I've recently bought a few c.d.'s. Some good, some bad, some lived above and beyond expectations, some didn't even live beyond the single-hit they were selling the album for..
Nickelback: Dark Horse: I couldn't wait to buy this album mainly because I've been a huge Nickelback fan since before they were "popular". Unfortunately, this is the album that falls into the "couldn't live beyond the single they were selling it for" category.
About roughly four songs of this 11 track c.d. were worth it and rememberable. Those songs are.
"Burn it to the Ground",
"Gotta Be Somebody",
"I'd Come for You", and
"Never Gonna Be Alone".
The one glaring issue I have with this c.d., is it sounds like the members of Nickelback were on a sex-break, as roughly all of the songs it seems are in reference to getting some. The truly sad thing is, they basically said they hoped this album would out-do their previous one. Well, if it does.. I would be willing to suggest their next one won't, in fear of everyone being massively disappointed even worse.
Hinder: Take It To The Limit: This is a c.d. that's taken a turn for me. Mind you, it wasn't actually a c.d. I purchased for myself.. as more of a Birthday gift for my Wife. She loves Hinder.
I liked their first c.d., and originally when I first heard all of this one, I thought it was shit. But the weird thing is, the more I listen to it, the more I begin falling in love with it. I can't exactly answer why either, I just know it's a great c.d. to listen to when playing Madden.
Staind: Illusion of Progress: Without a doubt, this is my stand-out c.d. thus far of 2009. (granted we're not even a month in) When I purchased this c.d., it was for one song.. and like someone above who mentioned that you normally fall for the entire c.d., on the whem of buying it for a single song.. that's what happened here for me.
Two songs namely off this c.d. have become new, all-time favorites and retrospective themes for my life. They are
"All I Want", and
"Tangled Up In You".
Def Leppard: Vault; Def Leppard's Greatest Hits: Truth be told, I bought this c.d. for one song and one song alone.
"When Love & Hate Collide". What's worse, I bought it in the belief that their original single would song just as great, if not greater than their newer duet w/ Taylor Swift. I was wrong.
It's Taylor Swift that actually makes me fall in love with this song. And thus, I sadly spent an undue amount of $10.00. While the c.d. in all has all the original Def Leppard classics I'm used to, I likely wouldn't of bought it, had I of been able to listen to the song I wanted if for, pre-hand.

For the Future: There is the new Trapt c.d. that someone above mentioned. I'm highly interested in purchasing that. As well as the newest Theory of a Deadman c.d.
