What is the greatest thing in the world?

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
God? Freedom? Water? Big Mac?

You pick yours and tell us why it is your favourite thing on Earth.

My pick is Beer. Beer has existed for thousands of years now, has been a replacement for water in cultures for a form of hydration. You might not know this about me, but I have been drinking the refreshing liquid for a good 10 years now, and have enjoyed every drop, forever expanding my pallet. If I want a good cheap beer, I pick Molson Canadian. If I want something to drink on the beach, I go with Corona.

This summer, I drank a lot of Bud Light with Lime. It was a great drink, and it went down like pop. I was also able to mix it with rum for a great effect.

Beer is great, because I can buy a 12 pack, sit with a buddy, and talk with them for hours, until we finish the pack and move on to other things. It is an essential part of camping, fishing, sporting events, or just a good time.

My life might be different today if it was not for the barley fields of Canada.

The best thing in the world is sex. I know, you're thinking I am some kind of pervert now, but stay with me for a minute.

No single act has more versatility. It is used as to further communication, as communication, as a treat, a present, a chore, a weapon, a tease, a promise, and a lie.

No act can mean so much or so little. Sex can be the culmination of courting or of a drunken night. It can seal a covenant or break one. It is a secret that gets out or a rumor that isn't true.

Sex is a mystery. Faked orgasms, false pregancies, surprises in the dark....

Sex is necessary in marriage but goes missing in many.

If Russia is a riddle wrapped in an enigma inside a mystery (apologies to Mr. Churchill), then what is sex?

Quite simply, sex is everything and nothing, an act and a message. It is entertainment and torture. It is the wait and the impulse.

Frankly, every sweaty, mouth watering moment is a microcosm of an entire life. Sex is the only place that eternity last a minute and a minute lasts forever.

FTS made a good point in his post. However, here is mine. I'm sure just about everyone in here will disagree.... but I am entitled to my opinion, and I truly do find this to be cooler than anything else in the world.

As a player (and designer) of RPG games.... there is nothing better than having gained so many levels that your character's stats completely max out, and seeing him/her do the most damage you could possibly do to a monster during battle.

Whether the most you can have in a stat is 99, 255, 999, 9999, or even higher than that.... doing the most damage you can possibly do to a monster in that particular video game, is the coolest thing in the world to me because in that world I am practically invincible without cheating by that point.

High speed internet by far. It's changed the way the economy runs, it's brought families closer than ever, it's created millions of new jobs and its the greatest informational resource in the world.

I'm going to go with hydrogen. now you might laugh at this but it's actually fucking important. Without hydrogen there would be no stars, and every other element in the universe that isn't hydrogen comes from stars. Helium to Iron are made via nuclear fusion, and every other natually occuring element (essentially Zinc to Uranium) comes from Supernovae. Without hydrogen the universe would be a void, deprived of everything, and that's not a good thing.

also, to put a more earthcentric reason, without hydrogen there would be no sun. without the sun there would be no solar system. without the solar system there'd be no earth. without earth there's be no us. Not to mention that Hydrogen gives water its ability to hydrogen bonds (which makes it so damn useful for everything (as a solvent, coolent and all the things that use it for one thing of another)). It's also in every carbohydrate, lipid, and protein you eat, (almost) every medicine you take, every drink you drink, the fuel you put in your car, plastics, the acid in your stomach, and almost everything else you care to name. And that's why Hydrogen is the best thing not only on earth, but in the universe.

honourable mentions go to Benzene, which is found in many modern medicines. and Cholesterol, which is the precurser for such important hormones as testosterone, progesterone and oestrogen; It is also the base structure for all steroids (and ask any athsmatic or rueumatic person how important steroids are to their every day life)) And the elements Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Carbon.

As cheesy as this is going to sound, I'm going to have to say love. Love is the most important thing in our world. Without it, children wouldn't be born into loving homes, parents wouldn't care enough to socialise them into values properly, and consequently there's a strong possibility they wouldn't be able to form relationships or function as we do today.

Love is also a driving force behind so many things. We love wrestling, so we watch it. If we didn't love it, we wouldn't watch it. If we didn't watch it there'd be no promotions which means no jobs for many. The same principle can be applied to almost any company.

Also, love makes us happy. Without it, I'm not going to say we couldn't be happy, but we wouldn't be as happy. Whether it's love for a child or love for a partner, the satisfaction we get is second to none.

I have to go with a clichéd answer to this question too. I would have to say that the greates thing in the world is happiness.

Happiness is something that really keeps me going and a positive outlook on life is crucial for me. I have never been one to feel down on my luck and even when life throws me a curve-ball, I know that my outlook on life will help me a great deal. I very rarley get angry and I think that my nature is really appealing to some people. Nobody wants to hang around with depressed people that have a poor outlook on life and I think it is part of the reason that I have always had a large group of close friends. I also think that happiness is completely under-rated. It seems that in this day and age, some people are perfectly content to stew in their own misery and are doing nothing to make themselves happy. I hate to think what an existence like that would be like.

I am happy at the smallest things too. I remember standing on the platform of an empty train station with the rain pouring down on me and the wind chilling me to the bone. My iPod was playing some Jet Black Stare and I could not have been happier. I got butterflies in my stomach as I thought of the people I loved at that moment and I think that moments like that really are completely under-rated.

I'd say the most important thing in the world, would be laughing.
Rarely is there a serious moment that is an enjoying moment.
Look back in your life, and take out any moment that involved laughing or was funny in nay way. Pretty shitty life, aye?
So Ill go with laughter.

^^^^^^
This although I wouldn't have made it as deep as you did. Quite frankly there is no better feeling before, during,or after than sex. The emotions, the noises, everything about it. Call me a pervert I don't care. But life couldn't go on without sex (literally).

This is going to sound rehearsed, but it's true...

The best thing in the world, is a woman. I know, I'm going to get some shit for that, but it's true. Think about the old saying... "Save the best for last." Well, man came first and woman came last. Not to mention, only a woman can bare a new born, which is another great thing in this world.

Women also go through a lot of shit to be taken for granted. And that's sad considering they're so beautiful. All women are beautiful... and they're so interesting to talk to, if you actually listen.

And not to mention, a woman's touch is the best touch of all time.

I like the option of water up there. It is what made the world and us so it could rightly be the greatest thing in the universe but that is not my answer. My Answer is Family.

To me nothing is better than that feeling of being surrounded by people you love. I don't literally mean your blood family but people you could not live without. Whether it be your best friends or your literal brothers and sisters, I think Family and unity is the number one factor of living a good life.

I know there are married people and people with kids on here and i have to believe that they would agree with me. That the feeling of being with people that love you and vise versa is the best thing in the world
