What Went Wrong: Brent Albright/Gunner Scott

Deexter Jorgan

Has a Dark Passenger on board...
Brent Albright otherwise known as Gunner Scott was one of the WWE's breakout stars, having a couple of breakout feuds with another rising star known as CM Punk battling for the OVW champion in a feud where both men nearly destroyed each other.

Albright was braught up and elevated in a quick feud with Booker T and paired with the Crippler Chris Benoit and booked to be an exact carbon copy of his mentor.

His career lasted from April to October 2006 where he was quickly released from his contract and never heard from again.

Albright made a big splash in the independant scene winning several titles along the way but since hasn't been heard from since.

The question i want to ask is what went wrong?

What i would like you to do is two things
  • Have your say
  • What would you do differently

My Opinion:

Albright could have easily been one of WWE's technical masters and matt based specialists.

If WWE allowed him time to develop on the Smackdown brand Albright in my mind could have been a world champion in the making an upper midcarder that could have filled the void left from the loss of Chris Benoit and Eddie Gurerro's passing but alas was underutilised and the reason for this, he was too much like his mentor.

He didn't stand out because he was told to be Chris Benoit thus he was let go because of this, If i could do things differently I would have given the kid time to shine by himself rather then have him mimik another wrestler because the WWE already had a Chris Benoit and didnt need another.
