Occasional Pre-Show
With the launch of the WWE Network, WWE is supposedly entering a new era in programming. That usually means out with the old and in with the new. Looking back over what we've seen these last few years, I thought I'd list some things on WWE programming that I personally think need to go or change before the end of the year.
* General Mangers of Raw and SmackDown
The brand split has been over for years, and outside of the IC and US titles, there isn't even separate pairs of championships for each division anymore. What's the point of having a GM for the two shows? I have no clue. Besides, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have positioned themselves in the last year as the actual authority of every WWE show anyhow. Vickie Guerrero as GM is a role that's been played out even more than Theodore Long, and she needs to go back to being like Paul Heyman as a mouthpiece manager of a heel Superstar. As for Brad Maddox, it's simple. He's a wrestler. He knows how to wrestle. Put his butt in the ring and call it a day.
*The Raw Rebound on other WWE Shows
We already have to suffer through the "moments ago" recaps every time we get back from a commercial break on Raw. I honestly think they take up at least half an hour of the show itself. With the use of the Internet, DVR, and now the launch of the Network, do we REALLY NEED to see Rebounds on SmackDown, Main Event, Superstars, AND NXT? No. Because let's face it, if you don't know what happened on Raw 48 hours later, you don't care that much in the first place.
*Promoting the WWE App
When Michael Cole told the viewers watching Old School Raw last week to catch up on Jerry Lawler's health condition on the WWE App, to me that was the moment the already overrated social media BS jumped the shark. They've been hyping this thing for 2 years now, and in that 2 years, we haven't really seen an increase in viewership. That means the same people have been hearing about the App for 2 years. If WWE is that desperate to get people to download it, it means the audience doesn't care about it. Keep it around, but for God's sakes, stop plugging it.
These are just a few of the things off the top of my head, and my own opinion anyways. Feel free to add your own.
