TNA's Future; What is there to complain about?

Dizzy

Championship Contender
As you look at many forums and sections there is always a group hell bent on finding fault with the company.

Now, with Nash being gone soon, Rhino officially gone, Sting on the verge of being gone, 3D retiring and Angle getting a vacation. That's less "old folks" that everyone loves to say or disrespect.

Matt Hardy is now 100% committed to joining and restarting OMEGA which would mean TNA would have two developmental training schools if it indeed happens. We already know about 2 wrestlers TNA are interested in (via tryout) have signed to 3D's wrestling school.

You all said Hardy's run was horrible. Well, they pulled off a surprise by turning him heel and giving him the title which the majority wanted or said should happen when he did sign. So, he's champion now. A guy who is a proven draw since RVD isn't...Right Madden?

You have Pope, Anderson, Styles, Morgan locked into long term deals. Fortune is getting a real solid push with Hogan, Bischoff being the vintage bias authority. Being managed by Flair carries over as well.

Motor City Machine Guns have been nothing but impressive and great since winning the belts. Tons of credibility there. You guys wanted that for years now.

They've even built a rivalry with a new 'homegrown' tag team. Something you all wanted also. TNA has also seemed to put together a new team with Kiyoshi and 22 year old Okada.

Magnus is still only 23 and charismatic. The whole Desmond Wolfe thing derailed his push however.

Lethal is X-Division champion. TNA is interested in a few AAA wrestlers like Jack Evans, Extreme Tiger, etc.

You all wanted a new established face for the Knockouts besides Love and Velvet. They bring in Mickie James and begin rebuilding the Division.

Dixie doesn't know what she's doing but she signs a guy who is a former WWE Producer and Creative writer with 20 years of experience and has insulted the TNA product harder than anyone.

She also hires a guy who is experienced in marketing from NBC to Sony's Spider man movie franchise. We'll see how that turns out.

More than anything, you guys wanted consistency within storylines and everyone wanted that including me. They pull of "They" which was put in place since June and unfolded well with tons of hints and swerves derailing fans beliefs into who "They" were. Now, it leaves us wanting to watch and find out the whole concept of why which is the main goal. Yet, still people complain because Hogan and Bischoff are apart of it.

So, honestly what the hell is there to complain about? JWow? Everything you guys wanted is unfolding.

I agree... I'm pretty happy with they way things are in TNA as of now...

Hopefully everything works out with the AAA guys because it would be cool to see some talent like that back in the X Division...

Not sure what the purpose of having Robbie E in a feud with Lethal is... He doesn't seem like an X Division guy, but after Williams I guess that doesn't matter...

The whoe Hardy thing was kind of a letdown... I won't say a failure, because I'm interested in what's going to happen and seeing if Hardy can be a good heel... I wish the whole They thing would've been more ground breaking... But with Heyman refusing the offer, I guess they did the best they could...

And to the marks that are always looking for TNA to fail, it sure seems like they are planning for the future with the talks of developmental deals and the possibility of them starting some kind of farm system...

Hopefully the signing of Bruce P. will help keep things rolling...

The problem with TNA's future is a multilayered problem to be completely honest. I will break down IMO what the problem TNA has and will be facing for a long time unless there is a change.

1) Consistency with character personas. How many times have somebody gone from face to heel to face again over the course of 3 months with no explanation what so ever. You can not get talent over when the fan base doesn't know if they are cheering them or booing them.

2)Paying it forward. AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, Pope Diniero all have done big jobs to TNA's current top star base. Unlike the WWE where the young stars of today and tomorrow have gone over the established talent, that for the most part has not happened in TNA.

3)Matt Hardy is NOT the answer. He is 36 years old, at this point with his last year and a half has to be considered a health risk due to the uncertainty of getting his intestine issue under control. Let him start OMEGA up, big deal. Also we are about 4 weeks into the hardy-WWE saga and last time I checked, Hardy has not been released. Don't be surprised if WWE just decides to let him sit out his deal instead of giving him a release to go to TNA.

4)Jeff Hardy vs RVD as the pay off for the "THEY" angle??? So you're gonna have two guys who had to come in from the outside, battle in the top spot of the "biggest angle" in TNA history. Also the guys who want to take over the company are being helped by 4 of the most famous originals in AJ, Abyss, and Beer $$$, explain to me how that makes sense please??? It would work with Abyss as the puppet with Hogan, Bischoff, Hardy, and even JJ, but to have AJ, and Beer $$$ with them does not make sense.

5)The pending veteran exodus that DIZZY was raving about is not always a good thing. If the "young" talent is only going over each other, there is no one to set these guys up as stars. You need the veterans to get the young guys over. While Kevin Nash can be a self serving douche bag, when have Sting, Angle, or 3D not put somebody over on their own call???

I can go on for days and days but Ill stop here. Im not a IWC TNA hater, but I do try to give an honest opinion, so there it is.

I agree. TNA is getting better and better to me. The ratings are improving. Sells are going up. House show attendance is going up. Just the overall exposure of the company is growing. Is it perfect? No. But then again WWE is far from perfect too. But it is definatly a better product right now in my opinion. When I watch TNA I am genuinely entertained. When I watch WWE, i'm bored and I just feel embarrassed to be watching. I'm not 10 years old anymore. Its nice to watch a wrestling show that I can enjoy.

I think you underestimate the IWC's ability to find fault in TNA. You listed numerous things that all show that TNA is headed in the right direction. The old people are slowly being removed, (Kinda odd since smackdown's main event involves a 45 y... ya know what never mind.) and they say they want something surprising and that they want something new and different. So TNA turns Hardy heel which has never been done to this capacity before. As soon as Hardy turns heel you hear "this makes no sense" or "this is stupid". They are hiring new people to try to help market their product through different means. Hell there are going to be TNA stars featured on bags of Tom's potato chips. They just got an endorsement deal with one of the largest makers of America's favorite snack. I guess that was a dumb move somehow too. Honestly if there is any problem with TNA at all, it is their lack of advertisement. TNA could build a time machine, put Stone Cold and The Rock in it, and take them back to their primes, than hire them as main eventers and no one would watch it. You know why? Because no one outside of the wrestling diehards know what the fuck TNA is. I know this seems surprising to us wrestling fans but its true. Go watch some RVD or Jeff Hardy videos on youtube and than read the comments under them. A large number of the comments are "I miss Jeff Hardy. I wish he would wrestle again." or "I stopped watching because RVD quit." And these aren't comments from 2 years ago. These are comments made within the last few weeks or months. Hell I was watching an episode of impact at my step mom's house. Now she isn't a huge wrestling fan, but she does occasionally watch it. I was like "Hey look its the greatest wrestler in the world." referring to AJ Styles. Her response was "Never heard of him". So if people want to bitch about the direction that TNA is headed, I would say the advertising and promoting should be there targets, not the product itself. Some people have a hard time grasping that not everyone's vision of professional wrestling involves a laptop as an authority figure or limo explosions or a washed up former stroke patient winning the United States title.

Indeed! I see alot of posters on the forums complain about TNA's storylines being very inconsistent since Hogan and Bischoff took over, and I think they couldn't be more wrong.

When TNA Impact first started airing on Spike their storylines seemed like they changed every week. I couldn't stay interested in the show but I still tried to watch because I was hoping something would change for the better. With people talkinig about TNA wrestlers changing between Face and Heel all the time since Hogan and Bischoff have been here, what about all the times Angle and Christian Cage turned from 2005-2009? You even had AJ Styles and Tomko switching between Angle Alliance and Christian's Coaltion what seemed to be weekly.

Anyway I think TNA has done a great job of being consistent with their storylines over the past few months. The "They" storyline has to be one of the most interesting ones this year. If if your not a fan of who "They" are you have to admit it peaked your interest. I like how they took 3 Huge feuds meaning Abyss vs RVD, Sting,Nash,Pope vs Double J and Joe, and Hardy, Angle, Anderson and turned had it all finish into One Huge Story at the end of the BFG PPV.

On to the J-Woww thing. TNA has been getting soo much publicity this week from hiring J-Woww for 5 minutes on Impact? Nothing bad about that. I read earlier that TNA has made the cover story for Entertainment Weekly magazine. Obviously that $15,000 was a smart investment.

ok sorry if this is spam do u guys honestly think that they would have givin hardy the belt if he was going to jail?

I will really find something to complain about if they continue with the pattern they are on tonight...

45 minutes of Impact and not one match... That has to be some kind of record... And not in a good way...

They seem to be leaning too much on reaction. I mean RVD vs Anderson started at 11:00, and carried into reaction. 45 minutes and not one match is insane. As long as some of Raw's opening segments can go, I dont recall it being 9:47 and not one match. It seems they will leave segments unfinished on impact for the sake of reaction. As open minded as I want to be, I cant lie I am not sold on "THEY" carrying out to where they are planning for it to go.

the first Impact after one of the biggest PPV in TNA history. the heel turn at the PPV was HUGE!! you had to expect there were going to be A LOT of focusing on that during tonight's Impact.
i Loved Impact tonight. despite not much wrestling, it was full of excitement.

Tonights Impact really did help solidify my thoughts that they are starting in a good direction, and the long opening didnt bother me as it did some on here. Coming off a big PPV and with the swerve and heel turns it had to take place to set everything straight. People would be on here bitching if TNA started with just some match without any PPV followup so either way not everyones gonna be happy.

But yeah with alot of the older talent looking to take a backseat and step away things could get interesting. Right now I am intrigued by alot of TNA and its direction, which is good becuase it makes viewers want to continue to watch.

Hardy's heel persona tonight was well done and could be good. The Immortals faction aligning with Fortune is interesting and good to see that they arent taking a backseat. It almost reminds me of the Attitude era with the Corporation and Ministry as two seperate heel factions that aligned to take out Austin. With that said tonights I saw the first glimpse of Anderson's simliarities to Austin that people have been noting for the last few years, as well as Pope vs Fortune brought back memories of Rock vs Corporation days...all in a good way. If they keep up with the heel factions against Joe, RVD, Pope, Angle and maybe throw in a few midcarders things can be very interesting moving forward.
