The title says it all. The 'ICON' of TNA, Sting takes on your reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Rob...Van...DAM!

Sting's been on a tear lately with his new attitude and his bitterness toward TNA. Rob Van Dam's taken TNA by storm and has quickly become the face of Total Nonstop Action wrestling. Can RVD beat one of the greatest wrestlers in our generation? Will Sting show us why he is still the ICON of TNA? Will RVD be high during the match?

Talk about it here. NO SPAM!

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this match. It's no secret that Sting isn't getting any younger, but he's still got some good matches in him. This is one of those dream matches imo. It'd be nice to see a long match with a five star frog splash finish!
If TNA is smart they will keep the belt on RVD for a good amount of time. He's still the whole F'n show.

I think this match would have been better if it was shown 2 months ago after RVD's debut when Sting attacked him. I'm sure it will still work now since RVD is the most over face in the Impact Zone and Sting is the most over heel. I don't know why Sting deserves another title shot, but it should be an interesting match if Sting is healthy enough to go.

I think RVD will retain here unless someone causes RVD the title. I think we can pretty much bet on Hogan getting involved one way or another. I just hope we don't see a Hogan vs. Sting match next month since Hogan is in such bad shape to wrestle. God forbid Sting wins the title only to lose it to Hogan next month. I just hope RVD retains and faces a younger star next month such as Joe, Wolfe, or Morgan.

RVD's retaining if TNA is smart. Charlie Sheen once said "Life comes down to a few choices, this is one of them." Indeed, putting the belt on RVD was quite possibly the best decision TNA has made since, well since putting the title on the previous holder AJ Styles. Since the title change, I have felt that TNA is getting more and more entertaining. I'm drawn to TNA simply cause of the fact RVD has the title. If they were smart keep the title on the guy that's drawing more and more people to your company. RVD's still the Whole F'n Show.

I just can't see Sting winning the title. He don't have an amazing amount of momentum going into this match other than his feud with Jarrett. Not to mention he's hella old.

Nonetheless, I'm betting this is gonna be a great match. But RVD retains. Heck yes.

I will be looking forward to this match, I have got a funny feeling we're gonna get someone interfering, i mena that's what TNA is all about...this match, i can see ending in disqualification... So RVD retaining his title...

Just off topic here, isn't this the ppv were we see the king of the mountain match??

I personally am sick to death of sting and rvd its not a match i want to see. I do think rvd will come out on top though. Although saying that tna will probably do something stupid and the title will end up on someone else that night.

As much as I would like to see Sting come out on top in this one I am sure that RVD will retain the belt here. As Kenny Powers stated it would have been better if they had built this feud up properly from 2 months ago when RVD debuted and Sting beat the crap out of him. Main reason I wanna see this match is coz even though Sting is getting on in years, he can still match it with the best in the business today. If there is interference from the outside in this match then it will make RVD look like a weak champion and won't help benefit the company in any way shape or form.

To everyone that keeps bringing up Stings age shut it! Plain and simple. Sting may be getting up there in years but he's better than most of the WWE and TNA roster put together. Sorry I know this is a TNA thread but had to make a cross company comparison to show how awesome Sting is.

I'm going to go a different direction on this one.... Although I do personally think RVD will win. I also think if Sting wins it could be interesting.

Let's look at the possibilities of this...

NO INTERFERENCE IS A MUST FOR THIS TO WORK:
RVD wins, he goes on as a solid (I know he's already solid...but there's just something about beating an ICON that elevates you just a bit higher) champion. I see him holding onto it for some time. Next up would then either be Angle vs RVD or RVD vs AJ Styles IMO. If there is any sort of outside interference then RVD (as synner said) would look weak. If TNA hopes to elevate RVD (not that he needs it) as THE man to beat in TNA he has to go over cleanly on Sting. That means NO Hogan, Flair, AJ or anyone getting involved.

Of course TNA could also do this...

Sting wins by cheating (holding the ropes, tights, using his bat behind the refs back etc etc etc) and from there we DON'T see Hogan vs. Sting we see RVD continuing to try and regain his title but Sting denies RVD, thus furthering him as the incredible heel he continues to be. This would then allow for an awesome PPV headliner match up. Imagine this... Kurt Angle vs. RVD for the #1 contenders spot to Sting's title belt. RVD could then go over on Angle and then going on to cleanly defeat Sting in their "3rd" match. I don't consider their first encounter a real match BUT in the record books it is. RVD then goes over cleanly on Sting, their feud ends and from there maybe an Angle/RVD feud picks up or AJ/RVD go at it one more time. Just trying to think outside the box :)

I fully expect RVD to pick up the win here. Sting will probably go apeshit at some point in this match. He will use his baseball bat to take out his frustrations on RVD, and who ever else tries to help him. I like both of these guys, but I'm not expecting a great or good match here. The ending of match will help further the storyline going on with Sting, and we might see a special guest appearance by Hulk Hogan.

RVD will hold on to the world title for a little while longer, and there should be lots of mayhem the end of this one.

RVD will retain here, but only by DQ. No way there's a clean finish to this match. Sting's being built as a psychopath on a tear in TNA, and to cleanly job him to RVD would damage everything they've built up to. And why they're doing this with Sting is beyond me. I can't take him seriously in an oversided Sting T-Shirt that hides his stomach.

One thing WCW done right during it's time was building Sting into someone so mysterious and awesome, that even if he was a darker character, he was so over because he rarely showed his face. And when he came down, it was on like Donkey Kong with the NWO.

I see RVD retaining here, but by DQ after Sting snaps and thumps him with the baseball bat. This may also build up to a nice feud with Sting and Hardy. Because Hardy mimicks Sting from back in the day.

RVD keeps it here but it's going to continue for one reason: there are no other big time heels on the roster. Anderson is apparently turning face and AJ vs. RVD has been done. Who does this leave for RVD to fight? Wolfe? That's laughable at best. Right now there just isn't anyone with credibility as a heel to fight RVD so Sting will get the next two PPVs. Sting vs. RVD was a big match...2 months ago. That's TNA for you though: do something then wait forever to capitalize on it. Also, Sting getting the title shot because he's number one on a list is just weak but whatever. Should be fine as Sting can still go buyt I'm not psyched on this at all.

I can't wait for this match! I'm very excited. Sting is one of the most respected legends ever and RVD is the most exciting right now. It's really a dream match.

RVD has gotta retain here. I don't think he will win cleanly tho, some type of run in or swerve. Otherwise he never gets revenge for the attack Sting did to him when he debuted, and it would seriously hurt his push, whereas it won't matter with a dusty finish for Sting to lose with.

I voted Sting for the win. Why? Because it's TNA. Here's how it all plays out: Sting takes the title and his feud with Hogan heats up. This leads to Hulkamania running wild one last time when at the next ppv the Hulkster takes the title from the Icon. Then Hogan's other feud with Flar reignites. WOOOOOOOOOO!!! With a little help from his cast of miscreants, the Nature Boy takes the title at the following ppv...

Hmmmm I was actually joking but can you imagine the credibility the TNA Championship would gain with these legends as former title holders? Eh, worse things can happen.

Likely to be a typically boring RVD match against Sting who has just seemed to have lost his fire.

I expect this to be very formulaic. RVD will start well, Sting will dominate. RVD wont tap and will kick out of the Death drop and then a frog splash for the win.

RVD needs and deserves more than this. An interesting heel would be a start but the booking of his potential opponents is doing him no favours.

As we have no explaination for the heel turn and we are unlikely to get it here, this will either continue until a reason is given or it will be forgotten.

As always I save my thoughts on the world title match for last. This could be the match of the night. RVD's reign has been good so far and I hope it continues. Sting doesn't need another world title win at the moment and if RVD defeats him then it will make his title reign all the more impressive. I'm not expecting anything epic, but still a good match out of the two. Sting will dominate at first but then RVD will get the win because he MUST win here if he's going to have a world title reign as good as he claims it will be.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
RVD will retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
