Where does he rank?

Brett Favre ended his regular season starts streak last night at 297. Most speculate that he will be placed on IR soon and will actually retire now that his streak is over. So, since it appears that he really will be retiring, the question needs to be asked:

Where does Brett Favre rank in terms of best quarterbacks of all time?

I've heard some say top 3, some say top 5, and some not even top 10. I can see the reasoning for all 3.

The statline is quite an impressive list. Obviously, the streak. 3 MVPs. For the 19 seasons he's played, only 2 (in 05 and this year) will he not have at least 8 wins. A Super Bowl win. 11 time Pro Bowler, most passing yards, completions, TD's, and INT's ever. 3 First team All-Pros. 181-104 career record.

I'll let everyone know where I think Brett Favre ranks after I hear what I few others have to say on the matter.

Even though their careers aren't over, when it's all said and done I will have Peyton Manning and Tom Brady ahead of Favre. I also currently have Joe Montana still ranked ahead of him and even though it's hard to compare the different eras of quarterbacks, I'm going to say Johnny Unitas is slightly ahead of him as well. It's hard to compare the stats of qb's from the 50's and 60's to qb's from the current and other recent eras because of how different the game is but Johnny U gets the edge.

With that said I have Brett Favre at number 5 just ahead of Elway and Marino. Then Steve Young, Warren Moon, and probably Fran Tarkenton would round out my top 10.

Favre has the stats and the records, yes that includes the interception record but with his style of play it comes with the territory. He also has the awards including the most important one, that being a Super Bowl ring. The streak is really what made me put him just ahead of Elway and Marino on the list. It was nothing short of remarkable and really shows Favre's toughness.

My official top ten list:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Joe Montana
4. Johnny Unitas
5. Brett Favre
6. John Elway
7. Dan Marino
8. Steve Young
9. Warren Moon
10. Fran Tarkenton

I'd say number 5 or so....

1. Brady/Manning
3. Montana
4. Elway
5. Favre

To me Super Bowls are a strong stat when determining the rank of great QBs. Thats why I place Favre behind most of these guys....

He makes top 5 but at number 5 for me. Brady is my number 1 QB, with all the titles and things he was/is able to do with what seems like a different cast each year is nothing short of remarkable. His postseason record as well can't be denied. I have Manning and Montana ahead of Farve. Farve's streak and records he has, along with with Super Bowl title put him top 5 conversation automatically, but the 3 I mentioned, along with Unitas were just better. Number 5 is where Farve ranks for me.

he is def a top 5 qb in my book...i wouldnt have him top two...its funny cause people have the same arguement with Manning/Brady as they do now for Farve/Montana...i think when all are said and done this will be the top 5 list...

1. Rex Grossman
2. Cade McNown
3. JaMarcuss Russel
4. Ryan Leaf
5. Joey Harrington

Ok just bsing...here it actually is

1. Peyton Manninng (i have argued my whole life Brady is better, but i do see manning winning one maybe two more titles plus with his stats that alone would just surpass Brady)
2. Tom Brady
3. Joe Montana
4. Brett Farve
5. John Elway

I'm not that big on putting active guys ahead of retired guys on any list so when Brady and Manning retire, they will be put in their proper place.

When Favre retires, I would rank him behind Unitas, Graham, Montana, Elway, and slightly behind Marino so Brett would be 6th on my list for now. I don't even think his iron man streak is the greatest in football, it's still impressive nonetheless. Favre lived by his arm and died by his arm many times and he could have won more championship if it wasn't for the latter.

1. Elway
2. Montana
3. Graham
4. Baugh
5. Marino
6. Favre
