It was reported on TMZ that Shelly Ehler was upset at Alberto Del Rio for ripping her 8-year-old's sign up and then mocking her son crying.
I spoke to Ehler in an exclusive interview recorded for Wrestling Reality on TribLIVE Radio and she revealed TNA President Dixie Carter personally called her today.

Carter said she was sad to read about her WWE experience and offered Ehler's family VIP passes to Bound For Glory in Phoenix, AZ.
Ehler said Carter explained TNA's wrestlers would never act that way. She encouraged them to come meet Hulk Hogan and all the wrestlers on behalf of TNA.

The full 12 minute conversation between Ehler and I will be released tomorrow. During the interview the following topics are covered...
- Her detailed account of the incident with Alberto Del Rio
- Sheamus reaching out to her through Direct Message on Twitter
- She asks me if I feel Del Rio acted like a bully
- If she'll ever bring her son back to a WWE show
- How TMZ got a hold of the story
- Dixie Carter's conversation with her
In resumed form, momma takes child to a WWE show and Alberto Del Rio ripped up the kid's sign who then cried. Momma didn't like it and contacted Sheamus (I don't know how she did that, but I'd love to know how) who promised to visit the boy and sent him a signed photo. When Dixie Carter got wind of it, she contacted the mother and handed her a freakin' VIP package for Bound For motherfuckin' Glory after saying "we don't do that. That's mean". Yeah, the more mature rated company doesn't rip signs away.

Are you fucking kidding me? I know momma was being protective. Kids can be sensitive and having a smelly dude with no charisma run off and break your sign because he's a sore loser can be traumatizing (personally, plain ol' listening to him can be more traumatizing), but for God's sake, the lady got compensated as if her son got beat up and spit on. Is that a good idea? If more people hear about this, they'll line up with excuses the second their child seems sad over something happening on a show. Next thing you know another mom is going to call saying her son got an erection when he saw Kaitlyn pass by. Then Dixie's going to call and offer her a Lockdown VIP package and say "our Knockouts don't cause boners. We don't do that". Exaggerated, I know. But we're kinda blowing things out of proportion over a kid crying anyway. Right?

Meh, it's easy publicity that resonates with some people. Seeing as TNA's charging $35 for entrance ramp seats, and $10 for other tickets, they've already made back their money just by making the offer. Don't read too much into this, it's just social marketing.

I laughed when I saw that Dixie reached out this woman. Dixie has fuck all to do with the situation, so it seems like a cheap publicity ploy. I don't necessarily blame her, she has to make her product seem superior to the competition, but it's still just plain fucking silly. Moreover, the mother is the one to blame in this situation. God forbid a heel stays in character and tries to work the crowd, right? This is tame compared to the lengths some heels have gone to in the past to get heat, but NOOOOOOOOO -- Alberto Del Rio is a bully. Don't take your kid to a show if he doesn't understand that the wrestlers are actors. Seriously. Then, don't bitch and moan when the wrestler comes out and does his god damned job. When did people become so sensitive to the point where the product has to be dumbed down? Jesus, a bad guy went and played his part and the lady raises up a shitstorm over it. Bewilders me.

Funniest part of this all -- to me, at least -- is that on Impact a few weeks ago (open fight night, Roode vs Storm) Bobby Roode got into a shouting match a ringside with a fan and told her to kiss his ass... But TNA doesn't do that kind of stuff, right? Keep hustling, Dixie. With the way you've promoted Bound for Glory, I don't blame you for trying to move some tickets.

This is bullshit, wrestlers have been doing things like that for years, its just part of the show..I can recall Jericho doing it all the time in WCW.

Yeah I get the kid probably put alot of time into his sign but Del Rio was just staying in character. On the UK TV show Gladiators in the 1990s, the "heel" character Wolf would rip up kids signs all the time and noone was complaining about it.

All this will do is cause more parents ringing either WWE or TNA whining that their crybaby children were upset at a wrestler, or had their feelings hurt, trying to get some free shit. Scroungers.

I agree with the OP 200%. I don't even think he exaggerated at the end. When something free is involved people will move mountains to get it. I don't think we should be compensating like that for a ripped up sign. Jeez I thought that has always been part of the show. If the kids feelings were seriously hurt, and I mean seriously they could have quietly sent him an apology letter with some merch in it, and the kid would have been as happy as could be. Dixie gives this kid VIP passes to their biggest show of the year, and you can guarantee other people are going to try and take advantage of that.

I went and watched what happened on RAW after reading about what Alberto Del Rio did to the 8 year old kid by taking his sign and ripping it was just part of what they do. Many wrestlers over the years have done that, it's fan interaction. What I think was wrong was that he did it to a kid and then heckled the crying child afterwards. Steps should be taken by WWE so these things don't happen again but what most people forget is back in the 80's the Million Dollar Man use to offer money for people to do things, He had a small black kid bounce a basket ball 10 times for $100. The kid didn't cry after the ball was kicked away. With what happened at Raw with the child should have been addressed by WWE and the call from the mother should have been handled properly by WWE.

TNA's Dixie Carter should not have stuck her nose into something that had nothing to do with TNA. She said that TNA wrestlers would never do that. I've seen it happen on Impact. The woman should not make a promise that she can't keep. I know that she is trying to make TNA great but by stealing a fan away like this is just low but then again VIP treatment I'm sure the mother will take them up on it and on Bound for Glory something will be mentioned about the woman and her child just to get TNA fans to boo WWE.

I trully think Fans go where they wanna go. Personally I am a fan of TNA and WWE. I just think it's crappy on how one company is trying to steal a fan from another.

You got that right. She's just a pathetic leech hoping to mooch free shit out of a wrestling promotion. It's the good ol' entitlement culture our society has become. It's not your job to teach your kids that somebody like Alberto Del Rio is an actor playing a role, It's Vince McMahon and Dixie Carter's job to give you free shit because your little crotchdroppling doesn't know the difference between real and make believe.

I remember at an ECW show in Pittsburgh years ago Tommy Dreamer and Raven had a street fight match. They went into the section me and my father were sitting in, Tommy Dreamer hit Raven with a thing of nachos, and I got cheese allover my shirt. So by this woman's logic Paul Heyman should give me a new shirt.

I'm just curious, but you guys aren't parents are you? I know I'd be pretty fucking mad if I took my kid sister or brother to one of these shows and they ended up crying because one of the heels thought it would be a good idea take his/her sign and rip it up. There's hundreds of stuck up jerks in the front row. Why go for a kid? I wouldn't sue but I'd damn sure tell Del Rio he's a load of crap for going after a kid for cheap heat when there's so many people to choose from. She may have gone overboard and she certainly got overcompensated (do you what I would give to see a TNA show let alone Bound For Glory and the Hall Of Fame ceremony?) but as a parent, she made the right call to be mad.

Frankly the find the whole situations stupid and Dixie making the offer was by far the dumbest thing she could do. Let's run down the senario should we...

Overly protective mother thrown a fit when a wrestler, in character, rips up her kids sign and mocks his crying. Overly protective mother then takes her 8 year old child to Bound For Glory where he will get to witness an absolute blood bath by James Storm and Bobby Roode, and God only knows what else with the A&8 match. Overly protective mother will then spread bad publicity that Dixie invited her 8 year old child to see something that no 8 year old child should see.

Frankly if I was a wrestler, and this happened and the woman threw a fit my response would be along the lines of "do you also complain to McDonalds when they put your fries in a cardboard box." It's part of the damn show if you don't like it, don't take you're child. Crap like this is one of the biggest reasons I hate the PG-13 garbage you open the door for this kind of stupidity.
