What does Big E's move accomplish?

I know you can list wrestling moves that don't connect, right down to pulled punches. But what THE HELL is the point of Big E's move? Did you see it just now? They showcase his strength by having him get out of Kane's chokehold---only to have Big E hoist Kane in the air and....fall harmlessly to the mat?? Suspension of disbelief is one thing but COME ON!

The mechanics of Big E Langston's finisher are easy to understand if the move is sold properly.

Imo, the force of the drop is supposed to force the opponent to bounce his own head into the canvas.

That's fair. I honestly haven't seen it much, so let me ask you...does it always look as bad as tonight? If so, he needs to drop it.

I always thought it was some sort of rib breaker. Big E driving his shoulder into their abdomen but at the same time it is pretty anti climatic.

That would be ok...knocking the wind out perhaps. But they should say so. Mandible Claw looked silly til they explained what it did to the receiver, for example. Just seems like a move that needs to be sold better to be effective in any capacity. Thanks guys

Big E's finisher is truly one of the worst I've ever seen. Not sure at all what it's point is. It looks like it does more damage to Big E than his opponent.

the move really sucks. no impact what so ever. it would be 100 times better if Big E landed on his ass with his legs straight out, like a stunner position. driving that big shoulder up into his opponents chest/ribs would actually do some damage.

Sell what right? Dolph Zoggler's roided-up Cabbage Patch Doll looking black manservent's finisher involves forcing his victim to bodysplash him.

"It knocks the wind out of him." How? We're honestly supposed to believe that Langston's abs are hard enough to eliminate his opponent's ability to breath, solely by make his victim attack them?

"It makes the guy's head hit the ground." Then it is, officially, the goofiest, most easily defended finisher in the history of professional wrestling. "Holy crap, King! Kane put his hands down, and blocked Langston's finisher! How the hell did he do that?"

In a world where the People's Elbow, the Garvin Stomp, the Worm, and the Tadpole Splash are supposed to be seen as credible ways to end a match, this one takes the cake for dumbassery. I've never seen a move in which the entire point is for the victim to break himself by attacking the guy giving the move.

I think it's a fantastic move. I don't see people complaining about that garbage reverse bulldog shit Ziggler does. Now that's an awful finisher.

I wouldn't call it "fantastic," but it isn't nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. You're absolutely right about the Zig Zag, though. I was happier when he was trying to bring back the Sleeper Hold.

Wrestling's got a long, proud history of moves that don't quite make sense or would never legitimately work in a fight. It is what it is. I'm more concerned with what Big E can do before his finisher right now.

Destruction, is what it accomplishes.

Exactly.

Listen, I know he's big and muscular, the exact opposite of what 4.4% (IWC) of the wrestling audience wants and needs, but this is ridiculous.

I suppose Cena should stop doing the STFU seeing he's really only squeezing their faces with his massive forearms...

Seriously, if you cant comprehend what having a record breaking powerlifter yanking you DOWNWARDS with all his strength PLUS bodyweight would do to your face, then your a goddamn idiot.

Not enough flippies, guys. As a matter of fact, get Big E out of a singlet and into some tights, put some tassels on his tits, paint his face and have him set up all his moves off the top rope. Book it, brother.

I hate both but the Zig-Zag is way worse. I hated it when Shelton Benjamin did the Paydirt thing, but at least that was almost realistic.

... But you land on his arm. It would hurt him pretty badly as well.

It impacts his opponent's abdomen such that they feel a tummy ache and cannot kick out.

It also gets the ladies moist, like when Ziggler farts all over the stage during his entrance.

It'd be a start, actually. If the can do the step-over toehold bit right, why does he have so much trouble with the facelock?

Now, we've been over Big E's finisher. As I understand it, it's supposed to be an over-the-shoulder cutter. Cutters attack the head by forcing it onto the mat.

There we go. I don't think it's a rib-breaker at all.

When Randy does the RKO, we don't bitch about it, in spite of the way he safely brings down the opponent's head, which he has to do in fake fighting.

Where I do have the problem with it, is its safety: You're forcing another man to take a chest/face bump pretty hard. I think that's why we often see Big E grabbing the person more toward the head than the knees, so he can help cushion the impact. If he were to drop the opponent with their thighs on his shoulder, I think it'd be a clearer move, but dangerous as shit as well, because of the whiplash.

It sets up really well. I mean it makes him look like a beast since getting any human being up on one shoulder is impressive, but the execution is what leaves you wondering.

You could line a lotta moves here that are lame then.

But yet Big E's finisher has made me ponder. Well all Fireman Carry Finishers were taken.
