Who will be on WZ in 5 to 10 years from now?

Consider what I've accomplished with my technology skills. Throw in your brains and skills on a computer. I think you see where I'm going with this.

One more question if you don't mind: how would I go about setting up a website?

It doesn't. It costs $200 for a forum license

Oh. I was looking at the 4.0 publishing suite. Not sure how much better that is then a forums license.

Ok then. In no time, I will have a forums license, and soon those Icees will be mine!

Those are a WZ exclusive. I designed my own little wing of the Admin room. Whenever I say the word freckles I get a lap dance from the redhead in Wendy's ads.

Gah. Ok. I'll make sure I'll set up something like that too. I'll have to use knock off brand icees though.

You need to find a webhost first. You've heard of GoDaddy, I've used Justhost and 1and1 Hosting...you have to find someone who is willing to host your website on their servers. For example, atomiconline hosts WZ.

Once you find a good webhost, you come up with your domain name. The domain name is the URL name of yoursite, so for the main page, "wrestlezone.com" is the domain name.

Once you have all that set up, the easiest thing to do is find a good Content Management System (CMS). Something like Wordpress would work great for you, and it's free.

After that, it's only as difficult as you want to make it. You can fully customize your website, or you can leave the default. You can download templates from websites. All sorts of things.

It's really pretty simple.

The Publishing Suite basically just adds the CMS. I think the CMS and forums can work together.

I don't recommend the Publishing Suite though.

Considering I'm young, I wouldn't be able to purchase vBulletin at the time. What about phpBB? I heard that site is free. I am interested in making a forum based on football. I know there is a million of them out there, but it would be a fun experience none the less. Would you suggest phpBB to somebody who doesn't have the money to buy vBulletin?

So I'd go to say Godaddy and I'm assuming there's a step by step walkthrough for it?
It's been years since I've used GoDaddy, but I'm sure it's pretty simple.

But if I were you, I'd go with JustHost. The hosting is much cheaper, you get unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth (space determines how many files you can store, and bandwidth is how many people can view your site...for example, whenever our avatars go bad, it's because we've used up all of our bandwidth) and the domain name comes free.

phpBB isn't bad, but in order to have a forum, you have to have a web host. There are free web hosts out there, but you get domain names like "sully.web.dmx.com". With free hosts, you can't get "sully.com".

phpBB is decent for the price, but it has more security flaws and the privilege system is kind of hard to work with.

I think I'm going to give it a try. It'll be a small step process, but as long as I stay dedicated to it, and once I get it all set up, I have to actually stay dedicated to running it as well.

Now If I get one of these free hosts, and I do get a forum on it, would I be able to use the google ads option in order to make money, or because I'm own the site for free, I wouldn't be able too?

Probably would not be able to, since most free hosts include their own ads. That's how they are able to host yours for free.

But you would just have to read the fine print on your web host.

I'll probably set one up after/between now and Christmas. Thanks a lot Sly. I greatly appreciate this.
No problem, always happy to help with technology. If you have any more questions, or need the information repeated, feel free to ask.

Yeah, that didn't matter too much for me anyways, I just want the forum part.

Well I know I'm highly, highly interested in doing this.

You probably should look at a free forum site. There are sites out there which will host the forum for you, will do all the work to set it up, and all you have to do is run it. Just do a quick Google search and you can find many that host phpBB boards.

Odds are I will as this likely won't happen until closer to Christmas.
