The Wwe, it's videogames,and blood

punk is gold

Occasional Pre-Show
I was just wondering if anyone else thought it was hypocritical of the Wwe to ban blood from all their programming(for the kid's benefits) yet they still have it in their videogames, and you have to know that the kids are either playing the games themselves or watching others do it, but what are your thoughts on the matter.

I'm pretty sure they banned the blood after the latest edition of Smackdown vs. Raw was released.. I may be wrong.

If they don't have blood in smackdown vs. raw 2011 I will riot. I bust people open in every single match. I am a is thirsty for blood.

But really I am kind of hypocritical as you put it in how they have blood in the video game but on tv no one is busted open purposely.

I actually said something about this a long time ago. I am a member of the Smackdown Vs RAW website and they emailed me a poll asking how effected would i be if they took blood out of future versions of the game. Of course I put that i would be strongly effected. Even if it is banned on TV I love to take out all my rage in video games and yes I too like to bust people open in every match.

It comes down to though the fact that the video games have a higher rating then the tv show with the games being teen and the show being pg

If they don't have blood in the new smackdown vs. raw video game I will be upset. I always made my matches no dq so I could bash my opponent in the head til they bleed. I also read that they are making a legends vs superstars video game which I hope is good.

you know i was playing SMACKDOWN vs RAW 2010 today and i was wondering the same but i think they banned blood after SDvsRAW came out but i will be mad if future games dont have blood because try to make them bleed hell i do it without weapons

I don't think they'll ban the use of blood in the SmackDown! vs RAW video games. I don't recall the last time I've seen the WWE host a "First Blood Match" on the television, but I doubt they'd get rid of that match in the 2011 version -- since it was in the 2010, and they've been PG for a while despite it. Most likely, they'll just rate the video game to be T for Teens, with the use of violence and blood, just like they've done everything else.

However, in the case that they do decide to ban blood in the video game, I will be sorely disappointed in how exaggerated this PG Era has come to be. Enough people complain about it being televised the way it is -- but if you change the game all together, there's going to be a shit storm afterward.

Well, the games have always been rated T for Teen, by the ESRP, which a parent can look at see why it got its rating. If parents are that intense on not wanting to have their kid see blood, they'll not buy it. Also, there's a setting affecting blood. "Yes or No". Parents can turn it off.
I just don't think they'll remove the blood factor in a game, which is fake.

Damn dude what are you 11 or 12? Your taking it too seriously. I stopped playing SvR about 4 years ago. But im pretty sure that their won't be any more blood in SvR games if their is some now. Doesn't really make sense to do that.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the setting in which you can change the blood to being on or off. I hope the next game still has blood in it but I'm not against this option in the settings for strict parents. But now that we're on the subject of pg era wrestling video games, wouldn't it suck if they also took out chair shots to the head?

I woulden't say its WWE being hypocritical, rarther that they would leave this unchecked or at least till now.

The main reason I beleive this is because I think they don't have a lot of input into the games- and have before tried to gain more control but failed due to contracts, and something to do with it being classed as a toy (don't quote me on that but its something similar).

You have to remember it takes quite a bit of effort for the casual player, or through demonstration, to actually bring an opponent to bleed; requiring often the right settings and match type.

Blood has been removed from WWE games of the past; WWF No Mercy had an error in which career data was deleted, they fixed it and re-released a new batch however this time blood was removed.

On the issue, Personally I would much prefer they follow WWE's new stance on blood because it would contribute to a more authentic simulation of the sport today and overall product.

Imagine how great that would be if guys ran up to your bleeding character with towels and as either a heel or face you could turn them away, get angry, or accept the clean up and collect your normal paycheck.

I must admit though when I was a lad i would load up WCW/NWO world tour, play as Hollywood Hulk Hogan and clothsline people until the crowd would shriek and my opponent was bloodied :icon_redface: .

No I am not 11 or 12 just because I like playing smackdown vs. raw video games doesn't mean anything. Have you ever heard of exaggeration? Why would I riot over a video game? Get real.

I quit playing SvsR after 2006, so in no way will it really effect me or make me upset.

WWE games I think have always been rated T for Teen (as a couple of people have already pointed out) so to remove blood will definitely be a peg down; possible to a E for Everyone or errrr what's above that? Like a TV Y-7 or somekinda shit like that.

If they take blood out then I believe in the future they will take out weapons period, possibly no more Ladder Matches or aerial assaults, because that could seriously hurt a kid if they tried it at home. You can already tell this would be bad for business. So I think in 5 years time we will have our blood back on the big screen and into our video games.

Of course, this whole entire concept of blood in games or not can easily be decided by a beautiful little thing called Options. If anything they will give you that, whether or not it keeps kids away from busting each other up a la Triple H vs. Undertaker Last Man Standing or wtvr.

I've been thinking about starting a thread on this same topic, but never came around to it for some reason...

I wouldn't doubt that SvR 2011 will lose the blood, since WWE has no blood now, and those videogames are always trying to keep up with the current program. We used to have women capable of being in every match. Now they can only compete against each other. Since the "no blood law" was placed AFTER the latest SvR game came out, I would bet that blood will probably be taken out.... or at least (which I think would be the smart way to go) have the option to take out blood if a parent deems it too dangerous.

The old school WWF Warzone game (if I remember correctly) had the option to make the game PG and it would take out words like "ass" out of the game. I don't see why THQ can't give us the option to choose.

I'm pretty sure they still have the first blood match on SVR 2010, hopefully they won't ban it on 2011 game. I'm getting pretty pissed when they are stopping matches to allow doctors to come in to treat wrestlers in the WWE. OK like it or not wwe is pg now (i don't like it personally) So i understand cutting out swearing and nudity, but kids watching boxing etc will see blood and should understand wrestling is the same. Most of the films kids watc nowadays have blood

I think because there is no blood in wrestling shows, they instead have satisfied us, because they have given us blood in the videogames...i think it's good they keep blood in the games...

They banned blood before they released 2010 because 2010 was released after Extreme Rules which to my knowledge didn't have anyone bleed at last year's E.R. PPV. And the blood was much stronger in last years as well and WWE has been PG for over a year now. Last year's NWO PPV only had one sign of blood that was Orton/Shane but that might've been an accident and they hadn't enforced the clean-up policy yet in both Elimination Chamber matches no one bled.

I think its because WWE Smackdown vs. Raw is in a different market. Yes it appeals to WWE fans but there could be the ones who linger and might just buy the game for the sake of buying a game and might not be that interested in the product or might not be a diehard fan as others are. Besides it wouldn't make sense in putting a top selling game down to PG level, people would see PG and be put off by it because PG is stuff like Sonic and Mario and generally movie tie-in games or puzzle games. You just go ballistic on the WWE computer games and do stuff you wouldn't normally see on the programming, its because its just computer violence, nothing like GTA obviously but just computer violence and THQ know its smarter to sell as a 15 rating here in the UK and T for Teen since Teen is 13 and up.

I think they will still have blood I mean it is rated 15/16+ over here in the UK whereas I know WWE is rated less however i don't know what it is. So if parents are willing to buy a 15/16+ they should know what's coming. I myself love the svr series so I will get annoyed if they removed blood. Even though it wouldn't affect me a lot, I would still feel annoyed if they did remove it.

If they take blood out of SvR 2011 then I will not buy it. What is the point of having a wrestling game with no blood in it?

I am already sick of medics having to clean-up the wrestlers if they bleed! I understand if some strict parents do not want they little kids exposed to violence. But this is wrestling so go back to Hannah Montana or whatever if you don't like the violence WWE should offer the adult fans.

Do the parents complain that a fire-fighter goes into a burning building no. The parents complain if blood is show on wrestling even through this is they job and they know the risks the parents still complain.

I totally agree with what you are saying. Basically RAW's slogan should be "Making grown men violently beating the shit out of each other child friendly since 2008" It infuriates me highly!

Video game blood is cartoony. It's fake. Real blood is real. There is no need to remove the blood from SVR, because it isn't real. There is a huge difference between a guy blading on TV and some red colored pixels in a video game.

they had blood in smackdown vs raw 2010 so i would assume even though wwe is pg there will still be blood. i mean theres 8-year-olds that play call of duty which is more graphic then wrestling games (atleast in my opinion) so i don't think wwe would stop having blood in the games, if they did stop blood then oh well they stopped blood on tv also.
unless like they do something in the game where how in real life when someone gets cut open a ref comes to help them and in the game when someone gets cut open it goes to a quick cut scene where the ref wipes the blood off them. idk that would be annoying but it would seem real i guess.

OMG i just remembered chair shots to the head. that should still be there though

Is everyone forgetting that one of the biggest reasons that WWE chose to ban blood was to prevent the possible spread of blood born infections. That's also the reason the referees wear rubber gloves all the time.

Sean Waltman has just been diagnosed with Hepatitis C, and could pass this on if he was to be busted open in a match.

Bob Orton was busted open during a HiAC match between Randy Orton and Undertaker a few years ago. It was not until after the match that Bob revealed he also had Hep C. Mark Callaway (Undertaker) was legitimatley pissed off by this because all 3 men had been cut open, and could have very easily caught it from Bob Orton.

Back to the topic, blood will probably end up being banned in the new game. I can't say that I would be too bothered by this, because it's not really that big of a deal. Hell, in the last game, if you made an opponent bleed during your match, they would no longer be bleeding in the cut scene after the match.
