You forgot about Matt Harvey. 9-3, 2.09 ERA, 0.86 WHIP on a crap Mets team. And considering they give the award to players on crap teams (see Dickey, R.A.) he's more then in the race, he could be leading it.
I did forget him. Liriano has more wins and a better ERA, but Harvey's WHIP is just incredible. If he's not right now, he'll be the best pitcher in baseball quite soon.
You're welcome.
He never would have been that good in New York. Couldn't handle the market. Still rooting for him to succeed, always liked him with the Yankees, even though he was wildly inconsistent then.
He was freaking terrible for the Yankees. I remember the fans wanted him run out of town. Whatever has changed, he's thrived in the small market, and not only has he pitched great, he's been a great leader and mentor for younger guys like Locke and Cole.
Fuck you. Here I was hoping for a Yankee/Pirates World Series so you and the pirate fans can have something special (as in the Yankees sweeping you just like in the 1927 World Series), but now you went and wanted to see the evil Red Sox. For shame, LSN, for shame.

To be honest, I don't care if it's the Pirates and 'insert team here.' You're a Yankees fan, you're used to winning. This excitement for baseball is something I haven't felt in 20 years. Darn right Im going to enjoy it, regardless of whose expense it's at.
I'm not taking on any name change bet on behalf of the Red Sox. I'm a Patriots fan, a Celtics fan, and of course a Bruins fan, but while I don't hate them or anything, I'm not a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
So not a baseball fan, or simply not a BoSox fan?
It's really weird how a salary dump trade turned into an ace for Pittsburgh. gives a lot of credit to the change of scenery theory, as well as the idea that some guys just do better in one league or the other.
.
The Pirates, despite he being incredibly erratic, really wanted him, salary dump or not. More importantly, he seemed excited from Day 1 to come to Pittsburgh, and he's pitched like it.
I think Harvey in the end will lose the CY race to Kershaw because of the innings diffrence there will be since Harvey's getting shut down
The same reason, I suspect, that Liriano won't win. He missed the first month of the season with a broken non-throwing arm.
What's truly incredible about Liriano is that he's gotten a decision in every start he's made. 16 starts, 12-4.
