Was I the only one who loved Cole's "little box?"

Personally, I thought it was over the top, I thought his segment last night was great, but I didn't feel as though the box did anything to further his character.

I loved it because it reminded me of JR is RAW circa 1999 a guy who is a heel that is getting over quickly although JR was cheered for his antics back in 1999.

You gotta wonder about the time and energy that the WWE has put into Cole's character, have they put too much time and effort into it and less time on everything else they have? I mean when you look at it, they're putting so much time into Cole's character and all the while you see guys like Sheamus (until last night), Kofi Kingston, Ted DiBiase, Jack Swagger (his involvement in the Cole vs. Lawler match doesn't count) and John Morrison (doesn't count that he's in a match with Trish, Snooki, Laycool and Ziggler )

I'm just saying that with all of this effort to make Cole into this heel of Andy Kaufman like proportions, couldn't they have put it towards something else?

Also, we've all been hearing that Cole's character is supposed to culminate at Mania where Lawler will beat the living hell out of him. My question is exactly what do you do following that? You can't have Cole go back to being a regular announcer and you can't have him continue his character because he loses at Mania, he has no momentum. He'll simply be all talk and nothing else. And with Jim Ross showing up and saying regarding Cole's claiming Raw as Cole's show, JR saying to him "I've been meaning to talk to you about that." Could this mean that we could see the return of JR and King, something that we all know and love to watch for commentary? Face it, Lawler wants him back. I want him back and the Fans damn sure want him back.

Lastly, what's too far with this character? He spat on NXT to where he's not even on it anymore (Thank God) he interrupts the divas match and even goes as far as to get up on the table on a microphone saying to wrap it up (Come on, divas match or not, that was still going a little overboard). Vickie Guerrero is annoying as hell, but at least the kind of heat she generates only makes you boo her. Cole's heat makes people reach for the remote control.

I thought the Cole Mine was both hilariously ridiculous and a brilliant touch. It adds to the already established persona of the cowardly rat like heel Cole. I say keep it a main stay on Raw to keep him away from Lawler until the just before wrestlemania were King finally snaps and smashes the Cole mine to shit, adding a last minute bit of extra intensity to the feud before wrestlemania.

On a side note, I've noticed the IWC are hating on him as well as the average fan which proves he's doing his job. Just because he isn't a 'cool heel' like chris jericho, randy orton or triple h wasn't doesn't mean he's a bad heel.

Just because he isn't a 'cool heel' like chris jericho, randy orton or triple h wasn't doesn't mean he's a bad heel.

Exactly.

Further more, I have never seen such despise towards a top heel on the IWC.. well, ever. I'd say that if he's that hated by the viewers (who mainly constitute the IWC), he seems to me pretty much the best non-wrestler heel in at least the last decade. My favorite quote from this thread:
Vickie Guerrero is annoying as hell, but at least the kind of heat she generates only makes you boo her. Cole's heat makes people reach for the remote control.

I thought the "Cole Mine" was brilliant and hilarious. It also allows both Cole and King to do commentary at the same time, without switching them out like they've been doing in past weeks.

Michael Cole is the best heel on RAW right now, and I hope his character continues far after WM. It's pretty much a given that Lawler is going to win their match, but I'm still hoping that Cole is revealed as the RAW GM sometime afterwards. That way, JR can return to commentary with Lawler, but we get the weasel Cole calling all the shots, stacking the odds against the faces like Cena and Orton, and doing all he can to help out guys like Miz and CM Punk.

Yeah i thought the box was hilarious. I think people need ti give Cole more credit in my view hes playing his role as a super heel brilliantly his heat even eclipses Vicky's. I also think hes great on the mic and think a lot of his segments are really funny.

As for after mania i know this wont happen but id love to see him move to Smackdown and assume the Gm role from Teddy Long, in my view he could play an excellent Vince like authority figure attempting to dominate the show and have him get involved with fueds with some of the better faces on the mic eg Edge, Christian etc etc could be comedy gold.

IT WAS GENIUS! I loved it! You know, sometimes, creative just gets it right every once in awhile...

But anyways, Cole has truly gone to a whole new level of heel, and I never once in a million years would think that we would be so lucky to see the destruction of Michael Cole...ahh...its truly wonderful. But it was definitely a great ingenious way of protecting Cole until WrestleMania as I assume the Cole Mine will be back for the next two weeks of Raw until 'Mania. It's little things like that that will make Raw a better product. It wasn't a complex concept, it was relatively simple and thats the way it should be!

I liked the box...I just sorta wish it was sound proof and his mic didn't work.
Don't get me wrong, Cole is a pretty good heel. But sometimes he takes too much attention was from the wrestlers. Plus, he can get real fuckin' annoying sometimes.

The box made me love his cowardliness even more. It was funny, but at the same time it was stupid. The box wouldn't protect from anything. The box has no lid so you can just run and jump over it. But it was funny. But I think that Jerry was the one who needed the box more.

The thing that did it for me where the photos he stuck on the monitor, really moved his character along as a self obsessed ego maniac

Cole has totally won me over recently, he's a fantastic heel.... shame he's still doing play by play, have him do colour commentary or not at all & he would be one of the best parts about WWE in recent memory.

The box has definite potential. Especially if he gets to lock it to keep Lawler out, and he can taunt him from inside without Lawler being able to do anything about it...Or so Cole thinks. The box has no top. While Cole can lock others out to protect himself, while he is doing that, he is essentially in a non-escapable environment as well. So...Cole locks himself inside...and Lawler gets a bucket of water, slime, or something else that he can simply dump over the edge, to get his revenge on Cole without "touching" him.

I loved it because it reminded me of JR is RAW circa 1999 a guy who is a heel that is getting over quickly although JR was cheered for his antics back in 1999.

This is exactly what I thought of too. It was a brilliant touch. Makes Cole come off as even more of an arrogant dink, while also contributing to his cowardish appeal.

it's a nice bit and fits in very well with cole's current character. he talks a lot and hypes himself up but only does something when he's got help. on raw last week i'm sure he could have easily taken out JR on his own if he wanted to but instead he waited for swagger then went back to his box when that bit was over.
then there was smackdown where he went as far as hiding in the box from booker and only emerging to attack a downed masters.
it's a great way of giving him more heat (if that's even possible) and goes well with his cowardly heel persona

The "Cole Mine" was amazing. I don't understand the legit hate for Cole, personally. He's the best heel the WWE has had in a long, long time. .

Cole is a joke as a heel. Just because he acts like a heel doesnt mean hes a good heel. He cant act, everything about him is forced, and not like a natural effective heel should be, it sounds like hes just reciting lines he was told to say, like telling lawler his family sucks over and over. Its sad that raw revolves around this talentness annoying git. Just compare it to the day of bishoff being the heel general manager of raw. Now that was an effective believable heel.

I thought that this was a nifty little addition to Cole's character and I am glad that they have continued it through the week to the latest edition of Raw. I would be very surprised if it is not at next week's Raw before WrestleMania too. All in all, I think that it adds a little more fuel to the fire between Michael Cole and The King without going so far as being intrusive or annoying. The security guards that accompany him to the box is also a nice touch, especially when he is being such a tremendous douche to Jerry Lawler.

The cowardly tactics of Michael Cole are encapsulated in that one little bit and it makes for a great heel persona. Not only can he say whatever he wants without having to fear the King chinning him as he sits next to him, he can also bank on the safety of his security and the box itself. I absolutely adored him sticking his head up from behind the glass to shut down the Diva's match on Raw. Eve did us all a favour when she reached up and gave him a slap on the jaw. Still, I think that it is a nice little addition to the show and it is making Michael Cole's job all that much easier.

Cole is on fire right Now... His heel personna is perfect. I agree with most of what he says about the Divas and everything lol. At first i didnt care about the match with lawler but now Cole made me interested in the fight. In the last weeks, his feud with lawler escalated and now its at the point where it needs to be.

I think it was a good idea to put him into his own box. before that i was wondering how michael cole and jerry lawler could announce together after what cole did at jerry's title shot. i just do not like watching him struggling to get out of the box to read the emails.

was i the only one who was hoping the box was soundproof?:lmao:

I loved it. Michael Cole is so over as a heel. People genuinely hate his guts, so the whole shtick is working fantastic. He is playing a cowardly announcer who badmouths everyone and runs from confrontation. The box was hilarious and just made him all the more hilarious.

I still think it should have a roof on it as it doesn't seem very "protective" it's good when he gets up on his little desk to have a rant but that could still be done if the case was abit bigger, it would just look more practical in my opinion
