TNA drops the ball again.

This match was some kind of amazing for the most part however the last 5 minutes or so before the first match stopping seemed like such a stall tactic with the repeated ankle locks, then afterwards how come bischoff doesn't just waive the time limit for the remainder of the match? There are times that you can judge both the match content and the match ending 2 different ways and TNA allows us to do that with this match. As for whether or not this could be repeated in a non-title environment at BFG I think it could be possible. HBK/Angle had just as good a back and forth fued that started at WM 21 and continued for what I believe was 2 great matches, I'm sure Jeff/Angle could follow suit for a shorter period of time. The only thing I wonder about is if TNA was actually trying to duplicate the imagery of Bret/Austin from WM 13 if it was intentional then IDK if it was coy or desperate.

You guys should read the Busted Open Facebook page...The whold PPV was great...also Sirius 125 every Monday and Wednesday at 2pm Eastern Time...Busted Open wrestling Talk...Damn it the show was great.

Personally, I hope Hardy forfeits out of the tournament because of injury and it's Anderson vs. Angle.

If Hardy bows out of the tournament don't you think that dampens the momentum Angle would have coming out of what some may say could be one of the best matches of the year? If anything if hardy is included in the BFG main event then he plays the role of the wounded man and gains the best crowd sympathy and maybe is the one to end angle's career if the stip still goes that every match is a "career threatening match" for kurt.

Yeah in which case I'll be sick to my stomach. Hardy can put on good match after good match but until he is off the drugs and out of his legal troubles, he shouldn't be given a shot at the company's highest prize. And no, it wouldn't dampen the momentum because Anderson/Angle already have emotions left to be rehashed and the fans will DEFIANTLY buy into it way quicker then some random triple threat match. Anderson vs. Angle is the kind of match TNA needs to headline their biggest PPV.

This is downloading as we speak, which is a step more than I take for most TNA PPV's. (Seriously- they have trouble convincing me to watch their weekly show, I'm nowhere near committed enough to the product to actually send them money, as those of you who read my posts *might* have noticed.) This seems to be TNA's story; they're capable of delivering an excellent single night of wrestling, but not really good at convincing people over the course of 4-6 weeks to BUY that single night. If there was any way that TNA "dropped the ball", it was this. Watching Impact made me feel like this was just going to be another night of TNA stories with awkward, stilted buildups and unsatisfying payoffs.

As it is, I'm eager to see Angle/Hardy. I've always been of the opinion that Jeff Hardy can't deliver a good match without having to use a ladder, a bigger ladder, and several tables. (Angle, I've seen too many good matches from him.) I wonder about the placement of Pope/Anderson as the headliner; Angle/Hardy definitely feels like the natural main event, especially with the delivery. (This isn't UFC- you have a pretty decent idea which fights are your best and biggest before you go on air.)

For a change I'm actually eager to watch TNA programming; more people than the usual suspects are hyping this PPV.

Edit: Afterthought- I really hope this match ending to a cut doesn't come off cheesy. It's a way to end a match indecisively without resorting to the old double-countout canard or forcing someone to do a run-in and get involved plot wise, but at the same time, The Great Muta spits at his television.

Ok first thing they put on an awesome match, second thing the match couldnt have been saved for BFG because it was already being promoted before the whole title being vacated situation and last, given the finish they had to put it on second to last because who ends a ppv with a no contest finish

The match couldn't go on last for a couple reasons.

1. How pissed would everyone be if that finish ended the PPV?

2. It now will most likely set up a 3 way at BFG

Now I liked the ending because it was like an MMA styles ending. It added realism to the match.

I really think TNA dropped the ball. Beside that, I thought the new World Champion was suppose to be crowned tonight? Does that mean Kurt Angle retires because he did not defeat Jeff Hardy, no because the match ended with a no contest. Why would you put all of EV 2.0 in a PPV and not let them win a match. Generation ME gets a Tag Title match because of Visa Problems. This is not the first time that has happen to TNA. Stop booking wrestlers from out of the country as Champions or Main Eventers. TNA drops the balls in so many ways.

Obviously something big is planned for BFG and Angel vs Hardy happened at No Surrender and not BFG, for storyline reasons. Whether the World title match is one on one or a three way, there is a reason Hardy vs Angle happened now and not at BFG. Also, Mr Anderson and Angle had a great match at lockdown and I might be wrong but it didn't involve people kicking out of 3 consecutive finishers (also consider finishers like a Swanton bomb to the floor outside the ring.)

Point being, Hardy or Anderson can both put on great matches with Kurt. Either way, what really matters is storyline. I can guarantee you, people will not be discussing how well matches went after BFG, as much as they will be discussing storylines/angles that occured during it. This is all a build up too 10/10/10 and you have to believe everything will be revealed after the WHC match.

I'm not one to normally defend TNA. In fact I think this is the first time I have. But you my friend, are the WZ equivalent of Ralph Wiggum. This was the first time I watched a TNA PPV start to finish, and I was pleasantly surprised. I agree with Angle/Hardy not being the Main Event, and I'll touch on that in a second. I felt the whole show was done well, they cut the promo time down quite a bit, and we didn't have the awkward Dixie/Flair thing I have seen on impact for a few weeks now. (IMO that's just a little too weird..)

I've been very vocal of my disapproval of Jeff Hardy, as far back as his first TNA run, but I can honestly say I have not enjoyed a match of his the way I did tonight since that ladder match with 'Taker all those many years ago. Kurt is one of those guys who can really make the other guy look great in the ring almost 80% of the time, if not more. As a die hard WWE fan, I can say that this PPV topped SummerSlam by far. I do agree with not having Jeff in the main event at BFG though, on account of the legal issue he's facing. Wait till that clears before you get him in any heated stories. Angle/Anderson would be a great main event for it.

The world champion isn't supposed to be crowned until Bound For Glory. Tonight was the semi finals of the tournament and at BFG the finals will be held. EV 2 didn't win because Fourtune needed the wins more to become a more credible group. Why would the old EV 2 guys beat the young guys when most of the EV 2 members are scarce and not over?

Stop booking wrestlers from out of the country as champions or main eventers? No one in the main event was from out of country. Visa problems happen all the time, but the reason Wolfe and Magnus didn't show was because of personal problems. Whatever that is. Williams showed up so that just proves that you can book someone who lives in another country to a PPV. A lot of people from TNA and WWE live out of the country. So Sheamus shouldn't be booked in a WWE main event if he lives out of country either right?

I don't know how TNA dropped the ball considering the Angle vs. Hardy match was one of the best matches TNA has shown in months. I wasn't a fan of the finish, but it should be interesting to see how it develops. I'm not a fan of triple threat matches, but Hardy vs. Angle vs. Mr. Anderson sounds intriguing. The Pope vs. Mr. Anderson wasn't a bad match either. At least the finish of the Angle and Hardy match is leaving people talking instead of saying "Oh I knew Angle would win anyway."

Anderson, Angle, Hardy.....Sounds like a great Main Event to me. Stop bitching, TNA continues to put on great matches and BFG will be good for fans that like WRESTLING, not sports entertainment.

Yes i agree it should of been saved until then so the results wouldnt of been so obvious and the only person out of those 3 gooses that could take out angle is Hardy.

The problem was the ending. But, Eric Bischoff had just said in an interview that controversy was about to begin to take place, planting the seed for something down the line.

Which could be something to do with a Triple Threat or Four Way Match at Bound For Glory for The TNA World Title. Right now Anderson is the only guy in, so if only one of the other 3 get into the match, the left over 2 would have nothing to do. Especially if it was Pope and Hardy, because they don't really have beef with each other. It's supposed to be TNA's biggest show of the year, so surely they would want all 4 of these guys playing an integral part in their big moment.

As far the Hardy/Angle No Surrender Match in itself... I actually thought it was the best Jeff Hardy has looked in a long time. Definitely the best he's looked in his return to TNA so far. Some pretty good spots went down in the match. Hardy's Swanton to the outside from the top rope was pretty epic.

I think they went a little overboard with all the times they kicked out of finishers. But that seemed to be the theme of the night as a whole. Even Abyss and Rhino were doing it. LOL

I posted this on another thread but I think the only thing they did wrong was put this match second to last. The other thing that sucks but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt is that they have to wait two weeks to resolve what the hell is going to happen pertaining to those two for BFG.

Other than that I'm ok with the ending because it allowed Kurt to not lose and also throws people off thinking that he was automatically going to win because of their stupid booking decision to do the "lose and he retires" angle (no pun intended)

If you were looking at purely name value, Kurt Angle V Jeff Hardy should have been the main event, ahead of Anderson v Pope.

BUT, if TNA are serious about putting the belt on Anderson, then its only logical that he goes on last to put the thought in fans minds that he is "The Man" or he "Top Guy".

I personally think Angle will come out with the title at the end of this tournament, but if TNA choose Anderson to go over, they did the right thing putting his match on last at this PPV, to establish him as a legitimate main eventer in fans eyes, and a guy capable of headlining a PPV.

It is not TNA's fault that the match failed to live up to expectations, blame that on Pope and Anderson themselves, but then again....they were following the best wrestler in the world in Kurt Angle

TNA didn't drop the ball in any way.

Sure, they could have saved Hardy v Angle for Bound for Glory. But instead, they had it on this PPV, people are talking about how great it was, there was no definitive winner, and they have the opportunity to tease a rematch for BFG.
If anything they picked up the ball, faked, did a sweet capoeira move and are running for a touch down.

Will they score?

The more people talk about the match that just happened, the more people will throw their hard earned pizza money at the TV to find out at BFG.

After seeing how everthing played out, and how the matches finished, I would've had Anderson vs Pope go on last instead of Hardy vs Angle as well.

If they would have had Angle vs Hardy go on last, with the finish they went with, it would have sent the fans there and at home confused and some unhappy by that decision...and tons of bitch by IWC about how it's dumb to end a ppv like that.

Anderson had his crowd participation at the end, and sent fan home happy. Yes, Hardy vs Angle was a better match then Pope vs Anderson, but they made the right choice(in my opinion) with which match closed the show. Plus, when it comes to PPVs, Angle usually has match of the night...that guys is amazing.

I didn't say they dropped the ball on not putting Angle and Hardy at BFG, I said that they should've put them at the main event, their star power exceeds any other two wrestlers in TNA and it should've been expected that their match was going to involve more emotions than the other semi final.

While the matches WERE advertised as a "Double main event," I do understand what you mean by having the match go on last. So, try swapping the matches. You get the second-to-last match being a decisive win for Anderson over Elijah Dinero. In the main event, you get that great match, but the LAST moment of the pay-per-view is the no-contest ending. On top of the fact that we won't get any closure from these events until the 16th, 11 fucking days from now (...Well, then that is) the finish would have seemed even more insulting.

I personally was livid at first with how the match ended. There have been much, much worse cuts in matches that weren't labeled with a gimmick (Hardcore, No DQ, I Quit, etc) that weren't stopped, and this just seemed like Breakfast Machine (overly complicated) booking. That Pope v Anderson match gave me time to decompress, and I accepted how that match went. If Angle/Hardy was the last match, I'd probably still be steaming.

I didn't see the ppv but everyone has been raving about this particular match. I'm not surprised it was good but I was surprised to see that it was as good as it was. From what I've read and from the overall descriptions of the match in and of itself, it sounds like the best TNA match of the year. It might've been somewhat overbooked with all the stoppage, but that could actually have added a lot to the match overall.

As for TNA dropping the ball, well I think that's an overdramitization. I do think the match should have closed the show because Pope and Anderson just wouldn't be able to follow this. If a triple threat match at BFG is where TNA is ultimately going, then they need to spend the next month hyping the shit out of it. There was virtually no buzz or excitement for the Angle/Hardy match in general and that's definitely a creative screw up. Put all the Fortune/EV2.0 shit on the backburner and make this the primary focus for BFG.

I don't have any issues with this match being on No Surrender instead of BFG, you could find a lot better people for Kurt Angle to fight at BFG besides Jeff Hardy (even though a Hardy vs. Angle match at BFG is totally possible seeing how their match ended in a no contest). I wouldn't be surprised if Angle beats Hardy first then Anderson later to win the TNA title at BFG now the Anderson is in the finals and I don't really think they'll end the tournament like that.

I also don't mind how the match ended as its nice to see something different once in a while, I don't even remember the last time a match ended because of excessive blood loss. Endings like that can be good as long as they aren't done often. Sure it doesn't give a clear, cut winner, but it doesn't hurt either guy and its not a BS cheap victory. Personally I would like to see endings like this thrown in once in a while, it keeps the fans guessing.

to wrestlingfan2.... your fucking idiotic post shows how much of a "fan" you are, how can you even call yourself a fan when a match like that is put on and you respond with.... dropped the ball??? dropped the fucking ball?!?!?! a match that may very well be match of the year and they dropped the ball? FAIL

(to answer the question... NO, they failed in no way, that would be all you)

Not only did TNA drop the ball with that match, they also stuck a big middle finger to everyone who bought the PPV. Instead of having the match of the year end with a decent finish, they do the ole Russo Gimmick crap. Since when do you put a 20min time limit on a PPV with very few matches, and plenty of time left in the show? Now we're going to get a rematch on Impact for free which prolly won't be half as good, or a 3 way dance at BFG. I have to wonder if the bookers even review how the matches go, and ask themselves, do we really want to have it this way?
