The Women's Division- What do you think of it?

With the Diva Search already here (much to my dislike) I figure that this is just the right time to discuss the Women's Division in the WWE.

Okay, personally I think the Women's Division is in shambles on both Raw, Smackdown, and even ECW. When's the last time we saw a good, solid match between two females on Raw, Smackdown, or ECW? Raw keeps going back and forth with Trish and Melina, Smackdown doesn't even have women's matches, and so far on ECW we've only seen Kelly's Expose. The thing that's making me mad is that there are still a lot of great female wrestlers in the WWE but, most of them are not getting the exsposre that they deserve. Victoria, Lita, Beth Pheonix (she's out on injury so she doesn't really count), Mickie James, Jazz and Trish Stratus. Okay, I guess Melina too. The only two that really seem to be getting any air time are Trish Stratus (of course) and Melina on Raw.

Not that I have anything against Melina and Trish, they're both great athletes but, it seems like WWE is putting appearance over wrestling. Not that Trish and Melina can't wrestle but, Victoria and Mickie James and Lita have just as much talent if not more and they're barley getting a push. Mickie James is the Women's Champion and she hasen't had a decent match in ages (not since the WWE vs. ECW special). Victoria- what a fantastic athlete but, she's hasen't had a match in a long time. Lita- well she's managing but, that doesn't mean that she only gets one match every 5 months. Smackdown barley has had any female matches and the most we've seen is Kristal complain about how Ashley said she came in tenth or something. On ECW, Jazz should be out there but, we haven't seen one Women's Match.

I wouldn't even mind divas like Candice Michelle or the Diva Search, if only there would be some decent Women's matches on Raw, or Smackdown, or ECW. I'm missing the old days when wrestlers like Chyna, Ivory, Jazz, Molly Holly, Gail Kim, Victoria, Lita, and Trish used to have great matches or when Women's title matches main evented on Raw. What do other people think?

Believe it or not, there is such thing as women's technical wrestling. It just won't ever be found in the WWE.

If I were you, I'd go find Shimmer: Women Athletes. It's like the Ring Of Honor of female wrestling and I think you'd like it a lot. You can order their dvds at Ring Of Honor's website.

The problem with SmackDown! is that none of the women on that show know how to wrestle, with the exception of Jillian Hall. I think they should move Jillian to Raw and someone like Candice Michelle or Maria to SmackDown!, and the latter could be the show that features its Divas in PG-rated displays of sexuality.

ECW is also rather talent deficient right now, as Trinity is currently injured and Francine has yet to appear. Forget about Kelly Kelly - she's probably the most useless Diva in the WWE. I think it will take at least a few months and a longer timeslot before we see much in the way of women's wrestling - for now, it's all about what Vinnie likes, and that's T & A displays.

Raw is easily the best that WWE has to offer, but with Trish on her way out, it will be up to Melina, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, and Victoria to impress in the ring, along with maybe a few OVW call-ups. Part of the problem lies with a lot of the current Raw divas that can actually wrestle (aside from Melina, IMO) lacking the sex appeal to win over a segment of the wrestling fans. Whether we see improvements in this area depends on where Vinnie's priorities lie.

As far as TNA is concerned, it seems not much in the way of women's wrestling makes it onto Impact, but Christy Hemme and Jackie are alright in the ring (I hear Christy is spending time trying to improve her in-ring skills) and Traci and Gail Kim are definitely above average, with the latter being arguably the best female wrestler around today. With the addition of a few other Knockouts, TNA could easily give Raw a run for its money in this division.

Oh Dear Womans Wrestling is always looked down upon and for that u can blame mr Fucking mcmahon Gravy bowl matches and so forth, I used to watch ECW and watch Jazz beat the shit outta half the guys there and take a beating in kind. Does anyone remember the Trish Stratus Vs Stephanie match from a few years back that was absolutely awesome. Last real good womans matches were Trish Vs lita or Mickie Vs Trish from WM

Her and Edge broke up shortly after becoming an on-screen couple. There were too many people talking and it just raised all kinds of comotion so they called it off. They are a couple on-screen only now.

But, I really don't enjoy Women's matches as I would a standard match. That is why, every time women fight,I just change Channel. It is too slow. Not saying that there shouldn't be women matches, but not on events at least. For example a Women's match might replace a Light Heavyweight, which is 1000x better.

I love watching technical women's matches. I remember two years ago or so Lita vs Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship on Raw- that was amazing. Fast paced and not at all boring. Instead of having squash matches and wasting time with the Diva Search, why not have some Women's matches on Raw? Victoria vs Trish vs Lita. I remember a time when we had steel cage matches (Lita vs Victoria) and even a street fight (Victoria vs Trish). There was good technical matches on Raw but, not anymore.

My last shred of sympathy for the WWE Women's Division left when they released Gail Kim. Now it's just a big talent pool of Playboy bunnies, ex-strippers and girls who want to do softcore porn without actually taking their clothes off. On the bright side, it provides a nice convenient spot during the live broadcast for me to go grab snacks at the corner store.

That is a good point and very true. Out of like 13 or 14 women in the WWE only 5 or six can wrestle.

wrestling is becoming unimportant to vince ratings are important and he thinks more people will watch if its girls stripping eachother with no actual moves and that water fight they had was such shit. The problem is all girls they hire now have implants so if they fall on there stomach there boobs will pop.

I don't mind the beautiful divas the WWE has right now. I mean they are hot hot hot. But I really enoyed it when back in the day Divas were as much part of the show in the ring as the champions themselves. I really would like to see the divas not only come down the ring and show off their goods, but also once in a while compete like the divas used to before. Lita, Chyna, Molly Holly etc (like mentioned by Eternal Dragon). That kind of action was as much fun as watching them just come down the ramp. Some can't fight that much due to injuries they had before and stuff. But most of these divas can be put to good use and not just have them show off their bodies but also have those bodies in action in classical wrestling matches. None of that pillow fight school girl bullshit (even if it is preety nice to see) but these girls should have more wrestling backround than just a preety face. This is why the whole diva search is always (and sometimes mostly) another way to just have a cutie on TV.

That is kind of odd - someone needs to she some light on that. I'm pretty sure what Vinnie hopes to get out of the Diva Search is pure eye candy - nothing more, nothing less. People like Candice Michelle, Maria, Torrie Wilson, and Ashley Massaro, all of whom are pretty weak in the ring and only use the most simple moves out there ... they're all just hoping to use WWE as a springboard to an acting career, and don't really have a desire to wrestle anyway.

Christy is better off in TNA. She actually has a passion for the business, which makes her different from 80% of the WWE Divas. She definitely seems to be the most popular Knockout right now, and I think it's just a matter of time before we see a women's division over in TNA that kills what WWE has to offer.
