Who deserves to be the next WWE Champion?

It simply should be either Bryan or Ziggler. Bryan was well on his way to being a huge star after Mania last year. Unfortunately the WWE prevented him from getting as big as he could've. The fans are still into Bryan. WWE needs to get him away from Kane so he can truly shine.

I have no idea why Ziggler hasn't been elevated yet. The fans are clearly into him. The WWE has an annoying little habit of not striking when the iron is hot. Ziggler and Bryan are real stars, not guys like Ryback

I agree about Ziggler and I think he's going to get the World title, possibly by cashing in MITB at WM.

The interesting thing about Ziggler is that I think WWE backed themselves into a corner by giving him the MITB briefcase. They've gotten the fans behind him and started to get him over and he's right on the cusp of being over right now. SO, when he finally cashes in MITB, it's going to be cheap. Sure he's a heel but I feel like Zigger has been built up enough now that is a believable main eventer that doesn't need the MITB case to win the belt. When he cashes it in and wins, it's going to feel like a shortcut. MITB is for guys that need an instant push. Zigger's push has been slow building and to have him cash it in now, is dumb IMO. He should already be in a world title main event, without the case.

Somebody mentioned Barrett earlier who is somebody I agree needs to get a major push. He was in the middle of a GREAT feud with Orton before he got hurt. There was no doubt in my mind that Barrett would have won at mania and been at main event level.

People make belts, belts do not make people. Barrett getting a "push" by way of getting a belt will only set him up for a fail when he degrades the position and everybody starts bitching about him falling on his ass.

I think you guys are missing the point. Of course any combination of Rock, Cena, and Punk is going to make the most money between now and 'mania, but what does that leave for everything after april? The idea isn't that I hate the Rock or Cena, it's that whoever beats punk will instantly be an elite guy in the WWE. Who should be the next top superstar?
.....................

I suppose I never answered my own question. For me I think the ideal guy would be Daniel Bryan because he is already very over, has already been a main eventor, and is entertaining enough in and out of the ring that I would be happy seeing him for years to come. I would also like to see Ziggler do it but with the MITB briefcase and a solid storyline he already has a path to the top. I just don't think he needs it. Then again, It is a fantasy for me that he would win the rumble and then unify the belts at 'Mania.

but if you are talking about whos next to shoo tup and skyrocket then bryan is out by default. hes already hit that level, and it wont be hard for him to reach it again IMO. as far as who has the most to gain from knocking off punk... hmm. honestly just thinking about who can get over the best after winning that belt, and who would be a great underdog against punk, id say Sandow. we all know his mic work is great now that hes changed from Idol Stevens, and i think Sandow as champ would be epic. there would be so much heat when that man walked to the ring with the belt.

If you're talking at this very moment in time who deserves to be the next WWE champion...the answer is no one.

Currently CM Punk is on another level than everyone else not just in the WWE but in the whole business of pro wrestling as a whole. Now I might have sung a different tune if Jericho, Triple H, Edge or even Batista was still around on a full time basis, there would be more talent, scratch that, more big name talent that could be considered to be champion.

Rock is there part time, you want to sell more Wrestlemania buys then give him the title show up on all the talk shows like Justin LaBar has said in the past. Cena, he's won his share of titles and has proven he doesn't need the title to be over. Ryback, the momentum just hasn't quite taken off like the WWE had hoped for I think he needs a run as Intercontental Champion or US Champion before getting the WWE title. Daniel Bryan needs to reestablish himself as a singles star right now he's a tag team champion, very over with the crowd but needs to break away from Kane to be taken seriously again and then he could get a run. Kane, same as Bryan but if he were to win a title it would be more of a transition from Punk to someone else, like a Bryan or even to someone new.

Then comes Dolph Ziggler, I still think he should have a run with the World Heavyweight title before the WWE title but if he were to have a run with the WWE title I wouldn't hate that thought. That run would have to take place in the summer when Vince usually likes to give his trial runs to guys.

Bringing it full circle, no one else currently has the steam and momentum that CM Punk has. He's the self proclaimed "Best in the World" and has been proving it week in and week out. Was out with injury still on TV with the mic in his hand and gave more interesting TV than the past 5 Ryback matches. Punk has reinvented himself over the coarse of his whole title run which is a very rare thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. The run in my mind if it is to end should be around 500+ days and will end to one of the guys named I just don't think any of them DESERVE it.

I'm going to say Ryback. People bash him for a lot of reasons, including it is to soon, he is just another one of Vince's bodybuilding puppets, or he is to green, yadda yadda yadda.

Rewind back to Raw on Jan 7th and the TLC match. Fans were screaming, cheering, and above all wanting a title change, as Ryback scaled the ladder before the lights went out. Granted we can;t base a WWE Champion on the crowds reaction, but there is no other Full-Timer who is getting this kind of reaction at the moment.

Ryback is going to draw big in my opinion. It doesn't matter if he is crap on the Mic, or uses 3 moves, looks like a superhero, whatever,, He brings an intensity to the ring every week

I say let Punk finish his fued with Rock, which is ending probably before Mania, Give Cena his moment against Rock at WM for the WWE Championship if need be. Insert Ryback into the title scene heading to Summerslam. His Shield Fued should be over by then.

The way John Cena is saying, this is gonna be a great year for him tells me he will probably win his match at Wrestlemania (he has lost the last 2 to Miz and Rock) I think the title changes could go like this :

Punk > Rock > Cena > Ryback for 2013.

I think the WWE Title scene is brilliant at the moment and WWE have done a good job in making that title very legitimate as of now.

Buffalo Dave has a great idea about Dolph Ziggler winning the Royal Rumble, and soon he can cash his MITB briefcase, and when no one expect it, he can challenge CM Punk for the WWE title at Wrestlemania to unify the titles, but i doubdt that the WWE will do something like that, with that being said, i don't want the Rock to win it either, like an earlier poster said, it will make the rest of the roster look weak by having someone from 10 years ago winning the title, if thet's the case, then i much rather see Triple H or the Undertaker win it, and i agree with a few earlier posters as well, i would rather see Kane win the strap instead of the Rock, but as for who deserves it, that is a good question, is just that most of the posters here make exellent points, there are superstars who deserve it based on their hard work, like Dolph Ziggler, or Kofi Kingston, but people are not sure if they are ready for main event status due to lack of mic work, and for someone to be a main event player he has to be a total package on the ring and on the mic considering that those are the people carrying the company, so the only ones other than Cena that i see deserving the title, i mean, Cena deserves it for busting his butt, but like a lot of people said, he doesn't need it, and these guys can definitly bennefit from it are Sheamus ( ok, he has had it a couple of times, but he's not at Cena's level just yet ) and Daniel Bryan ( he's a former WHC ), but he can use the WWE title to elevate his career, other than these two guys, except probably the Miz, i just don't see many people as WWE championship material......

Here's the hierarchy I'd set up. First people who are semi-active and over:

HHH
Undertaker
Rock
Lesnar

People who are active and over:

Cena
Orton
Punk

People who are active and almost over:

Bryan
Shamus

Longtime workhorses who could be transitional champs:

Big Show
Henry (when back)
Kane

People who are active and wouldn't be bad as traditional champions:

Ziggler
Del Rio
Miz
Barrett

In order for people to buy into Ryback as Champion, he needs to IMO learn some new moves, a Champion who only does 2 moves isn't good IMO/

Then again, we've had CM Punk as Champion for over a year, and he only does about 3 moves including the GTS.

I'd like to see Jerry Lawler win the belt.

Imagine if he were to win the Rumble: come back from death to win the belt at Wrestlemania? I'd mark.

Oh my god, shut the fuck up... Hulk Hogan had a body slam, leg drop, and a big boot... and he held the title for 4 fucking years and he had what's considered a classic match with Ultimate Warrior who also had a limited moveset. The Rock does a spinebuster, people's elbow, and rock bottom... even he got the WWE title. Can that bullshit about the amount of moves people do. Especially when they're completely wrong. Goldberg had a limited moveset and he was WCW's biggest star bar none.

As for who I think should be the next WWE Champion, I would think that if they're not going with Ryback then Rey Mysterio would be a great choice. I'd say give it to Mysterio at Extreme Rules so that way Ziggler can enter into a feud with Mysterio. Yes, that would mean Ziggler would either be (or have been) WHC already or lose the MITB briefcase. I also think that with Big E as his body guard and AJ around, Ziggler and Rey could put on some great matches together... much how they did when Rey was IC Champion in Ziggler's early days.

If not either of those two, then I would go with Sheamus. Sheamus is often considered to be lost in the shuffle, but after the showing he and Big Show put on, I could easily see him and Punk putting on some good matches with Sheamus eventually winning.

And if not him, then the last person I could think of that would make sense (again not choosing a rehash) would have to be Christian. It's not a secret to people here that I'm not a Christian fan... but I'm not shallow enough to refuse to give Christian some props. He's able to excite a crowd and WWE could also capitalize some more off of Edge's career. It sounds sad, but sometimes it works. Mysterio's first reign was to sell more EG merchandise, and it worked for his overall career.

Deserves to be? I'm going to say Christian. I've always thought that Christian was good enough in the ring, and he's excellent on the mic. Paired with the right feuds, I think he could do really well. After that I'd probably pick Daniel Bryan, just because we know how good he can be.

Who will get the title? Well, I think it's a forgone conclusion that The Rock beats punk at RR. So he'll have it. Other than that, I think it will probably be Dolph. Someone else mentioned it earlier, I thought it would be interesting to see Rock beat Punk and then have Dolph cash it in on The Rock. There are easy way to explain that.

Ryback They could have created a star with him and are simply dropping the ball then they will accuse him of not getting over
