Although I dont think the event was a disaster, I don't think it was anywhere a success either which seems to be the general opinion of most wrestling fans from what I have been reading. It had a mix of good matches and bad matches I thought.
The problem in my opinion was that, once again, the WWE brought back retired veterans to steal the show, while the younger superstars didn't get a chance to shine. Now, i complete understand and accept the point that if The Rock wasn't there then the WWE wouldn't have sold the amount of tickets that it did, but the WWE has to start over somewhere.
The WWE I think has to get worse before it gets better. Retired veterans need to stay retired and wrestlers who are still there that perhaps shouldn't still be there need to go. Now I'm all for having veterans around if they are going to help pass the torch to the younger stars. What happened to The Miz at WM 27 was a joke and I agree with points made in other threads that he was made to look weak because of this.
That highlights to me that the WWE keep repeating the same mistake of not allowing younger talent to shine and the business is suffering as a consequence.
But all this is hardly a disaster, because the WWE is still the most watched show in the world and still one of the most wealthy businesses in the world. So, point being, they are still in a position to sort it all out, but it will take time. I just hope that they rectify this years "mistakes" at WM 28 next year. Let Cena win next year and Rock pass the torch!
