The Sports Bar

Watching highlights on MLB Network, saw that Cespedes knocked in another one today. This guy is for real. The A's must be ecstatic. I don't want to get ahead of myself but he could definitely be in home run derby talks come All-Star time.

Yeah I was watching that game (thanks to Extra Innings free trial - which I fucking love) and he killed it to right center. Really hope he does well, because I had high thoughts on him and thought the Tigers should've went for him even after they got Fielder (yes, I'm greedy).

And his training video is awesome.

Seriously, I was begging the Indians to sign him. He was obviously going places, just wasn't clear if it would be this year or not. It's starting to look like we're getting the answer to that question.

I can see them extending him, especially if they get the move to San Jose in that time frame, which they probably will.

Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder both hit two homeruns yesterday. If this is a sign of things to come, I apologize in advance to the fans of the other AL teams for future cocky posts reveling in the Tigers success.

I'm a Twins fan, we've allowed 12 runs in two losses, & only scored 4 runs so far this season, my hopes & expectations for us this season are extremely low at this point.

I can't imagine Morneau ever being the same player he was pre-concussions, & I don't see us re-signing him so why not trade him now (by now I mean the near future) while you can still get something in exchange for him. I swear if they just let him walk away like they did Hunter & Santana I'm going to be on very pissed off Twins fan.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Twins ALWAYS suck for the first few weeks/month into the season, then 90% of the time make a late run, 70% of the time making the playoffs (before getting swept by the Yankees in the first round).

You should trade him, but I doubt he has much of any value right now, since he hasn't proved anything since he came back from injury. You have to hope that he has a decent first half, then deal him at the deadline.

And the Twins TRADED Santana, they didn't let him leave via Free Agency. Granted the pieces they got back weren't good (and aren't with the team anymore), but they still traded him.

Indians got their first win, in a nice game. Perez looked a lot better and would have ended the game pretty commandingly had Cabrera not fumbled a double play ball. Great start from Lowe, good work from Pestano and Perez, enough offense...only disappointment is defensively but for the whole series it's been great, so not too concerned. Getting the win was a necessity to not come out of this series 0-3. Should hopefully take at least 2 over the Sox and draw even to .500 which is a fine start and a good way to enter the road trip.

I know it has only been three games but this season already has a special feeling for the Tigers. They swept the Red Sox in dramatic fashion today. Miguel Cabrera hit a three run homer in the 9th to tie the game and then down 12-10 in the 11th, the Tigers came back and won with a walk off two run homer from Alex Avila. Cabrera hit 3 homers in the series while Fielder and Avila hit 2 each.

I haven't posted in here forever. Just wanted to mention for those who haven't heard Ivan Rodriguez is announcing his retirement from baseball. Awesome career and definite first ballot hall of famer.

There's one spot left in the NBA playoffs. The Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns both control their own destiny for the 8th spot in the West. Utah is at home against Phoenix tonight and they can clinch the 8th spot with a win. The Suns need to win tonight at Utah and then beat the Spurs on Wednesday to guarantee themselves a spot.

Harthan, I'm assuming you're a Browns fan, so I'll ask you who you want them to take at 4 tomorrow night.

Richardson. I was once sold on Blackmon but decided an effective running back is better. When Hillis was good, the Browns showed a lot of potential. Maybe Richardson can help fast track us back to that. Richardson will be on the board unless Minnesota trades down.

I have no real objections to Kalil or Blackmon, though. I mean, not if Richardson's on the board. Otherwise, I'd rather have Richardson.

Yeah, I'm in agreement that Richardson is the smart, safe pick, although I saw rumors that the Jets are trying to trade with Minnesota to take him at 3. I highly doubt it'll happen, though.

I'm hoping my Steelers take Hightower. Farrior's gone, Foote's worthless, Sylvester isn't really a starter. Hightower can step in right away and fill the hole at ILB.

On a side note, CAVS LOSE! CAVS LOSE! Now I'm just hoping Chicago's backups have their way with them tomorrow night, and there'll be a good shot of seeing MKG or Beal in wine and gold next season.

Cavs really need to move up a few spots in the odds. Not shutting down Kyrie was moronic on all accounts. Why are we risking the franchise player's health for winning meaningless games that you want to lose anyway? Infuriating.

Beal is a good, fairly realistic choice. MKG would be very nice. I don't really object to Thomas Robinson either.

Jets aren't trading that high. No way in hell. They can't afford it. And as I jets fan I don't want them to trade that high for him, as it would cost WAY to much. I want him, but only if he fell out of the top 10. Jets are gonna either trade up and get Mark Barron the Safety (probably around 10-ish) or draft a Pass Rusher.

Browns will get either playmaker that's available (Richardson/Blackmon). They're better off getting Richardson, and hoping Floyd falls to them with their other 1st round pick. Floyd is every bit as good as Blackmon, and could potentially fall there (unless the Jets take him, which could also happen).

Be shocked if Floyd falls that far. I have him to the Bills at 10.

I think the Browns want Weeden and I'm not sure whether they gamble and try to let him slide to the second round. Depends on who is available. They might go for Glenn if he slides to them at 22. I'm not sure how I'd feel if they drafted Weeden, but I think it's very likely. Some pressure for McCoy is a good thing, but is it worth a first round pick? I'd like to try to let him slide to the second, pick an OT or WR at 22, go for Weeden at 37. If it doesn't work out, whatever. But I think you can get him in the second.

As it stands right now, they're in a tie with the Hornets and Kings for 3rd-worst. Houston is sitting four of their big names tomorrow night against New Orleans, and with the Lakers clinching the Pacific, they may rest everyone against Sacramento tomorrow. If we can get sole possession of 3rd-worst and no one jumps us in the lottery, we have an awesome chance of having our pick of MKG/Beal/maybe Robinson also, which I would love.

And this may sound crazy, but if somehow we got the #1 pick again, I'd be tempted to trade it to the highest bidder (as long as we're getting a pick in the top 3-4).

I'm in agreement with your take on trading for Trent. Barron's going to be a hot commodity tomorrow; it'll be interesting to see who makes moves to get him.

HOW DARE YOU SPEAK ILL OF STEVENSON SYLVESTER?!

Kidding. My Utah bias was flaring up.

hahaha, I love Sylvester...dude is a boss on special teams and has an awesome name to go with it. I just don't think he's ready to step in as a full-time starter yet.
