The WWE lockerroom is Mr. McMahon & DX's playground

I agree with the post that said that Sheamus & Drew are getting pushed mainly due to the fact that they bust their ass and are in it for the company. Like the poster said if they didn't train alot, eat well, make themselves the best they could be do you really think guys like Hunter & Shawn would like them and give them the thumbs up? Hell no. If they ate like shit and didn't bother training and rested on their past (Carlito & Shelton I'm looking at you) then Hunter & Shawn wouldn't give two shits about them and wouldn't care but they don't. Like said before Hunter sees Sheamus in the gym busting his ass (and I've met him before and the guy is just freaking massive!) and they see Drew who deuted before and has went back and trained and gotten better and now showds up as a totally different person why shouldn't they take notice. YOu bust your ass at a job then you should be agknowldged and rewarded right? Why is the wrestling buisness so different? I can't speak for them but whose to say internet darlings like Ziggler or Bourne or Morrison work as hard? For all we know they could be coming to the arena eating candy bars and playing video games all day.

Normally I would agree with you that being buddy buddy with HHH and Shawn would get you the massive push just because of their "stroke" behind the scenes. I would also normally agree that this is bullshit, as nobody should get preferential treatment.
However, 3 people have changed my mind. Can you guess?
1.Brock Lesnar
2. Bobby Lashley
3.Jeff Hardy

Lesnar was given the world on a silver platter. He had the best mouthpiece in the business behind him(Paul Heyman), had a great look, could actually wrestle, and had the body Vince likes. They pushed him as the next big thing, put the title on him, let him and Kurt go and have a fucking amazing match and then he got bored and wanted out. We were left with Lesnar vs Goldberg infront of a smart crowd that knew both were leaving and gave them what they deserved.
Bobby Lashley came in with a Lesnar look as well, not a great technical background but was pretty solid and was very marketable and likeable. Pushed him to the ECW title, then brought him up and he was a main guy on the big shows til he wanted to go to MMA and got his release.
Jeff Hardy doesn't have the look Vince likes, so he had to work his ass off which he sure did. He got suspended, left for TNA, came back and paid dues and got a push. Then he gets suspended AGAIN for drugs, leaves with the understanding he will come back by summer(verbal commitment has been talked about numerous times) and screws Vince over for TNA where he won't have to work as much and absolutely no drug testing.
Vince learned his lesson from the Ulimate Warrior and he won't push someone to the moon without them proving that they will be loyal and work within the company. HHH and Shawn can vouch for Sheamus/McIntyre and that is why they are being pushed up the ladder. JoMo is getting recognition now because he came up from Tough Enough. Would you turn your multimillion dollar a year company over to a group of guys that might bolt when the work gets to hard in a few years or would you give it to guys like Cena/Orton/Sheamus/McIntyre/Morrison that have proven they can handle the pressure or have proven to the top guys currently that they have the goods to carry on the legacy? pretty easy decision if you ask me.

I agree with everything he said. This hit the nail on the head, and I would like to expand on it a bit.

Professional wrestling is about making people care about you. Can you deny that Sheamus has done so? He gets as much heat as any heel on the show. Sure, HHH and Cena put him over, but they've built guys up to flop before. Sheamus was given an opportunity, and did a great things with it.

McIntyre is having to pay some dues now, but he didn't do a bad job. I think less people detest him in the way that they do Sheamus, but nonetheless, he built a following.

So what if they are friends with people at the top? They did well when given the opportunity. HHH and HBK, at this point in their careers, are probably incredible talent scouts. They know what it takes as much as anyone. Oddly enough, if they were booking, I think they would be better than the current team. If I were Vince, I would trust their opinions on one's talent and potential to get over.

after just watching the Matt Hardy video he posted online, I want to add to what a few posters have said. I think Matt Hardy has had multiple chances to get himself a main event slot in the WWE. I honestly believe Vince likes him, as evidenced by the fact that he was given a mentor role on NXT. You don't give that to someone you don't like and don't trust. I think he would be higher up the ladder if he kept his OUT OF THE RING work ethic up. Look how much weight he has put on in the last few years. His video basically said he is gonna work harder then ever in the gym, reinvent his moveset, and become a bigger star then ever. I say good for him, because if he can become some more than "jeff hardy's brother" I think Vince will be happy to push him.

It can be summed up by John Cena's catch phrase. You want some? Come get some. Those who bust their ass in the ring, show dedication to improving their skills, take the time to learn the business, generally get rewarded. Professional wrestling is as much a "take the bull by the horns" business as I can imagine. Essentially, if you are willing to do the work necessary, someone will notice. If you content yourself with your current abilities, you won't rise to the top. I think too many wrestlers simply assume that their spots will be given to them, rather than having to take those spots for themselves.

Shelton Benjamin might not seem like he's putting a full effort because the WWE keeps screwing him over, for godsake now this guy's technical ability and athleticism are ridiculous. He's been getting the short end of the stick for years now, to see him lose interest is only natural, can you blame him?
In fairness, Shelton Benjamin is also where heat goes to die.

Who are you to question some of the best minds in the industry? Vince made pro wrestling what it is today. He gave it new life when it was on its death bed so he must know something about the business. He's at least smart enough to surround himself with guys who do know the business, like HBK and HHH. Stop acting like the Kliq has some Rasputin-like mind control over Vince. Vince is a smart business man and is obviously no stranger to wrestling. He grew up as the son of the biggest regional promoter ever. He himself grew up to be the largest wrestling promoter in the world. You dont get to the top by being gullible without any business savvy. Do you honestly think that HBK and HHH were the first guys to pitch their ideas to Vince? If the ideas they were pitching werent good for business, Vince wouldnt have done it. He's not stupid. He also knows that HHH and HBK arent selfish and they will put guys over that work for it. They will drop the belt or carry it, depending on whats best for the company. They put the company before themselves and have proven as much to Vince time and time again. Yeah HHH married the boss's daughter, but they didnt even start to date until well after HHH had established himself as a main event guy. Dont discredit the hard work of HHH and HBK just because Vince likes them and respects their opinion. They have certainly earned the right to pitch things to Vince. And just because they can pitch things to him, doesnt mean that he has to do what they tell him. Vince always does what HE thinks is best for business whether the idea originated with him or someone else and he only surrounds himself with like-minded people, people that are dedicated to making the product the best it can possibly be. HHH and HBK are that dedicated and they know what to look for when it comes to who has potential and who doesnt. Just because you dont like Sheamus, etc doesnt mean that they dont have the potential to be part of the future of this business. Try having just a little bit of faith in the wrestling minds that made this business what it is today.

I would be willing to bet that the Undertaker has at least if not more sway in the lockerroom than either HHH or HBK. But, he is conveniently ignored by the HHH bashers, because when you point that out, it kind of kills their argument about how HHH runs the show.
