The Sports Bar

I will be too if the Hawks can pull out the Ws. I hope Josh Smith read the article about him taking too many dumbass jump shots. I haven't been this excited since I met Steve Nash last November.

You'sa luck bastard, I've been to a preseason NBA game and it was amazing, can't even imgaine going to a live playoff game....

And if you don't mind me asking, how did that Steve Nash meeting go down?

I'm guessing you don't consider yourself a coward, so let me ask you this: If Ben Wallace pushed you what would you do? I'm guessing you would literally run away (which btw is not what Ron Ron did). Ron is one of the must thugged out nigs in the league, I guarentee if you ask NBA players to make a list of dudes in the league you just dont fuck with, Artest will be near the top of the list.

It really all depends. But I can tell you what I wouldn't do for sure... and that's back down from someone, and then go attack the smallest person in the room.

Artest is a coward punk bitch, man, and I guarantee had he pulled that shit on Tyson Chandler or someone like that last night he would have gotten his fucking head knocked off. But he wouldn't do that to Chandler, would he? No, he goes for the head of the smallest person on the count... JJ Barea.

Chandler? I could see maybe Haywood or Stevenson, but Chandler's a skinny dude man, doubt he could take Ron Ron

I do see your point though, still dont think Artest is a coward, not at all

My uncle, Eric Lewis, is a NBA referee so sometimes when we go to the games and he's there we get to go in the family room where the players family meet them after the game. The night the Suns played Nash came into the room and I got to meet my favorite non-Hawks NBA player got him to sign the ticket and the program.

That was easily the best game of the playoffs so far. Great, great game.

I also loved the fact that Derek Fisher single handily cost the Lakers a chance to win, too. I can't stand that fuck... so I'm always happy to see him play horribly.

Moreover, major props to Peja Stojakovic. Been a huge fan of his for over 10 years now, so I was very pleased to see him play so well tonight in the 4th Quarter.

Lastly, Dirk = Unstoppable. I've watched him since the beginning of his career and he's easily playing the best basketball he's ever played. If he continues this type of play to a championship win... it will go down as one of the greatest playoff runs in NBA history by a player.

VERLANDER! NO HITTER BABY!

I'm soo stoked. He missed the perfect game by one strike, but he was phenominal throughout. 2nd of his career, and the only guys that I think have 2 that are active are Buehrle and Halladay (although they each have a perfect game). That's some damn fine company, and a reason why he's one of the best.

According to the K Zone (Which I know isn't the be all end all, but is pretty accurate) it showed he was a few inches off. It was a great AB by Arenciba, and it did seem slightly outside. I thought it was the right call.

At least he got a no hitter, as well. Galaragga just got a nice 1 hitter...

It should of been a perfect game, Detroit was screwed out of perfect games in back to back years. Even though he still got the no hitter, that was a strike.
I didn't realize that the Strike Zone extends all the way to the Left Handed batters box.

I'm stoked that he did it, since Verlander is on my Fantasy team (GREAT pick by me by the way, Verlander is awesome and I got him a couple rounds later then he should have gone).

I know it wasn't a actual strike, but no one would have said anything if it was called a strike.
The Blue Jays would have. As would Major League Baseball, since it would have been such a bad call, they might look into said umpire. I would all but guarantee that if they called it a strike, Arencibia (the batter) would have been loudly against it, and I would bet he or the manager would be ejected.

At the end of the day there's no justification for a terrible call, even for the sake of preserving history.

Big, big difference between the level of respect umpires HAD for Greg Maddux and that of Justin Verlander.
and in the level of technology to confirm the shittiness of a ball/strike call.

They didn't have great equipment to look back on it then, now they do.

And who said the umps were right to do that to Maddux?

Umps are always going to give leeway to a pitcher who has a history of pounding the strike zone. Verlander has done it for a few years, but nowhere close to the consistency of Maddux. Sure, it isn't right for them to do it for Maddux, but it happens more often than not. Verlander got a bad deal. Next time he is in position for a perfect game, I bet the ump will call it a strike.

I don't know much about boxing other than Lennox Lewis, for all of his criticism from fight fans, is really handsome.

Did anyone here rant about that Medenhall dude? I don't care if spelled his name wrong, but the guy is an idiot. Not just an idiot, but a self-entitled 20-something idiot. Geez.
