who's saying they just get 1 WR?

Wayne and Laurent Robinson? Wayne and Mike Wallace? Wayne and Vincent Jackson? Wayne and Garcon? Yeah, I'd say Manning would go then. Especially with Garcon.

When they sign one of those guys we can have this discussion. But at this point, Miami is terrible option for Manning.

The Chicago Bears just traded for Brandon Marshall for two, third round picks. What a great trade considering Marshal can still go at the Wide out position and is a great fit with Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett.

This is a great trade for the Bears, or a terrible trade for the Bears, depending on which Brandon Marshall they get. Brandon Marshall can be a team's #1 WR, but only when he wants to. If he is motivated to play hard, good trade. If he is just going through the motions of being an NFL receiver (I think he was mentally checked out most of last year) then it's a bad trade.

I'm thinking that being reunited with Cutler(his favorite qb and good friend) will be enough motivation for him to be the best he can be, at least I hope so! Plus their both being reunited with Jeremy bates as their qb coach who they had pretty good stats with in Denver. If the Bears can get a couple of decent oline men to protect Cutler they'll be in damn good shape!

The Saints are keeping Colston, which is good because they lost out on Moss. In NBA news the Bulls are trying to get Pau Gasol but they need a third team because they lack the resources the Lakers want for a straight up trade.

Chicago really ought to just stand pat unless someone blows them away. They can beat Miami and win a title as it stands.

With a healthy Rip Hamilton they may be able to but otherwise this season is playing out just like last year. I personally think they should try to somehow get Dwight Howard, but if Gasol is all they can get he is at least a slight upgrade over Boozer.

Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh, and Kwame Brown to the Bucks, Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson to the Warriors.

I'm not sure how I feel about Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis in the same backcourt.

I actually like the trade for both sides. Golden State wants to become a more well rounded team. They get that with a very good true center in Bogut and an all around solid player in Stephen Jackson. This gives GS a likely starting 5 of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Stephen Jackson, David Lee, and Andrew Bogut. That's a solid foundation.

For Milwaukee, they get rid of a disgruntled Jackson who doesn't want to be there and in return they get easily the best overall player in the deal, Monta Ellis. They also get the youngest player in the deal in Ekpe Udoh. I actually think the back court of Jennings and Ellis is perfect for the Bucks because now Jennings doesn't have to shoulder the scoring load (like he has the last couple years). He can focus on what he does best, which is be a true point guard while Ellis does the heavy scoring. Both guys will be better playing together.

Brandon Marshall going to the Bears is scary, especially if they still wound up with Mario Williams and then figure out Forte's money situation. If all these come together, they're right up there with Green Bay to be the favorite to win the NFC next year.

But fuck all that... I could not be happier with the Saints resigning Marques Colston. Man, I didn't not want to see him in another uniform. Now, let's get Carl Nicks, please.

Anyways, I agree with BS that it was a great move for both teams in the Warriors/Bucks trade. I don't see Golden State being able to make the playoffs this year since their in the West, but they're a piece or two away from becoming a solid playoff squad for next year. And Milwaukee's holding on to that 8th seed for now, and I think Ellis (the most underrated player in the league, IMO) helps them keep it as long as New York continues their downslide.

Speaking of the Knicks... I know it's the cool thing to put all the blame on Melo, but personally this slump was inevitable. All you have to do is look at the quality of competition the Knicks were beating during that winning streak, and the kind of teams they have been losing to lately. To put blame on Melo is unfair, but if he gets traded (which I doubt), then I won't bitch because while he's by far my favorite player in the league, it's just hard for me to back such a big market team.

Lastly, it seems strange to me that the Bulls are throwing around these trade offers for Pau and before that Dwight Howard considering that they're the only team in the East right now who looks like they could give Miami run for their money. Why go fuck up the chemistry? Derrick Rose doesn't seem to be happy with it, either.

I think Chicago is throwing out these trade offers because management doesn't think this team will beat the Heat, and I tend to agree. If Rip Hamilton is completely healthy then they have a shot but that is far from a guarantee. This Chicago team is basically identical to last years with Rip out. Miami didn't change much but they improved with the additions of Shane Battier and Norris Cole and last year they didn't have too much trouble with the Bulls, taking them out in 5 games. I'm not saying Chicago can't beat Miami, just that it would be extremely difficult for this current team to defeat the Heat in a 7 game series.

I don't know how much room they have left in the cap, but I highly doubt they can afford Nicks.[/quote]

The blame is on the coach for not knowing how to coach defense. And Melo isn't getting dealt. They put too much into it. D'Antoni will be fired, and a new coach will get the chance to make it work, which he should be able to.

If the Bulls take a Delorean up to 88 MPH, gets 1.21 gigawatts of energy to the flux capacitor, go back to 2004, and kidnap THAT Rip Hamilton, I'd agree.

I don't understand why Dwight Howard would refuse a trade there. It's the best chance to win a title. Even if he doesn't want to sign there, go there and win, then sign with Brooklyn.

Nicks said on Twitter that the Saints made a respectable offer and that he's considering it. While I'm sure a team will outbid them, I don't put it past Nicks to take a hometown discount. People don't realize just how close nit this Saints squad is. Nicks will listen to offers, but it's going to take a ridiculous amount to get him away from here I think.

Rip can still play when healthy. He certainly isn't what he used to be but his skill set gives the Bulls something they don't have without him. I'm not saying he sways things significantly as I'd still take the Heat over the Bulls with or without Rip, he just gives them a better chance to win. I give the Bulls 10% chance without a healthy Rip and 30% with him.

It takes time to get good, remember the Bulls lost to the Pistons twice I think before breaking through. I think the main issue is Boozer and him not living up to expectations and Noah being a below average scorer. The Bulls however give up the 2nd least points in the NBA and the best rebounding team while Miami is 18th.

...And just as I post this, Nicks is on his way to Tampa for a visit. And since those assholes are actually spending $$$ for once... damn. Still hoping for the best, though.

At least if we lose Nicks, Ben Grubbs is waiting in the wings for us to snatch up. He's no Nicks, but he's still a pro bowler.

To be fair, was the offer that he had from before Colston signed? If that's the case, that offer may have been gone already.

Pretty certain it was. The Saints were waiting for the cap numbers to be released before making any offers. And yesterday before Nicks posted that on Twitter, there were reports on Colston and the Saints working hard on a new deal, so logic says both offers were made with the intent to be able to land them both.

Also, the way Nicks is on Twitter, if the Saints took the offer away he would have mentioned it.

The main issue is Boozer being 30 and his numbers decreasing. That's why I don't buy the "it's going to take them a few years to get good" thing. That works for teams with a young nucleus like OKC but when your second best player is a 30 year old big man who is likely only going to get worse, then you need to evaluate where your roster stands.

Pau Gasol is turning 32 this year, wouldn't it make more sense to umm...get younger instead of older? Who could the Bulls pick up at the Power Forward position that isn't older than Boozer? Since that is one of your complaints about him. BTW, Luol Deng is only 26 and Noah is 27. But why is Boozer being 30 such a bad thing? Dwayne Wade is the same age..It's more his production than his age.

The problem with Boozer is not so much his offence (even though he is pretty soft in the paint) its that he couldn't stop a stationary rock from getting to the hoop, no matter who he is guarding they are going to have a career game, he has no heart or pride when it comes to playing D and they can't afford that come playoff time. Thats why come the 4th quarter they switch him and Taj Gibson out for offence/defence purposes.

His numbers have dropped, he used to be a 20/10 type of guy and now he is average at best. Taj plays good defense, and he is young at only 26. Is there a need to trade for a PF if you have Gibson? I know Gibson is better on D, I am just not sure about his offensive game.

The Detroit Lions have extended Calvin Johnson's contract. 7 years, 132 million bucks (60 guaranteed)

It's pricy for sure, but at the same time, he is the best WR in the NFL, and should be paid like it. I love the fact that Megatron isn't going anywhere for a long, long time. Now, I want to know what the cap hit for this year is going to be...Detroit has a lot of positions to fill, and not a lot of money to do it with. So, thrilled at this news, but it's a reserved thrill.

I expect more cuts will be coming in order to pay for everything.

There isn't a cap hit this year. There's Cap Relief. That's why they were doing the deal. He was to have like 20 Million against the cap before the deal.
