TNA Slammiversary 2010 LD isn't buying the hype

I'll confess to being mildly unsure why anyone who's a fan if the indy scene seems to be all over him; I've never really seen him playing a serious character long enough to comment. For a X-Division guy he's a reasonable talker and his ring work is nothing but solid... don't really know where the hype come from though.
Trust me, he's nothing special on the indies either. Although he's worked longer matches there than he has in TNA. And we know how much smarks love them main event length matches. They love long matches long time.

So the BIG SURPRISE isn't tonight but rather over the coming weeks.

Sounds like someone is backing down.

Not really; her original comments rather point to that being the case; hence the dirt sheets (Torch at least) reporting on how the two were likely to be separate before she posted the clarification.

I don't know. Given what I can read from Dixie's comments, it sounds like it's simply going to be a change in the way the TV show is structured. Possibly they're going to take that joke PR nonsense they got sent to heart and offer a more in ring product. I hope not.

I'm thinking they might announce that they are taking Impact on the road at least sometimes. That would certainly "change TNA forever".

Well the one thing that keeps me intrigued is No Surrender 06. They announce Impact goes 2 hours, then the lights dim. Cut to a video on the screen:

"Oh it's real. It's DAMN real." End of show.

I wasn't watching at the time; did the dirt-sheets really not get that one in advance?

I would take this as a great thing. But it's still to big for whats referenced as the surprise tonight.

No no, this is the major game changer that will come in the coming weeks. The surprise tonight I'm guessing is a former WWE guy debuting. It was said that there are 2 different things Dixie has referenced. I believe the game changer might be what I have mentioned and tonight's "surprise" will be a debut that probably will leave us a little underwhelmed.

Just seems odd that after really REALLY implying the major surprise would be tonight she's making it clear that one is coming. And saying it just in time for most to not hear it and have already bought the show. What a COINCIDENCE!

Ah, then I'm inclined to agree. Especially on the underwhelming debut.

I'm thinking Helms or something like that. Someone that's never really meant much of a damn thing but people will see them and say HOLY SHIT THEY SIGNED HIM!

*a month passes*

Holy shit....they signed him?

As what point did she imply this? The only time she referenced Slammiversary was when she said that there would be a "nice little surprise" that night. That doesn't sound like massive hype to me.

Not that I care if she does have the sinister motives you want to imply; good for her if it works.

That's who I was thinking, but maybe someone else (Dreamer?), but I didn't want to predict for fear that someone would want to castrate me for even saying a name, putting it in their head that one of 3 remotely nameworthy free agents could debut, and thus "ruining" the surprise.

Probably. There's a fair few names going around who could potentially show up. I havn't been keeping up with individual no-competes, but if I were to take a wild guess I'd say Mickie James. I'm crossing my fingers for Foley to show up though.

She says she's got a nice surprise for Slammiversary.

She says the surprise/change will change TNA forever.

She says she's fired up beyond belief.

She says more of the same.

She says there are two separate surprises.

Nothing that was a lie mind you. Just misleading and the clarification comes out on the day of the show. Just a bit underhanded and misleading to me. Can't say I would have done it any other way.

8 minutes till kick-off.

I really hope the little surprise tonight isn't Tommy Dreamer. His match with Moxley at Mercury Rising wasn't good at all.

Unless of course he's taking a behind the scenes role, in which he's more then welcome.

Dreamer wouldn't surprise me. He's a name that has never been a serious contender other than in a glorified indy company.
