The Warlord
Pre-Show Stalwart
Im so out of the loop right now its not even funny. I understand Goldberg is back to fight Lesnar which caught my attention. An old school return will always peak my interest.
Are they building this towards Mania so they can induct Bill into the hof the night before?
How have they handled Lesnar after his ufc win and positive steroid test?
Im not even going to ask if Cena is heel yet...we all know Vince is scared of his own shadow nowadays. Those grapefruits are more like plums.
How is the brand split working out?
Regardless, wrestling in the last several years turned me off to the point where I dont even follow it. The in ring product looks so choreographed. The interviews seem so forced. Everything from the presentation to the bright colors make it seem like a play than an actual sport.
I guess what Im trying to say is that my main problem with the business today is they stopped treating it as if it were real. Perhaps we need the right mentality? Perhaps we need the talent to take things more seriously. Back in the day you had guys like Michaels, Austin, and Hart who had heat with others and between each other because they were competitive and wanted to be the best. This would result in real life feuds that would spill over onto tv and make everything seem more authetic. Go back further to the 80s and it was the same then too with Dynamite, the Rougeus, Savage, etc.
I know the business has changed...but it has not evolved because that would mean it's gotten better. Perhaps the talent nowadays is more professional...but in a way it hurts the product. We need the guys to step out and challenge the authority...and when I say this I mean backstage, not on camera for the 1000th time, god forbid.
Im hoping the day will come when I can start looking forward to Mondays again. Maybe the WWE needs competition for this to happen? Maybe we have to wait for the right talent to come along? I dont know. What I do know is that this is the first time in almost 30 years that I have stopped watching wrestling (or whatever they call it nowadays) completely.
I saw someone on facebook posted the Goldberg return and it really got me thinking. The wheels started turning and realized why I have lost so much interest. I felt the need to get it off my chest so I used this forum as my platform. Sorry for rambling, and I hope I didnt waste your time...but if others feel the same I'd love to hear. If you feel different and think Im a complete idiot, I'll read that too.
How do you feel about the current state of wrestling?
