Mid-Card Championship Winner
I don't think it's all that premature to start thinking who's going to main event WrestleMania 32. The creative is definitely talking about this so we should too.
Here are the options that I can see for the WM32 main event and how the Rumble will look like:
1. John Cena (for John Cena vs. Roman Reigns)- To officially pass the torch. In theory, the best way for this story to be told is for Cena to win the title off of Seth or any other intermediary, and then Roman wins the Rumble again. However, to avoid another crash and burn like 2015, they might go in a different direction. Roman wins the title around SummerSlam and gets the crowd used to him, when Cena wins the Rumble for a 3rd time and fights to keep his spot. Roman retains, and continues his long reign as a fighting champion, just like Cena used to be.
2. Brock Lesnar (for Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins)- Without taking into consideration future writing, this is probably the money match as of what they have already booked. People want to see Brock get his hands on him and if Seth weasels his way into keeping the title by WrestleMania 32, WWE might want to have Brock win the Rumble and take the title off him at the grandest stage. He would probably lose the title at Extreme Rules due to his limited schedule, but the story they want to tell would be complete.
3. Roman Reigns (for Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns II)- Twice in a lifetime. This will be simple enough. Brock beats Seth for the title at the Rumble and gets his comeuppance there, and Roman wins the Rumble again to face him. Rerun from last year, but this time, there will be a winner. I personally don't like this idea at all, but I wouldn't put it past WWE to do it. They could also go the backwards way of having Roman be the fighting champ who thwarts Brock the Rumble winner, but setting up Brock for a long journey to win the title is just asking for the audience to boo Roman.
4. Bray Wyatt (for Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt)- They always have a big program for Bray leading up to Mania and they've kept him and Roman far apart for a reason. They might be thinking of going this route for WrestleMania. If Roman is a fighting champ by the time the Rumble comes around, Bray could win the title shot and face Roman at the big event. If they do Sting/Taker, Triple H/Rock and Brock/Seth or other top matches like that on the show, there's an outside chance that this will not be the main event.
5. Triple H (for Roman Reigns vs. Triple H)- After Roman crushes all members of the Authority one by one, Triple H could come back to win the Rumble and try and beat Roman himself. A lot of people wonder why Triple H needed the win at WM31, but it could be because Triple H is looking to main event WM32 and needed some momentum to do so. This would give Roman a strong win and save Cena/Roman and Brock/Roman II for future Manias.
6. Dean Ambrose (for a Shield Triple Threat)- I could have sworn they were saving this for WrestleMania, but now I'm not so sure. If they were saving this for WM32, they wouldn't have put all Shield members against each other at Payback like it was nothing. It still might be in the cards, and if it happens, Dean has to win the Rumble to get some momentum going. Roman and Seth will be in the title picture all year, but Dean needs the rub.
7. Rusev (for Roman Reigns vs. Rusev)- I don't know what the plans are for Rusev, but if they're going to build up anyone to feed to Roman at WrestleMania, it will probably be him. I'm not a fan of building anybody up to feed to Roman, but we all know that's WWE's M.O. when they have a new top guy. If the Roman push comes through, this could be a credible main event if Wyatt, Triple H and Cena all have other plans.
8. Seth Rollins (for Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins)- All signs are pointing to this match happening during 2015, and I doubt they'll retread it at WrestleMania. However, they might shuffle the title during the year to put the title on Roman without doing the straight up singles match. By the time Seth wins the Rumble with the Authority's help, Roman is a fighting champ and has to face the guy who cost him the title the year before.
9. Daniel Bryan (for Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins)- While I can't imagine WWE choosing this match to main event WM32, I can see them doing Brock/Rock or w/e as the big marquee match and have Seth face Bryan in the penultimate match. People go wild for Bryan's return, they give him the Yessemania push, and they have a nice solid penultimate match for WM32 while everyone else has big feuds that don't need the title (Roman/Cena, Rock/Brock, Sting/Taker, etc.)
10. Randy Orton (for Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton)- Cena got to win twice and Batista got to win twice, so it's only natural if Orton gets a 2nd win. If Brock beats Seth in his rematch and wins the title, Randy could swerve us by rejoining the Authority and facing Brock at WrestleMania. It's not the best twist, but it's probably the only way we get this match if Brock turns face.
So what do you guys think? Who's winning the Royal Rumble?
