Tri-Top: Samuel L. Jackson

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
Samuel L. Jackson has been given more film oppurtunities than almost any other person ever in Hollywood, and he has risen to the challenge in most of them. He has been in the most money making movies of all times, with almost $5,000,000,000.00 of box office draws. But what are your favourite movies by him?

Pulp Fiction- He brought a lot to this movie, from his cold hard character citing the infamous bible quotes (he improvised it a little) to the restaurant scene. Although it was a movie made for no one to shine too bright, and everyone ended up shinning a lot, Samuel's role was incredible.

Deep Blue Sea- Yeah the movie was kind of bad, but really, Samuel was able to take a lame movie and give it heart. He was able to have one of the most infamous deaths in a movie, resulting from one of the best We Will Survive speeches in history, to being ate by a mother fuckin' shark!

Training Day- Samuel can play the bad or the good guy in any movie, and in this one, he most definatly plays the bad guy. He is the most arrogant man in the world in this film, trying to control his own little world, a world he has currupted single handedly, forcing the good to take him down.

Sorry to tell you TM but Samuel L. Jackson wasn't in Training Day. The actor you're thinking of is Denzel Washington. Still damn good movie nonetheless.

Anyways, my tri-top response for Samuel L. Jackson is as follows:

1. Pulp Fiction- Great movie. As you said TM, Samuel out shined everyone in the movie the way I see it. He pulled off his lines to the T. And everytime he gives that speech in the apartment I get chills down my spine. Oh and "English motherfucker do you speak it?" Favorite movie quote ever.

2. 187 - This movie was basically all Jackson. He carried the movie from start to finish. Basically the movie was about Jackson as a high school teacher who was attacked by a student who was a gang member. After that ordeal he became a substitute teacher where he runs into the same issues again. Quite a powerful story and the ending is quite unexpected.

3. Black Snake Moan - I started watching this movie because nothing else was on at the time. I was only going to watch for about 20 minutes, but that quickly turned into a good 2 hours. This was a great movie overall but again Jackson carried it on his end. I especially enjoyed the scene where he turned Justin Timberlake into a quivering little bitch. Oh and you get to see Christina Ricci naked and act like a nympho, so that's a definite plus.

The thing with Samuel L. Jackson is that you have tons of movies to pick from. I actually had to go to his Wikipedia site just so I could remember which ones I've seen or not. Definitly one of the best actors of our time.

Wow, I must have had a bit of a brain fart there. It was early, I had only a few hours sleep, Ill correct myself.

I'll just go with Jurassic Park. I just watched it recently, and although he only played a minor part, I just love movies where someone gets ate by raptors. Jurassic Park is one of my favourite movies, and Jackson, playing the chain smoking cautious park coordinator is great.

I just love movies where someone gets ate by raptors.

I don't really have anything so say on the subject of Samuel L. Jackson. But that quote was too good to pass up. What are there other movies where people get eaten by Raptors? Don't cheat and say The Lost World & JP3.

#1 Deep Blue Sea - I just love movies where someone gets ate by sharks.

I'll take a break from everyone else who's probably going to say Pulp Fiction, overrated and dated, I'll go Jackie Brown. Tarantino's best film, you'll see, time will tell on that one.

For small roles I'll combine Goodfellas & True Romance. That's my number three. Or maybe Snakes On A Plane. Great because it's knowing shit, unlike most of the dross he puts out.

While I've always enjoyed movies by the mothafucka known as Samuel L. Jackson, my favorites stand out from the rest.

I think his best movie, easily, is Sphere. His character makes the story what it is, and he is at his best portraying him. It's also refreshing to see him in a movie where he's not saying "mothafucka" 50 times, and where he isn't overacting for the joy of it.

The next choice is Star Wars Episode III as Mace Windu. Sure, it wasn't a huge role, but it was important, and he played it well. I never expected to see him in a movie like this, but he made it work. I still don't understand why he was the only one with a purple lightsabre...

S.W.A.T. is my third favorite. The movie is serious, but makes sure to tone it down when possible to give the viewer a chuckle. He plays his part well, and has a great supporting cast. It's one of the few movies that I can watch him in, and forget that he's the same guy from Pulp Fiction.

Two of these are very small roles, but they still count. ;)

3. True Romance - Tremendous movie. Brad Pitt's character in it is one of my favorite characters in the history of cinema. I thought he was hilarious. Anyway, I saw this about four years ago for the first time. And it was a nice surprise to see Samuel L. Jackson at the begginning, because I had no idea he was in it. But of course, he died after only like a minute, but he still counts as being apart of the movie. :)

2. Goodfellas - Again, small role, but definitely a memorable. This was another case of me seeing this for the first time about five years ago, and being completely caught off guard by Samuel L. Jackson's appearence. But his role and death had a much more signicance in this film then it did in True Romance, since it was his ******ed mistakes that ultimately led to everyone getting killed off, lol. But overall, great, great movie and I'm sure Jackson is very proud to have been apart of it.

1. Pulp Fiction - No competition. This is not just my favorite Samuel L. Jackson movie of all time, but it's my favorite movie of all time period. And Jackson's performance had a lot to do with it being that. He was beyond tremendous in this and I'll ALWAYS be a fan of his just because of what he gave us in this picture.

Honorable mention goes to Jackie Brown, Menace II Society and Black Snake Moan. Both films were awesome. Black Snake Moan was actually a lot better then I expected. It was really nice seeing a movie that was nothing like the trailer lead you to believe.
