Who needs new theme music and who shouldn't change their theme music?

If you want to mention a theme in this thread, please elaborate what is wrong or what is right in each of the themes you list, otherwise it will be considered spam. It does not matter if you are advocating the theme be changed or stay the way it is.

Please provide an explanation for each theme you list ... either why you like it or why you feel it should be changed.

BTW, if you know of a song out there that you think would fit a superstar better, feel free to post it on here. Obviously, it won't be a realistic choice as WWE won't use it, but still it would be nice to hear the type of music you have in mind that may work better for a certain talent.

Who's entrance music do you think needs to change in order to fit their character more or who's doesn't need to change and shouldn't change at all?



Change:

Kofi Kingston-his music is too cheerful, now i kno thats what the wwe is going for but, if they're serious about pushing him then he's needs some serious music

Batista-the song all together does fit batista's character, but everytime i hear it now i can't picture him getting booed because im used to it when he was face



Don't Change:

Undertaker-his music just strikes fear and just fits him and his character

Randy Orton-this theme definitely fits orton as he's becoming paranoid, like he is hearing voices when he's in the ring

Mark Henry im used to his music for him being a heel monster change it for something that needs to fit his face persona
Shelton Benjamin i believe he has been stopped lol seriously it dont seem fitting for him anymore

Randy Orton for the same reason you stated it fits him perfectly
Vince Mcmahon its just a great theme and i cant see vince with any other theme

John Cena-His time isn't now anymore, in 2005, yes, in 2009 after several Title runs and headlining every WM from 2005-2009, nope not anymore lol.

CM Punk-This is one of my favourite WWE themes by one of my favourite bands, but I think that its just to face-ish for a guy whose being groomed into a top heel. Maybes a cover version by a darker band, a remix or maybes a song by Hatebreed would be incredible. Something that brings out his persona and real-life beliefs.

I'm 50/50 on Batista's, again one of my favourite WWE themes by one of my favourite bands, I think that some parts bring out a face aspect whereas some are just the sort of neutral if not heel aspect. Remix, cover, or a new one, just with that heel version to it.

Kofi Kingston-His current theme is to cheery, and if they want him to be a character taken more seriously they need a new song for the guy. Maybes a slight attire change aswell, but thats for another thread.

Ones that shouldn't change:

Matt Hardy-Live For The Moment-Monster Magnet

Randy Orton-Voices-Rev Theory

Chris Jericho-Break The Walls Down-Adam Morenoff

There are more, but I'm keeping it short and sweet. These just fit their personas greatly, Matt Hardy with his never say die 'mattitude'. Orton with his vindictive, maniacal cunning gimmick, and Jericho's egotistical side rearing its head everytime he enters the ring.

WWE themes MAKE the wrestler. A theme should reflect the wrestler. Michaels, HHH, Taker, and Orton's themes reflect their character. Each theme SOUNDS DIFFERENTLY and is unique from one another.

Now you have CM Punk, "The Dudebusters" on ECW, you had the old Ryder and Hawkins, Swagger, and ESPECIALLY McIntyre's.....they all have that heavy metal sound. You know who's theme it is, but is it really set apart from one another?

I can agree with how Kofi's theme is too cheery for someone who needs a push, but whatever they may change it too, keep it that Jamacian pop sound....its unique, its different, and its fun to listen to.

Final words: Please dont give us every wrestler with the McIntyre/Bourne sound. How about something fun, something that can be iconic to listen to (Bret Hart's theme, Hogan, Taker)...all classics and you never get tired of hearing them

Change:

Kofi Kingston- It's too happy go lucky for his new, more intense, more hell bent type character. Plus no point in raggae, WWE dropped the fake Jamaican thing didn't they???

John Cena- He dropped the thug/rapper/white boy who wants to be black gimmick, a long time ago. And a theme change is long over due. He's more of a kiddy idol, so they should get like a pop-rock type band to make him a nice new, never give up type theme. Mariana's Trench? Boy's Like Girls? Fall Out Boy?

Don't Change:

Batista- This theme perfectly portrays his new character! A selfish, ego-maniacal, ass hole, who relies on himself and no one else. He simply walks alone.

Shawn Michaels- Heh, he's used the Sexy Boy theme song for almost 2 decades! He's established WAY too much to change it, wouldn't it feel weird too see HBK come out to a different theme that isn't Sexy Boy, the DX theme, or some other superstar he's teaming with or what ever? And it brings back memorys of HBK's older days.

I've always felt that WWE is dropping the ball with John Morrison's music...I mean his character is a Jim Morrison of the Doors persona, and it just seems like a no-brainer to have a "Doorsish" kind of song....like maybe have it open with the chimes from "the End" ( i realize it would have to be "in the vein of" and not actual Doors music) but start off with the slow chimes and maybe a sitar...y'know somethin' psychadelic...and then kick in with a harder faster Doorsish song ala L.A.Woman, but more modern and heavy...his current music just seems weak.

I also think Sheamus's music is just horrible...it just doesn't portray him at all

I also hve to agree HBK's theme should never change. Next to HHH's, HBK's overall entrance has been my favorite for years. His entrance is just so different, and it feels real. And while I know he's not "The Boy Toy" anymore, that song is classic.

On how's should change, I'm going to say Michelle McCool. It sounds to "face" for her. It really doesn't fit her character at all, and it sounds like something any other random diva could make their entrance to.

I would argue that Finlay should change his theme back to this theme, which he only used ONE TIME on television. This theme was by far his best Face theme that he ever used, and is far more appropriate as a Face, due to the uplifting nature of the theme, for him in this role.

But I agree 100% that Finlay should not have the same theme as the babyfied Hornswoggle. The two are no longer together and it makes Finlay sound childish.

I actually don't think anyone's really needs to be changed right now. I won't go so far as to say the WWE has nailed every current song, but I think so long as you can hear one note and know what wrestler is coming - as is the case 99.9 % of the time - then nothing really needs to be changed.

Not every wrestler is going to have an iconic theme song.

You know whose song I really like that shouldn't be change, though - outside of the ones mentioned - Maria's! Not sure why I like hers... does that make me gay?

I like most of the themes in the WWE, but here are a few thoughts.

Kofi - He has stated he's not jamacian so atleast change the song slightly to fit his character.

Legacy - Honestly it was better when their theme was priceless, I believed it cause they were better cause they were second and third generation stars.

The Miz - I hate the miz and I like that they repackaged his look, but give him some new music too to fit that.

I will tell you right now the one main thing I miss in pro wrestling was remember in the 80's and 90's where if you were a heel you didn't need entrance music? The heenan family (original heenan family) only Rick Rude had his own theme.

I think if there ever is a monster heel again they should just come out like Andre no music and just dominate.

The Big Show is another person's theme who comes to mind that MUST be changed. That is truly one of the most horrendous theme songs in the entire WWE.

Big Show should have a badass theme song. Not a slow theme that basically sounds like he is some truck driver.

Big Show actually had a kickass theme song when he debuted, which he only used for about a month. Those with good memories for details like this may remember this theme, which was the St. Valentine's Day Massacre theme. This was Big Show's first theme, which in my view would be far more appropriate to be used today-- which could also be used to give his character a renewed push.

All WWE needs to do is to edit out the "Will you be my Valentine" lyrics, and the music itself is absolutely perfect for The Big Show.

Shawn Michaels should also change his theme back to his original version of "Sexy Boy" which was sung by Sensational Sherri. He left in her voice for the "Sexy Boy" echo in the song, but that isn't enough. Sherri's version was far superior in every way to Shawn's version. They did some nice sound sweetening for hers but it still turned out better.

And plus it would be a great tribute to her to this day if he used it.

Christian needs to go back to his theme by waterproof blonde. I know it is the same song but the story of the year version is pretty lame. plus with his current version it seems as if he should explode from the back but he doesnt.

Edge is one person who i hope keeps the same music when he returns. It has a good sound to it and edge always has intensity when he comes to the ring

i would most definitely change Carlito's Theme song... it's been the same since always! i would like to see him come out with maybe something like the Mars Volta i think it would fit him well anyone who has heard them know they have a lot of latin influences plus he'll have something in common with the members (the afro).

although i hate him i wouldn't change the undertaker's cuz' is a classic

Shelton Benjamin - His theme sounds horrible. It sounds generic and boring.. kinda like his gimmick and that indeed is a shame. This is a guy who could easily be their next Kurt Angle but he needs a little help getting some fan support. A new theme to go with his fresh start in ECW would be step in the right direction.

Tyler Reks - wow..just wow. No way in heck I'd go to the ring with that music blaring through the speakers. I'm guessing he spoke up and that's why we haven't seen much of him. I'll never be able to take him seriously with that song playing, it screams warning jobber en route to ring.

Cena - Needs new music because he's no longer a rrrrrrrrrapper dude. Won't fix his other flaws but at least I won't groan when his rap music starts and this marine dude comes out to salute the crowd..

Don't change

Edge - This epic theme has a bit of everything going for it. It just sounds like the person about to come out from the back is championship material.. and he is.

Zack Ryder - Fits him perfectly, he just looks like it'd actually be on his Ipod. Clap it up bro! woo x 3

William Regal - This theme fits his persona so well it's scary. It sounds like someone who doesn't care if he hurts you or not is coming to the ring. Someone who is better than you. It says Regal is coming.

Change

Kane - I think the song from Finger 11 "Slow Chemical" that he had for a long time before going to the updated music he has now was very telling of his character. It is a long song and I think very underrated since most entrances end pretty quickly after they enter the ring and after the match ends. I remember the Ambulance Match at a Survivor Series. It played the whole time they were tending to Shane McMahon even after Kane had already left. It brought a sense of 'the damage is done' to the match. I vote to change his music, he still wins too much not to.

Drew McIntyre- Yeah I know, he hasn't been here long enough to craft a theme to him that fits. But this is guy that Vince handpicked. I expect he'll get a new soon anyway. I love his character, charisma, and determination and his music should reflect as much. Lose the generic guitar riff. Bob Holly's sounded more original that this.

Honorable Mention
Beth Pheonix- The music that plays now is unfortunately synonymous with her. But this is one female performer I think very highly of. She is so talented and I think she needs an updated track as well.

Here are the 3 I would change:

Cena-He is no longer rapping and should do something that represents him better today (to coincide with his statement of never losing until he regains the WWE Title)

Melina-Her theme song worked when she was apart of MNM, but doesnt really work for her anymore

Kane-I liked "Slow Chemical" for him, works well with his image

The 3 I would not change:

HHH-He has used it for too long and fits his character good (unless you put the King of Kings in there too when hes champion)

HBK-same goes with him as did HHH, only change I would do is revert to the Sherri version (if i were to change it)

Taker-same here, where hes doing the phenom character, the theme song he uses now works great for him...i like it better when the druids came out having the hymns with it better though.

Kane- I agree with the two before me... Slow Chemical just worked so well. Plus, I get tired of having to change it myself.

DX- I would change to the rap version.

This isn't so much as change but to give a new superstar who comes into the business, Blacken the Cursed Sun by Lamb of God, it's just the start if it and the whole "vibe" it gives off, listen to it and just imagine someone coming out to it. I wanted to put it onto SvR2010 but i haven't gotten around to it.

Oh and just on Jackie Williams, WTF? why would u change edges music, it is synonymous with edge, when i think edge i automatically think of that song.

And DX, are u insane, DX kept their music because that's what everybody knows, not some bloody rap music, that would be a horrible decision

Dear God. I don't know if that is a true original, or if they just completely stole it from a Japanese cartoon show. It sounds like shit and I wonder how Yoshi feels coming out to this garbage...and people are supposed to take him as a serious wrestler.

Change Finlays definitely. he's still using the hornswoggle theme. and considering they aren't even on the same show anymore. i think he should go back or have a new irish song.

And i think CM Punk's theme is good for him. its heavy and I've thought for a while that this song would suit him better as a heel character.

The main two that stick out who should be changed are Finlay and Khali. They both should have stuck to their previous themes. Finlay has no reason to keep the Hornswoggle song now that Hornswoggle is on a different show. He should go back to his previous one which fit him better. Khali's new one is too strange and makes no sense. He should go back to his old one because it was cool and could still work even if he is a face.

As for who's shouldn't change.... I would at first say pretty much anyone else, but if I must get specific and pick someone then I'll say Orton. He shouldn't change because Voices is the best entrance theme he has had and I like it better than all his old ones, even though most of those were good too.

Finlay- sounds like a Lucky Charms commercial

Don't Change:
HBK- It's too iconic. Takes me back to my childhood
Maryse- Sounds really cool. The lyrics seem kind of edgy for the PG. It's in French, so it fits her.
Kozlov- Sounds very evil and soviet communisty.
