What happened to Bobby Lashley?

NegativeFeedback

Mid-Card Championship Winner
He was pushed to the moon. He beat Umaga at WrestleMania. He shaved Vince's head. He took the ECW title off of him months later. Vince screwed him by vacating the title, but he got a WWE title match anyway. He was then injured in a match with Kennedy (go figure) and he then took time off................... and then he was released.

Really weird. I remember reports saying Lashley was frustrated because he was ready to come back, but they didn't have anything for him yet so he requested his release. That sounds really fishy to me. Some sort of falling out must have occurred, but I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm really curious. He just signed a 2-year contract with IGF. If he was gonna wrestle somewhere, I wonder why he didn't send feelers to WWE. Something must have happened that must have gotten him on Vince's shit-list.

Anyone know what went on?? Is there any popular rumor I haven't heard of?? Comment below, let me know.

he did some work in tna after his work n wwe witch ended as fast as it started. dont no y tho. maby somthing backstage idk. right after he left tna i saw a comerical were he was gonna fight mma and that all i no. it is strange looks like he had all the tool and both wwe and tna wanted him in there ME then he just gone. strange

He was unhappy with his compensation for the Wrestlemania match, and later had some issues with something regarding his girlfriend or wife who worked there at the time. That's all I can remember, it was talked about on an old radio show I used to listen to. They have archived shows and did a wrestling segment basically every show, so whenever I listen back to old shows I hear old wrestling news and stories. That's what I remember hearing when they discussed Lashley.

I'm sure I read somewhere it was something to do with something to do with his girlfriend, wasn't that Kristal?

Lashley hasn't done much in wrestling at all since leaving WWE, apart from a short run in TNA as "The Boss", which went absolutely nowhere. I think he feuded with Scott Steiner, who was trying it on with Kristal.

He had one of the greatest physqiues I have ever seen, no wonder Vince wanted to push him hard, but the least threatening face on the planet and he was terrible on the mic. He didn't have all the tools needed to be a major star other than his look, but I always thought he was pretty decent in the ring.

Guess he will end up one of those guys like Ahmed Johnson who the company wanted to make into a star, but it never happened.

Lashely definitely had some potential. His initial stint on Smackdown and ECW was enjoyable and he was showing signs that he could be a top guy. He was certainly over and I think he may have been one of the most popular guys on the roster at the time.

To be fair to Lashley, he rose to the top when there was a lot of competition. Cena, Orton, Batista, Undertaker, Edge and Triple H. He was good in the ring and had the look but was limited elsewhere. He simply couldn't compete with the aforementioned names which is a shame because I do think he had potential.

Bringing him back is never a serious option because he is a lot older now and, I presume, hasn't improved on the mic. Although he was popular, I don't think anyone considers him a big name/draw so the WWE would benefit that much from bringing him back.

He left WWE after his GF was released, I think I remember hearing something like he believed he was being held back & she was let ago because they were black, He went to TNA but left there so he could put all his focus on his MMA career, he's also started several businesses in the Denver area, a gym, a smoothie shop, & an MMA management company. I assume he opted to wrestle for Japan cause he can make a bunch of money there & not have to work & be on the road as much as he would had he gone back to WWE, keep in mind I'm sure IGF has provided him with a place to live there in Japan while he's wrestling.

I can't say Lashley would have been a top guy in the WWE but he was very entertaining in a basic athletic type of way. He was big, physical, and athletic so he was pretty much like Brock Lesnar in that respect. His only problem was his mic skills, similar to Lesnar when he had his first push, but, like Lesnar, Lashley didn't really need to have strong mic skills to get over.

Problem with him is, like Lesnar again, Lashley's heart was never in wrestling. Yeah he had the tools to be a main event or upper mid carder but if it's not your passion you are not going to be in the industry long.

Again like Lesnar.

He's making a pretty decent splash in the MMA scene. He's had 10 solid wins from 5 submissions, 2 KO's and 2 decisions. He also has a management company where he represents other fighters. He's also wrestling part-time in Japan too.

I'm sure that if things had went down differently and they parted ways amicably, Bobby would have come back. He was way too well-positioned on the card to be so unceremoniously released for no reason. Mr. McMahon put him over himself. Not many get that type of opportunity. I wish we knew the full story, and if it really was because of Kristal's release, WWE is freaking insane for letting something so small get in the way between them and one of their top guys.

I think Lashley is indicative of what could've been a very scary trend for WWE management: using them as a stepping stone to move on to other projects. Rock, Lesnar, Lashley, Batista -- they all left at a time when they were being pushed hard, and as far as I'm aware, all of their own volition.

He's fighting jobbers in the lower circuit in MMA. He has a good record but last fight I saw him in I think it was against Clay Guida's brother... He was getting tagged on the feet, Lashley's stand up is horrible.

I actually just re-watched his match with John Cena at The Great American Bash. It was pretty awesome, I gotta say. Too bad he was gone like 8 days after that. He didn't have the best voice for a promo but he was fun to watch in the ring. Hell, even a few of his matches with Umaga weren't bad. If politics got in the way, that's too bad.

Big muscular guy with no other visible unique traits . . . the WWE has enough of those.

Perfect guy to stick with a manager . . . should have stuck him with Abraham Washington, either in TNA or WWE.
