What if They is....

I think the RVD idea is pretty far fetched... But, in a way, the attack could be exposed as phoney... I mean, he was damn near "killed" by Abyss... So much so, that Bischoff questioned IF he would return, said he had 117 stitches I believe was the number... All that, and RVD is only going to miss one PPV? Seems like he should've been out longer as drastic as they made the attack look...

I really hope that they don't go that route with it, as it wouldn't make much sense at all unless there was a HUGE mastermind behind it... Heyman being the only one that I think could pull something like that off... RVD on his own, couldn't and wouldn't get a heel reaction from the Impact Zone and it would be the let down of the decade to see that piece of booking suicide...

On another note... Am I really the only one who thinks it's weird that Raven was one of the original four EV2 guys and now he's been gone for no apparent reason? He put on a very good match with Dreamer at HJ and then was shown disagreeing with Dreamer on the next Impact, then gone...

I know Raven as They after all this build up would let a lot of people down... But, to me it really looks like he is a logical option... Him and Abyss were tag partners against Dreamer and RVD before HJ... Abyss has never attacked Raven... Why is Raven gone with nothing in the dirt sheets saying that he's injured or explaining why he hasn't been involved with the EV2 angle...?

Could Raven be starting a group to take out EV2 and TNA in general? Maybe he has guys like Daniels, Kevin Thorn, Mike Knox, and a few others and they are "They" ???

TNA has not given a single clue as to who they might be but everyone is tossing names out their as to who it might be.

TNA has not given a single clue? They've been giving us clues all year! That's why people are theorizing on it - there's been so many clues and it's been written so well that "they" could be any number of people: TNA Veterans, Hogan & Bischoff, Main Event Mafia, Jarret & Foley, Heyman, etc.

Look at the clues they have given us.

1. First of all, Abyss has been at the centre of it all so whoever “they” are, there is some connection to him. At the same time, the only other people who have referenced "they" and seem to know who they are, are Sting and Samoa Joe. What are the connections between those three? All are TNA veterans and all are former TNA champions so could "they" be a group of TNA veterans? Or is it a reforming of the Main Event Mafia (Sting & Joe were in it and Abyss qualifies as he's a former champion).

2. Everyone Abyss has attacked all made their names in another company. In fact, and correct me if I’m wrong on this, I’m pretty sure everyone he has attacked was bought in to TNA after Hogan and Bischoff came in, or least post-2009 era, so could "they" be TNA veterans led by Jarret and/or Sting trying to claim TNA back from Hogan & Bischoff. Or again, Main Event Mafia trying to reclaim their spots from the new guys?

3. Abyss gone back to being an uncontrolable monster - is this a clue that it's James Mitchell? He used to "control" him before. However, could it be Sting controlling him? The last fued Abyss was in when Mitchell was controlling him was with Sting back in 2006/2007. Sting eventually "freed him" from Mitchell but not before taking control of Abyss himself. Could Sting be the one behind Abyss? But who is he controlling him for? TNA vets? MEM? Jarret and Foley? NWO Wolfpac? Also, there was a kidnapping in that fued too - a reference to Samoa Joe's kidnapping? Talking of which....

4. Samoa Joe’s kidnap. It’s worth remembering that Joe said that “they said this time it will be different” – this implies whoever “they” are, have been in TNA before. Mitchell and the new church? Except this time with Daniels and maybe Raven? Could it be Jarret and Foley? After all both were treated badly by Bischoff & Hogan but all of a sudden made a quick u-turn and everything was fine - did they hatch a plan so it would be different next time? And again, could it be the Main Event Mafia? These are all people who have tried to control TNA before and ultimately failed. So all you people who have been saying "it better be someone outside of TNA or it's gonna suck" I think are going to be let down.

5. Sting referencing "smoke & mirrors" and "deception". It's pretty safe to say this means the people you think are the good guys are the bad guys, and vice verse. So if Hogan and Bischoff are the bad guys then it means whoever has been against them – Abyss, Sting and Nash – are the good guys. You perhaps could put Jarret and Foley in with the good guys too. Them sucking up to H&B could be part of Sting’s “smoke & mirrors”.

6. Now this clue may not mean anything as TNA do have a habit of not following through on things but remember when people were getting laid out backstage and a playing card was put on them? As far as I remember, this was never solved. Why was a playing card put them? Is that a clue? Well, I know this may be stretching it a bit but…..you know when you type something into google and before you hit enter it comes up with suggestions? Do that with “James Mitchell”. The first suggestion you get is “James Mitchell poker”. Apparantly, there’s a famous poker player called James Mitchell. When Russo was thinking this out, did he simply just type “james mitchell” into google to see what clues he could drop in?! Or was this just an angle that simply didn’t play out?

I personally don’t have a clue who it could be – I used to think it was hogan & bischoff, then I thought it was james mitchell, now I’m veering towards TNA veterans led by Jarret & Foley but I could also see it being MEM. I don’t see it being an outside group, it’s someone with TNA connections. So, in my opinion this rules out the following:

Ex-wwe guys: Haas, Benjamin and Carlito are all working on contracts elsewhere so it would a stable of Mike Knox, Paul Burchill and Gregory Helms? I don’t think so. And there’s no way they could afford Batista.

ROH: no way would Cornette work with tna and no way would they work with him.

UFC: why would ufc get involved with tna? In their eyes, pro-wrestling is beneath them plus they are ultra-successful, they don’t need tna. Also, UFC has become popular because it’s real. They wouldn’t jeopardise that success by alligning themselves with a “fake” sport as it would blur the lines between real and fake and they’re selling point is their shit is real.

Wilpon: Yes, it’s spelt “wilpon”, not “wilson” or “wilbon”! It wont be them anyway, to small time and they’ve even had to delay their promotion until january. There’s more chance of it being the Insane Clown Possee!

Shane MacMahon: No way. 2 reasons. First, if he wanted to be invloved in wrestling he could easily have a lot control in wwe. Secondly, even though he doesn’t work at wwe Vince is still his dad. Is he going to risk his relationship (and all that monaaay!) to help the competitor? At least when Vince put his dad out of business he did it by buying him out, not his competitors.

Finally, I’d just like to say that the OP about RVD isn’t that ridiculous, he’s just coming at from the wrong angle. In real life, we all know RVD was taken out for contractual reasons so this was added to the plan at the last minute and was, I assume, never part of the storyline they started months ago. However, in storyline, look how RVD has been booked. He’s been the Cena of TNA. He won the title really quickly after coming in. Not only that but he won it not only after having 2 matches on Impact but also 2 matches on the ppv just days before making him super-human – like Cena. He then proceeds for the next few months to not only cut shitty face promos but to win, and get the pin, in practically every match he is. When was the last time you saw RVD pinned? Not only that, but when was the last time you saw him in a tag match and he didn’t get the pin? All of these things – winning all the time and shitty face promos – win the kids crowd over but pisses off the “true wrestling fan”, just like Cena. Also, you have the whole TNA roster saying what a great guy he is, Hogan bigging him up as the “face” of the company (smoke and mirrors again – face = heel) and when someone is being pushed that hard as a face then only one thing can happen next – heel turn. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if RVD is in on it – not as part of “they” – but in with a heel hogan and bischoff.

Sorry for the long post – I’ve been thinking about this for a while and kudos to TNA for that. We all like to bash tna for things not making sense but I think with this storyline, so far, it’s been better that way and maybe us wrestling fans should learn to be more patient. Of course, with Russo being a massive fan of “Lost” we could all be wrong and Rick Flair did actually die in that plane crash in the 70’s and everything we’ve seen is him trying to meet up with the important people in his life (“they”) so he can move on to the next one!

I'll try and keep this post short but i'd like to throw another name into the hat - an NWA faction (that's not a typo, I do mean NWA not NWO!). Think about the connections:

They used to have a partnership with tna (Joe saying "this time it will be different"). Abyss, Sting, Jarret and Raven are all former NWA champions. If they wanted to add to it after they have people on the roster who are also ex-nwa champions - AJ Styles, Rhino, Sabu and the ultimate one, Rick Flair. NWA also has connections with NJPW which could lead to a japanese faction. NJPW's belt is the unified (not undefined as Alicia Fox would say!) version of the IWGP which Angle held in TNA. Talking of which...

Angle was the last person to hold the NWA belt in TNA but it was never officially recognised by the NWA. Perhaps he wanted "the most prestigious belt in wrestling history" but instead of going there, he bought them back to TNA and after he wins at BFG, he throws the belt down and declares himself the new NWA Champion in a reversal of the Shane Douglas incident - this would also explain the ECW beat down. After all, as hogan keeps reminding us, whoever holds the belt holds the power in Tna.

I was thinking this just last night.. Not many people remember that Abyss was in ROH for a few years and there is one stable that he joined still operating today. That's The Embassy. Now if you look at it from this angle, it's very possible. Since TNA is has had a lot of storylines related to money and power, Prince Nana fits perfectly into the mold of leader. Then you figure that he brings in Erick Stevens and Necro Butcher. Necro could be the guy who inspired Janice. Davari could return to TNA easily and be a part of this stable. You figure that if TNA wanted.. there are a lot of former Embassy members who were/are in TNA as well. That would figure in with it as well. Again, this is just speculation - as is everything else in this topic - so what do you guys think?

I could see it happen my question is would people accpet it or not as "they" have been so hyped. What if TNA made "they" such a power that they interrupt the mainevent At BFG that they abduct the TNA title, would it get them super over or would people be pissed their was no closure to the title at BFG??? I personally could see it happen, What was Abyss' beef with RVD about???? because RVD had the title i could easily see in Abyss/RVD match Abyss hits the blackhole slam and walks out the ring and doesn't pin RVD, because RVD is worthless to them since he doesn't have the title, instead they go and take out the mainevet scene, at this point I would say fans are WAY WAY MORE interested in "they" then the actual title picture

I can't see this happening - at least not while Cornette is working with ROH. I don't see anyway in which ROH and TNA can work together and they would have to to make this work. Also, like the previous poster said, it would be a huge let down as not many people know about that stable. For the majority of TNA fans, even when "they" is revealed as The Embassy, the fans still wouldn't know who "they" are. Actually, that does sound a bit like tna logic.....
