WWE 2K16 Thread

We need at least 500 create a wrestler slots.

geez settle down way to set a realistic expectation

needs for the game is solid gameplay first, then game modes, then creation suite (or whatever the fuck they want to call it this year) and then the roster.

I love them, but my point was to temper your excitement, depending on your expectations. If you're looking for Arn Anderson and Ric Flair, but get Koko and Jim...Don't say I didn't warn you :lmao:
But as you can tell if I'm excited by the Bushwhackers, I'll be excited by pretty much anything.

And I'd rather not have Flair. I'm bored by him. We get him every year. We don't get Koko B Ware every year.

The only time I was disappointed was when we had Hillbilly Jim instead of Hulk Hogan, and Hillbilly Jim pretty much had Hogans moveset and even taunts (I think this was the year after Hogan wrestled Orton and then had yet another falling out with WWE). I wasn't pissed about Jim, but pissed that it was a lazy version.

Hell, I hope we get Akeem/One Man Gang, Big Boss Man, Slick (Manager obviously), The Rockers, Hart Foundation, Demolition, LOD. Any combination of those 80's teams that'd be awesome. I'd rather have WWF guys than NWA/WCW guys.

His status as one of the all-time greats is why he's always there. Instead of giving us old man Flair, they need to give us 80's Flair.

Koko may have been a bad example, since he was, and still is, a fan favorite. Maybe I should have gone with Sam Houston?

They had to have been too far in the creation process to just delete everything altogether. And, by using Jim as an avatar, that puts Hogan's moves in the game, and then CAW becomes so much better.

Akeem/OMG would be solid, especially if they add in Boss Man and Slick. The tag teams are all obviously a great idea, especially if the current WWE is serious about building up their tag division. It could never hurt to pay respects to the golden age.

There's certainly some WCW/NWA guys that would be great though. I doubt they'd dig this deep, but Magnum TA would be cool, or Brian Pillman.

While I'm OK with the notion of non WWE guys I'd rather have a legends roster of just WWE guys. Magnum TV would be a cool addition based on his legacy and being that he hasn't ever been in a game. And if my Tag Team concept is there and you want non WWE teams, well the Von Erichs and the Freebirds damn well better be on that list.

Oh and I only wanted Akeem in the game so we can get him 0 and Slick, more importantly Slicks music....

I would expect the Freebirds, if they were going this route. As for classic teams, it'd probably be the main ones you already listed, and maybe the Midnight Express. I'd hope they'd avoid the mid-late 90's (Chip/Zip, Head Cheese, etc.)

But...but he used to say "ass" and flip people off!!
Lol...Attitude Era rulez!
Some NXT alt covers would be a nice touch for special pre-order.
I don't understand the fascination with minor leaguers in a pro wrestling game. I'd rather see more match types or different arenas (or better customization for these type of things).

Also...why do people pre-order games? I've never understood that. "Here, please take my money, Batman: Arkham Knight! I don't mind paying a lot of money just to be a beta tester for your unplayable game!"

People need to quit pre-ordering. It's silly.

I have not bought many games in the last decade & I think the last wrestling related one was actually SD vs Raw 09. The 'minor leaguers' in question just happen to be better than half the main roster guys, so why wouldnt we want to see them in the game?

Now that I've actually played 2k15 for about a week and a bit now

Gameplay
I'm sure someone probably said this at the start but the kick-out method needs to change to something that isn't prone to lag so much. Technical wrestling should be limited to certain superstars, doesn't make sense to have powerhouse wrestlers trying to lock up with each other. Opponents are a bit reversal happy on legendary. Which i'm not overly bothered with, but if they are going to try for that simulation style then i dont feel like thats the way to go. Obviously the variety of match types needs to come back. Need more animations for reversals, its just arm ddts and russian leg sweeps.

Universe
I think the game needs to be able to distinguish between an average match on raw and the main event of wrestlemania in universe mode. You really shouldnt need to be hitting 2 finishers to beat Titus O'Neil on the opening match of smackdown. Especially if you're going to make the CPU so reversal happy on signature and finishing moves. After playing '13 i thought universe mode needed something that distinguished between main eventers, the mid carders and the tag division. I still feel something like that needs to be in place as Cesaro suddenly became the number 1 contender to both the world and intercontinental championships in a week.

Showcase
Showcase either needs to be longer or have more rivalries that arent dlc. The former Road to Wrestlemania mode once gave us 5 stories right out the gate with probably the same amount of matches in each as the HBK/HHH showcase story.
Creation Suite
GET AS MUCH OF THE OLD STUFF BACK ASAP
Logo uploader was a brilliant idea even if I kept getting an error message every time I tried it.

I don't even remember the last one I purchased. I think I've bought one since SD vs. Raw 09, but I'm not sure. When did TNA Impact come out?

:lmao:

No they're not. If they were, they'd be on the main roster already.

so why wouldnt we want to see them in the game?
For the same reason no one gets excited about the NBA D-League in a video game.

I actually forgot TNA had a game.

As far as the NXT guys go, clearly some are on the way up way faster than some on the main roster were. Plus the well established guys were so before signing on with WWE. Being on the main roster for being decent & familiar with the style is not the same as being flat out good & taking a bit to adjust.

As I've explained in numerous mediums, both print and audio, the main roster shows and nxt are catered towards different tastes. One may appeal more to some than others. It actually has little to do with the talent level or ability of those on either show why they appeal more to you.

Case in point, as we have seen the last two weeks, if given time, cena and cesaro could rock out with the best down in nxt.

It's just catered do different folks.

The cover star of WWE 2k16 is......

I think the only reason I can think they're doing this is because 2016 will be the 20th Anniversary of Austin 3:16. Would have been nice if there was an alternative cover, like how they had Bryan as an alternative to The Rock.

Cena was on it last year. Bryan is injured. Rollins is a heel. Brock is a tough choice given his role - naybe next year. The only guy it could have been is Reigns and I'm sure he'll get his chance .

As for NXT, there is definitely a selling point by putting some of these guys in the game. Even if it does just boost the roster size; it's pretty cool. Plus the idea Balor and Zayn aren't better than Slater is ridiculous.

Any idea when they release the roster? Don't understand why they'll say there's 120 superstars than only name 6 of them, none of whom anybody thought would stand a chance of missing out on this game

Anyway I'm probably gonna get this, provided the reviews are significantly better than 2k15. I actually haven't bought one of the 2K games yet. The last wrestling game I bought was SVR2011. Hoping for improvements on gameplay, everything that sounded so shitty about 2k15 to be completely undone, more custom entrances and music that don't belong to specific superstars, a more engaging universe mode with the focus on being the booker, more engaging and varied story modes, more than 6 wrestlers allowed to compete at once (who even has like 6 controllers? Never understood why they'd only let us have 6 in at a time - it meant doing Survivor Series on Universe was the utter shits) and oh um what else.. oh yeah, Samoa Joe

PS4 just installed a media player a couple weeks ago, so I doubt they will be able to work in custom theme music this year. However with 120 superstars, and possibly different variations of their themes, you should be able to find something to fit what you want for your character.

Hard to get excited about a wrestling gem who's selling point is a guy who appears in the game almost yearly and has in games for over fifteen years.

Where's that Monday Night Wars themed game?
