Went to the Garth Brooks concert last night

Excellence of Execution
If you ever get a chance to go, do it. He's an amazing entertainer and his songs are perfect for a concert setting. I didn't get home until after 1 in the morning, so I'm a little tired this morning, but the concert was totally worth it.

Awesome night.

I'd take it over the Blake Shelton I have to hear whenever I'm around my mom.
Yeah...I wouldn't be going to a Blake Shelton concert. Garth is probably one of only three acts I'd drop money to see anymore. Tool and Elton John are the others, and I've already seen Tool.

Garth Brooks, Tool and Elton John...those three things have a lot in common, right? :suspic:

I wouldn't either but my mom has a crush on him.

I'm not much of a concert guy anymore. I've been to several but it's just too expensive most of the time, especially when you have so many drunk people around you most of the time.

I've never been to a stadium concert. My favorite band plays smaller venues, so it's usually like 10 bucks and we push our way to the front.

Didn't Brooks play like 4 shows this weekend? I saw people on Facebook who went more than once.

This is the first one I've been to in years.

My wife hadn't either. She's a HUGE Garth Brooks fan, to the point she was even singing along with the encore songs which never really received radio play.

Yeah, that's usually how it works. He'll announce a location and then he'll play several dates in a row at that location. He played four in St. Louis (and it showed early in the concert...his voice was a little rough, though it got better throughout the concert).

I can't imagine having a following big enough that you could sell out the same venue four nights in a row. That's insane.

He does it everywhere. He recently did 11 sold out shows in Minneapolis. Back in 2007, he did 9 sold out shows in Kansas City.

He's a superstar, in the true meaning of the word.

I remember the Eagles doing something similar in Fenway Park a few years back.

Saw the Eagles a couple of months ago in Vegas. Awesome show, would highly recommend them. Smaller venue, played a lengthy show, and man those guys are talented. Seems to be about your speed, Sly, I think.

There was a charity event about ten years ago with Bill Mahr as one of the people appearing. A guy of about twenty yelled at the house band to shut up because they couldn't hear Mahr. Mahr told the kid to go read a book, because that band was far more important than he (Mahr) would ever be. The band was the Eagles.

He sold out Croke Park in Dublin 5 nights running (415,000 tickets) but a combination of the Mayor trying to make a name for himself and a very dubious protest letter from local residents (it was proved that many of the signatures were forged while other people admitted to taking bribes to sign) ultimately caused them to be cancelled. I was not impressed! Did catch him way back in '98 though.

The Eagles are also excellent, I've managed to catch them twice. Elton is a class act too - saw him in Belfast a couple years ago.

I don't know a lot of Eagles stuff, but I do know some and the stuff I know I generally like. Except for Hotel California, can't hardly stand that one. I have a live version of Desperado and it's easily my favorite Eagles piece.

He played a series of shows near me a few years back with Billy Joel...and I had not heard anything about it until the last night. That kind of sucked.

Do hate when that happens - very infuriating. I'd love to See Billy Joel but don't think he hits my shores much.

Elton had seen two twins who played cello on YouTube and hired them to open and play with them. He played for about two hours and never left the stage, although he let the band go off for an extended break and just played himself. Definitely catch him if you get the chance, good sir.

I went to a Garth Brooks concert when I was a wee lad, literally. I was conceived in the hotel that night. Wonderful person, that Brooks guy is. Without him who knows where I'd be?
