People really need to look at Cody correctly. He's a Tag Team wrestler gone solo. He and Dibiase are going solo and trying to make themselves heard and they're doing it in different ways.
Ted has taken up the mantle of his father, a storyline that isn't so popular with some but I like it. I think it makes sense, he's received his inheritance and he's flashing it like any young, good looking guy with sudden money would. He bagged himself a beauty and is a cocky SOB.
Cody has gone the opposite way. He's done nothing to compare him to either his father or his brother. It's a whole new gimmick and he'll need to build it from the ground up and Smackdown is the perfect place for him to do that.
The usual comparison for Tag Teams is 'Who's gonna be the Janetty?' Well, lets freshen that up. Who is gonna be the Miz?
To explain myself on that, The Miz was the guy who had the smaller role as part of his team with Morrison. Morrison was more established, had a world title to his name and was seen as many as the next Shawn Michaels. He had the look and the excitement. The Miz was a bit of a misfit, noone really knew how to take him and his look was awful. They kind of complimented each other though and together they became a pretty good double act but when the end arrived, we were all pretty certain that the Miz would fade as Morrison's star continued to rise.
How wrong we were. One year ago, The Miz set the wheels in motion. We were initially annoyed by him. He wasn't even taken seriously by Cena who he repeatedly called out and claimed victory over. After being beaten by Cena, despite a few slightly impressive showings he came back with a new look and new attitude and has just become one of the reasons to watch Monday Nights.
I see Cody taking on that role. He's only just begun and it's looking similar. If he can take this arrogance and add to it aggression he can be a viable threat over on Smackdown and we will soon be considering him as an upper-mid carder.
