Hold on. I'm thinking. Gotta think of the songs that really speak to my psychological misgivings.
Lonely Mode
Pearl of the Stars, Coheed and Cambria
It's just a really sad song. While I haven't given it enough thought to hash out what the song means in terms of the Coheed and Cambria universe, the meaning on the surface is present enough.
The singer is torn over the pain and departure of his love. He still holds some guilt over something that happened, as shown in the lyrics
I'd give you everything
if only I'd have known you'd take it
but you don't, cause you're you
That's why I'll always love you
My Pearl of the Stars
Maybe he didn't know what was wrong until it was too late? Maybe he didn't know exactly what to do to fix the problem until she was already too long gone?
Either way, the song is incredibly depressing. And the only outlet the song gives you for the feeling is the love the singer feels for this girl. His Pearl of the Stars. If you were lonely before you listened to this song, prepare to feel like taking a knife to your stomach. This song can make you hurt if you let it.
I'm Going To Fuck Something Up
As a virtue of being me and having the brain I have, I get angry. Incredibly angry. Violently so if I ever lost control, I'm sure. It scares me, I'll admit. But the easiest way to channel anger isn't to punch something. It allows you an outlet, and as science suggests, it makes you more likely to actually give into temptation later on. It's why angry guys that punch walls don't learn to stop punching holes in shit. They like the feeling of release it gives them.
Rather, I listen to music. And it calms me down. Cathartic, if that's even a legitimate use of the term. Specifically, this song.
Fears by Serj Tankian
It's not so much an angry song. It's more the message of the song to fight back.
We pound our fist to the face,
Of fear to seize the cruelty,
Arresting your silence and
Freeing your poor soul.
The beat of the music that Tankian gives really gives something to lose yourself to and just listen. Just listen, and let the anger fade.
Over all Theme
Alright, I might as well answer your exact thread question. My over all, end all theme. The song I would want playing as I went to my classes and did everything that makes my day complete.
Of course, a Coheed and Cambria song.
The Crowing, to be exact.
In keeping with the story told, it's Coheed coming to grips with his place in the Universe.
Did you ever really know before my face shame to break
Did you ever really know before my mind scared to think
Did you ever really know before my name son to these
Did you come clean in the end from the start
Dear Ambellina, the prise wishes you to watch over me
I've fought the decisions that call and lost my part as the relevant piece in this
I will come reformed
In short for the murders of those I court I bless the hour that holds your fall
Sincerely, I will kill you all
I will call you out from shelter burn your wings you'll know no better
I will call you out from shelter burn your wings and learn their letters
His place is to lose himself to the powers of the Crowing, and to kill some shit.
I view it as a call to recognize your own place in this world of worlds, and to embrace it full heartedly. To go balls out and change this world for the better, in the only true way you can. By doing everything within your power, within your mind, and within your soul to make things better. To make things different.
Coheed chooses to kill some bad guys. I choose to volunteer, to help others, to listen to people who just need to talk, and to truly make a difference. Relatively less bloody and a lot easier on the conscience, I would say.
