Who Deserves A Post-Wrestlemania Push?

PlayTheGame

In a few months, the WWE calendar year will culminate like it does every year at Wrestlemania. For now, not much main event shuffling will occur, as the stars are all but set for the Wrestlemania lineup, with the actual matchups still being worked out. Guys like Sheamus and Daniel Bryan have received huge pushes over the course of the year, resulting in their main event statuses at Wrestlemania.

So my question is, when the "new year" beings after 'Mania, who do you think deserves a push to the main event scene of 2012-2013?

Here's my choice:

Kofi Kingston. Not because I'm a huge fan of him or anything, but I really cannot see who else really deserves a main event push over him. I mean, if guys like Ziggler are getting title shots and reigns, then really, why not Kofi? It's no secret that the WWE is sorely lacking African-American talent in the main event scene. The WWE is a business, and to have a capable African-American in the main event scene is good business- they'd simply be appealing to a more diverse crowd, resulting in more merchandise sales and all that other good stuff. And he really wouldn't even have to alter his character too much due to the PG era. A fun-loving, always smiling character such as Kofi probably wouldn't have approached the main event several years ago, but now due to the PG era, characters such as his are more acceptable in the WWE as top guys. And don't say his size or move-set are an issue considering who the the current world champions are. And finally, as I was saying before, who really deserves a push over him? I can't think of any other midcarders I'd rather see in the main event.

That's my pick. Who's your pick?

Jack Swagger - The guy is the current United States Champion, yet they're treating him like a non-entity. Really, Whassupwitdat, and Are You Serious Bro?

Zack Ryder - I'm hoping that the constant Kane attacks lead to Ryder vs. Kane at WM. I'm also praying for Ryder to be de-*****fied, and possibly for Cena to step down and become a regular tag team partner to Ryder.

Alex Riley - The guy has improved immensely in the ring, and managed to stay over despite not appearing on TV. For that alone, he deserves a push. Perhaps he and Miz could reunite as a face team.

Ted DiBiase - I think Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase should have a relationship similar to HHH and Shawn Michaels, having on and off feuds, and teaming up whenever they're on the same alignment. I think Ted should be the one that finally takes the IC Title from Rhodes.

Simple Dolph Ziggler should and will become WWE champion. His new status as the show off is brilliant, let him add some1 to the group him and swagger and vicky have created and give them a name, an evolution type stable. People helping him constantly retain the title but at the same time beating mid-carders clean to prove he is the best. A mix off mr perfect, ric flair and triple h in their primes. This guy in my eyes is the next big heel like triple h in his prime...People may say hes already being pushed but him and punk need to have a triple h austin style fued.
Gotta love the show off!!!

Wade Barrett. You could say he's already there since he's feuding with Orton but overall 2011 was very disappointing for Barrett after bursting on the scene in 2010. To me Barrett has the look of a champion. He has natural confidence which is a huge part of that magical "it factor." He may not go over Orton and he may not have mania glory this year, but I believe Wade Barrett will be world champion by SummerSlam.

Someone else I can see getting pushed is Drew McIntyre. You can all laugh and that's fine. I'm not saying he's going to the main event but he will be pushed to a better spot than he's in now. I think this whole losing streak angle is making Drew a sympathetic figure and a face turn is on the horizon. WWE obviously felt strong about this guy at one time and it has been a while now since he and his wife got in whatever trouble they got in. Maybe this is a Triple H type "punishment" circa 1996 and Drew has now paid his dues. Again I'm not saying main event, but look for big improvements from Drew.

I agree with the names that been said so far although most may not agree with me I think William Regal should get a push some where down the line. He has paid his dues and I think he still has the talent. So he may not draw like others but that also can be proof that most WWE fans are stupid little brats who don't know what real wrestler is. If Mark Henry can get a run with the title then why can't William Regal. Daniel Bryan vs William Regal in a submission match would be a great match.

There are a few but my main pick is Barrett, he's flawless on the Mic, decent in the ring. Good look and he's a little different, mainly due to him being English. Everything scream about him screams main event.

Jack Swagger but as a face, he's long past his heel persona, he's too nice a guy to be kept heel.

Dolph great in ring, improving every week on the mic.

I feel they need to drop some guys out of the title challenges like Big Show.

CM Punk, do doubt. Although he is already the WWE Champion, he is being given matches in the mid slot of the show at 10:00. HE IS THE WWE CHAMPION! Give him the opportunities Cena had, if given the tools, he can be the top guy in the WWE!

Ziggy Ziggler easily. From the way he presents himself to his ring work is great and only getting better. I see Zig as champ by Summer Slam, possibly winning MITB @ Mania.

I can't disagree with anyone here when it comes to Ziggler and Barrett.

For Ziggler there's just something about him and his persona that can make him a main eventer, IF the writers help him along. I don't necessarily think he can develop himself and the arrogant factor has to go real quick for him to be successful. He hasn't accomplished enough in the eyes of "mainstream" WWE fans to deserve to be that way and it only gets him partial reaction from the crowd. He needs to be a face, badly. Only then will we see a true push. He can turn back heel after that, but I think his road is with him being a face, not a heel....

Barrett, He's perfect just as he is and as others have mentioned has that "it" factor already. Why they won't let him get a bigger push already is beyond me. I think losing to Orton tonight was a bit of a step back if they don't follow it up with him eliminating Randy at the Elimination Chamber match. A loss there to Orton especially could push him back even further and definitely not what is needed. So much potential with Wade, I just hope the WWE doesn't choose to let it go to waste as they are notoriously known for these days.

I've heard the names of Ziggler, Barrett, and even Punk. These guys are already being pushed. Guys like Kofi and Drew McIntyre. My choice is Justin Gabriel. I am a Gabriel mark and I'm not afraid to say that he is the WWE's answer to AJ Styles. The high flying and the versatility on the mat makes him a real threat.

Wade Barret will definately be a World Champion some time after Mania. That's just a fact. He has all the tools to be a great main event heel, with the exception of his new music which sucks. The exact same thing can be said for Dolph Ziggler. He is the best thing in the WWE right now. He deserves to be main eventing Raw every week.

As far as people who hve not really been pushed yet, but will recieve major ones after Mania are concerned, I think Ryback (Skip Sheffield) and Maon Ryan are the two big ones. Ryan will definately recieve one. If creative wants to make him into something big, then they need to pull the trigger on him sooner rather than later. The longer he stays on the lower midcard, the more likely he is to get stuck there permenately until he finally gets released like Chris Masters.

I just hope Ryback gets a push. I was a huge fan of Skip when he was a part of the Nexus. e has some great intensity and really seemed like the physical leader of the group. Wade was the brains, but Skip was the muscle that actually got things done. I just hope the Ryback character isnt too gimmicky like poor poor Brodus Clay, who I can easily see getting the US Championship, but thats as far as he can ever get with his character.

Wade Barrett-He will be World Heavyweight Champion after Wrestlemania,no doubt at all,the question is when he will get the title

Dolph Ziggler-If he doesn't win the WWE Championship in 2012 he should quit,in the words of JR,nuff said

Cody Rhode-I see him becoming World Heavyweight Champion around Over The Limit or Fatal Four Way & having a great 2 month run with it

R-Truth-This new face gimmick he has is working out exceptionally great for him & I can see him as World Heavyweight Champion or WWE Champion this year

Mason Ryan-I see him becoming United States Champion after Wrestlemania,he'll probably beat Swagger for it a couple Raw's after 'Mania so he can start his push

Justin Gabriel-Have him take the Intercontinental Championship from Rhodes the Smackdown after Wrestlemania 28 so Rhodes can move on to the WHC picture & Gabriel can get that push that he deserves also. He should have his run with the title until Over The Limit or TLC

Drew McIntyre- After Gabriel has his run with the IC Title,McIntyre should be the one to take from him so he can get back on track & get a re-push

Cody Rhodes, R truth, and Wade Barrett

Rhodes need that push to start really being the heel on smack down Wm will give that to him and a feud with Justin Gabriel will hear help both superstars in different ways. R truth is there now he needs to win titles now. Wade Barett is going to win WHC title this year for sure

Well Rhodes and Barrett DESERVE to get a world title before anyone else right now. Also even if he is gone soon I think Chris Jericho deserves one last run as WWE champion in 2012.

Guys that could prosper with a bigger push in 2012:

Jack Swagger: SOO HAPPY he is U.S champ!!! he deserves a MUCH better world champ reign. He would make one hell of a WWE champion.

Drew McIntyre: This is the only guy I don't see missing factors(mic skills, ring ability, charisma, etc.) that I don't get why he isn't bigger. Don't get me wrong he can work on all those things somewhat, but he has more than enough tools and is missing no vital assests. He is worth WWE's time and effort.

Zack Ryder: I know he is still big but his U.S. title match was pathetic. He is still green in the ring but with some work could be a GREAT I.C. champ!

Alex Riley: Easily the next best choice for the U.S. champ!!

Kofi Kingston: I never thought of him as a world champion and with so many young talent in line I don't know if it will happen but w/his split from Air Boom I could see a draft to SD and a short world title reign as a possibility.

R-Truth: Same thing as Kofi. Never even considered his as World champ worthy but I could see a short reign in his future.

Hunico/Sin Cara: they were both big for awhile but dropped off. I like them both and could see them both striking gold for the first time in WWE in 2012. Maybe Hunico(U.S. champ) vs. Sin Cara(I.C. champ) at bragging rights???

I agree with PlaytheGame, Kofi Kingston in my eyes is a quality talent I mean i know this isn't wrestling but that handstand at the rumble was amazing! everyone was off their feet. In the ring from what I have seen he is excellent and seems to have crazy new moves every week.

Wade is another for me and I can see him being the champion in the next few months post mania

I'd like to see Cody Rhodes ge a bigger push after 'Mania. Even though he's getting a decent push going over Booker T not too long ago I can vision him in a bigger picture with a World title at his side. He'll need to drop the Intercontinental Championship first. either before, at, or immediately after Wrestlemania & WWE can do to Rhodes Jr. what they're doing for Ziggler. Movin' on up for Mid to Upper Card.

Another is Wade Barrett. He's increasigly establishing himself feuding with Randy Orton (Another Big Name in WWE) & is gaining more popularity. I believe like Cody he'll have his time as World Champ some time after & not too far off from 'Mania as well.

Just my Dime's worth of predictions...

Two things:

1. Isn't Kofi from Ghana? Doesn't that make him an African and not an African-American?
Glad I could get that out.

2. Wade Barrett is the only mid-carder that should make an impact in the main event scene in the near future after WM. There are enough main event guys that can carry the load for a little while longer. Barrett is the only guy that has the qualities to make it as a main event heel (ruthlessness, ability, size, presence and mic skills) now.
