What I'd like is a rule installed that a person's vote is ineligible unless they make a post to support their choice - that could really make early rounds interesting.

Possibly, but when you're talking about 64 replies required for the first round alone. Members would have to pick and choose their fights, shocks could become a possibility when you can't just drop a vote and move on. Plus, everyone having to make a case could result in some... interesting, shall we say... developments were someone makes a supporting comment that actually hurts that case.

Unfortunately, the way wrestling has gone, there would be a handful of wrestlers completely immune to this though.
Hogan, Rock, Austin, Cena would never, ever get eliminated in the first round unless by some stroke of luck they face each other in the first round.
Can you imagine a Hogan vs. Austin first round?

Have to leave a comment if red repping though. It's likely he's repping everyone that votes rocky. I'm sure once of news of that gets out we'll see a massive turn in his favour.
