Who Here Likes John Cena?

WWEIsLife

Occasional Pre-Show
I think we can all agree that John Cena is the Face of the WWE and the most popular. He is probably the hardest working guy in the Buisness today and does whatever Vince asks him to do. My question is who on this Forum likes John Cena? I do like Cena and I think he does his best to put on a Good Show for everyone in whatever City they are.

He's just about good enough, but like Jericho said on his debut, we're being lead to believe that mediocrity is excellence.

John Cena yes is a good wrestler, a good roll model for kids , and kids LOVE the guy.., but anyone whose age is above 12, including myself that continues to watch wwe thinks rightfully so that JOHN CENA RUINED WRESTLING. RUINED IT! I started watching in 2003 where the wwe to me was in its prime, that and the attitude era/ raw is war. Why couldnt he be happy w/ word life? I mean i was freakin stoked when he wone the wwe title at WM 21, but scince then the title kind of consumed him. Also lets face it, THE GUY NEVER LOOSES, which completley pisses me off. So in short... good for the company? yes Good for publicity? yes Good for old fashioned wrestling fans? not at all, and he is loosening the tie i have with wrestling HE MADE WWE PG?! im sorry cuz he is a nice guy , but YOU FREAKING JACKASS!

When I tell people I hate Cena I get called loads of these names that get bandied around internet forums, so I don't usually participate in wrestling forums, but here goes.

I appreciate Cena's hard working ethic, I see the number of wishes, promotional gigs, talk shows and things and I'm glad he is using his life as a privelaged guy to better other people, however that is not the John Cena of WWE, so I don't judge him like that.

I boo'ed Cena at the WWE event I saw him at - and Why? I don't like his Gimmick, no other reason, that's how I watch wrestling, screw ability (aside the truly sensational) and everything, if I like you in that moment I'll cheer, if not, I'll boo, I couldn't care less about politics, brown nosing, championships, reputations or anything. I don't need to be told I'm a certain type of fan because of who I like/dislike, I've always liked certain wrestlers since I was young and I didn't move on, Edge has always remained a personal favorite, same with the Rock, more recently I've added CM Punk and JoMo to that mix, when I'm asked who I like theres this impression that I have to prove something, that I have to talk about all sorts of bullshit that I don't even care about, if I want to Boo Cena, I'll boo my lungs out, I don't do it to be cool, or to smugly smile like I'm better than the little kids who love him (I'm just the same when my favorites come out), Cena the WWE Superstar who is on RAW is by no means the guy I hate more than anything in WWE (That would be given to Randy Orton), but I don't particularly like him, he's one of my more disliked wrestlers.

John Cena the person or John Cena the wrestler? Because I can't really speak on John Cena the person. He seems nice enough in most of his interviews and I'm sure he's great at PR for the company.

John Cena the wrestler bores me to tears and I can't fathom what people have seen in him since his initial face turn back in 2003. He might be the hardest working guy in the business when it comes to promoting the company but he is NOT the hardest working guy in the ring. Basically wrestling the same match over and over again Hogan-style where you get your ass kicked until you "Cena up" and hit your few moves is not working hard. I can't believe how many Cena matches have been overrated. That hour long Cena/HBK match on RAW a couple years ago put me to sleep!

It's easy to hate a guy who gets pushed to the moon and never seems to lose. I see all these other great wrestlers who are starting to connect with the fans only for Cena to crush them. It also doesn't help that his first few feuds after winning the title for the first time were against Christian, Jericho, Angle and HBK who are all capable of wrestling circles around Johnny boy.

I don't even buy the line that Cena is the most popular guy in the company. He's one of the most popular guys but he's also one of the most hated guys. That shows how faulty his character truly is. Randy friggin' Orton routinely gets bigger pops than Cena. I'm not a fan but Jeff Hardy is even more over than Cena right now.

Others have already said it. Cena is mediocre. He's not a horrible wrestler despite what I've said. He's not the most boring character in the world. But he's also far from a great wrestler or a truly entertaining character. He was a fairly decent worker busting his ass off to get noticed until Vince decided to push him to the moon so he got lazy. Cena is much more hype machine than he is substance and unless he evolves in some way fans will turn on him like they did Hogan in the early 90s.

I see Cena/Edge like I used to see Hogan/Flair. Hogan and Cena get all the fan love but Flair and Edge were the better wrestlers that truly carried companies on their shoulders.

Cena's great from a sports entertainment perspective but from a wrestling perspective he's passable at best.

I liked him in his debut...b----slappping Angle was big.

When he did the Marky Mark Halloween Smackdown...classic.

He turned it into a gimmick and after I read how WWE approved it I was like "yeah, they let someone take an aspect of themselves and turn it up to 11...nice!"

As a heel it worked well because it was the whole "trying to be something he's not" angle in it (story purposes, I know he loves the culture). When the ref busted out the beatbox in the Spanky battle I lost it!

He did a "battle rap" on Heat going to a Baltimore PPV and while I loved what he spit, I knew I would have to turn on him soon. I have a natural affinity to heels and I saw him slipping away.

All this time I had no problem with his wrestling ability. It fitted when he bragged about being the best and didn't have the moveset.

By the time he went face I was done, because Vince was going to push him too soon to the top. And it happened.

I have come to accept him now for what he does for the company, he sells merch, kids love him, and he'll do anything for VKM. He gained points for going to ECE ONS as the most hated person in wrestling and pulled it off. When that t-shirt came back into the ring he could've easily handed it to a ring attendant, but he knew that if he tossed it back to the crowd...it'll come back in, he wasn't fazed.

But he started earning my respect when he was speaking out against Rock a year plus back because he didn't show up for Raw's Anniversary.

That and the hatchet job CNN did with his interview and I learned to let up on the guy. I can't blame him only for what I dislike about the product nowadays. Hell, I've come to terms with the fact that it's not HIS fault that this is the direction his boss wants to go.

He's my age, and this is what I wanted to do my whole life. But I never made an effort, my laziness/apathy came first. And while I know dispite my delusions of grandeur, I would've been a colossal failure at it. I'm glad to see someone my age stick with it. I have plenty of friends who tried and failed at this, so I have a (vague) idea of how hard it is just on the indy level.

He's dong what he loves at the top of his game. Vince could easily let him add to his moveset, but he doesn't. The STF-U-minustheU was only added to win a submission match against Angle, but by making Masters tap. I thought it was a great d--k move by Vince to say "Screw you!" to the "You Can't Wrestle!" crowd.

how can people not be impressed by this guy. Cena gives his life to us fans and the wwe. people need to wake up and get a life. this guy is not the best wrestler so what get over it and shut your dam mouths. he try's his best and that is good for me. yes he is stale but i blame the writters for that. Black Snow you are an idiot if you watched the match you would know it was better then there wrestle mania match at WM23. it was also up for match of the year. you don't know what real wrestling is if you think that match sucked. Cena is the top guy now if you hate it don't watch wwe anymore. i could care less what you have to say if you say the top guy sucks when he actually is what makes 60% of their profits.

I don't like Cena, he's annoying, from this stupid entrance to his stupid finishing moves. He does have a huge draw from little kids and hispanic women (trust me, I work in a hotel) but he is over hyped. He's this generations Rock and he just doesn't fit the bill.

I never used to, I always thought he seemed like a good guy and I loved his passion for the business but I just didn't care for his character, it just didn't appeal to me for whatever reason but he has really grown on me since he made his return at RR08. Along with Jericho he's probably my favorite guy on the roster currently.

I used to be a fan. I loved him when he was a heel. It fit his character, and the heel tactics and character traits that he could portray within a match made up for his wrestling shortcomings and helped him tell a more compelling story. I even liked him in his US title runs, feuding with Booker T specifically. He may be able to draw for a main event, I just dont think he's a good enough wrestler for it, and this is where my hatred for him comes in. I also cant stand, and this is more on WWE than it is on Cena, seeing the same guy winning the title every WM/Year (hes got 5 in a row where he's in the world title match...I dont even know what year it is anymore sometimes...) His promos are okay...kinda stale. As far as he the person goes, he seems like a good guy and I cant knock him, Ive just come to hate him as a wrestler. Im sick of him and his character. They had a chance a few years ago after RVD took the title off of him that I wouldve given theman another chance if they turned him heel, but he's too good with the kids and too over with them to ever go back to the dark side.

So Ill continue to hate the guy and his work. His matches seem to get worse with time, cause he never seems to do anything special.

I like him. Maybe it's because I can't watch RAW so he hasn't been 'shoved down my throat'.

Yeah he's awesome. Just read the Official Cena thread to find out more about what I think about John Cena. Because there's no fucking way I'm typing all that out again.

I just realized something...if he runs with this good guy thing for(ever). His next heel turn can really be Hollywood Hogan-ish.

The 5-10 year olds now would be 10-15 year old 'rebellious' kids...they'd roll with it.
The little kids just latvhingon would be crying in the stands.
And for those who've hated him all along, will at least wonder how Vince'll screw this up.

This is all assuming if he stayed active for that long.
