "market value" as a potential sign for the WWE. Fresh off the indipendent scene, he could have been able to get a good deal but now I am afraid he is not a person of interest anymore as much as it will pain many people online.

He once was this pistol hot indy star that everyone was talking about but now he is just that guy on TNA that's feuding with Magnus. That might seem a little too harsh but the WWE is known for rather one-sided viewpoints.
