The Sports Bar

How big of a bust was Aaron Curry? Maybe not Jamarcus Russell big, but still pretty bad. The only reason he was picked #4 in the 09 draft was because he was not a need for the first 3 teams. Plus linebackers are rarely so amazing that they warrant being traded up for. Clearly QBs, LTs, DEs and RBs are the sought after picks as they impact the game more.

Anyways, regarded as arguably the best player in the 09 draft. Now retired. :disappointed:

RBs aren't really like that anymore. They're a dime a dozen nowadays. Didn't the first RB not come until the 2nd round? Sure they are one of the few positions to make an immediate impact as a rookie, but I don't think many teams target them often cause they know they can get decent guys in the middle rounds.

It depends. In general that's the case nowadays, but the very good ones are fought over. Cleveland was so paranoid about losing out on Richardson they traded up one spot. And there's no way Adrian Peterson lasts all the way to the 7th pick if there weren't injury concerns about him.

But yes, in today's passing league, RBs are much less valuable than they used to be. No longer do we see things like the Herschal Walker or Ricky Williams trades. It's almost as if WRs are beginning to take over that role in the draft, but to a lesser extent.

Chris Perez has to go.

We managed to shut down the Orioles for 8 innings in a game we had to win. Perez gives up three runs without getting a single out to make it a one run game. Thankfully he got three straight outs after that, but there is no reason we should keep risking our leads by putting him out there. I can't remember the last time he had a 1-2-3 inning and we need to get rid of this guy if we're going to make a run at the wild card.

The Pirates won their 81st game tonight. For the first time since 1992 they will not have a losing record. We've known for a while now this long losing streak would come to an end but now it is official.

PEREZ DID IT AGAIN!

The Indians hold off the Mets time after time but Perez comes in and gives up the go ahead run. WHAT DOES THIS TEAM SEE IN HIM???

And they have 20 games left to get win #82! With how they're playing and suddenly, pitching, I'm crossing my fingers they get there....

So in Week 3 of the preseason, Mark Sanchez suffered a "bruised shoulder joint" as was announced and he was "Day to day" but definitely not playing in Week 4 of the Preseason, or Week 1 of the Regular Season.

Bruised Shoulder Joint apparently means Labral tear in his shoulder. He's likely out for the year and (as was already known) will be cut after the season when there is no cap hit.

Oh, and Derek Jeter is back on the DL and not coming back for the postseason. I'm hoping they take him off the DL just to play the 9th inning of Mariano's last game (if the game is not needed to get them in the playoffs).

Geno Smith won his first game as an NFL QB. Even if it wasn't the greatest game a QB has ever played, I think if Mark Sanchez had a papercut at this point they'd make it sound like he lost an arm.

Besides, Ryan needs to do something to inject some life into his team and fanbase. Not to mention take a few risks since he's playing for his job.

Oh I know that, it's just humorous how a bruised shoulder joint is actually a torn labrum.

There's part of me that wonders if putting Sanchez in the Giant game with the backups was a conspiracy to make sure he doesn't win the starting job (which he clearly did by outplaying Geno in preseason).

And I'm really digging Geno right now. Week 1 was solid, Week 2 he was good for 3 quarters then made some rookie mistakes. He's allowed to make rookie mistakes since, well, he's a rookie.

I just heard Todd Helton is retiring after this season. Great career. From 1999-2004 he was as good as anybody. I'll be interested to see if he gets the call from Cooperstown in 2019.

He really is incredibly underrated. Unfortunately, I don't think he get in for the same reason Larry Walker hasn't gotten in: his numbers are good, but the writers don't respect them because they played at Coors.

I would join you but I don't hate the deal that much.

I get why they did it, but still. A blue chipper running back for a 1st round pick that likely will end up in the 20's.

I already posted non spam on it, I ain't repeating myself.

Are the Browns already giving up on the season? They put the third string QB in instead of a perfectly acceptable and experiences Jason Campbell and now this. Are they really giving up this fast?

Why is it in the 20's? That would mean that the Colts will make the playoffs (and maybe even win a game).

Aside from a great young QB and a brand new blue chip runner (whom obviously was not thought of as such by the current Cleveland regime) they have very little. And generally speaking skill players

The Colts will be 8-8 and miss the playoffs, and the Browns will have 2 1st round picks, probably a Top 5 and Top 20. That's enough to move to #2 and get Bridgewater or Clowney (whichever doesn't go #1 to Jacksonville).

A trade that allows you to get a franchise QB can never really be all that bad a deal. Besides, they sold on Richardson as high as his value will ever be.

Great deal for both sides.

They have to start early if they're going to do worse than Jacksonville. Cleveland actually competed in their games.
