So the Braves lost which allowed the Nationals to clinch the division. The Nationals lost too but had a champagne celebration in the locker room after the game. Just weird to see such a celebration after a loss.

They definitely earned it and I don't blame them for celebrating. Today's game didn't matter to them. As a matter of fact with the way the playoff schedule is set up this year the loss probably helped them. Just weird to see a celebration after a loss that's all.

Oakland A’s

I don’t really have anything to say. They said goodbye to Gio Gonzalez and Trevor Cahill and goodbye to any chance of being competitive. The intrigue of Yoennnis Cespedes is going to be the only reason people will remember baseball exists in Oakland. Maybe they can finish ahead of the Orioles in the AL this year but that’s about it.

Playoff baseball is the best. This postseason so far has been awesome. Don't care what you say. Fuck you and your couch.

This thread needs more Phil Coke celebrations

I like Phil Coke. I don't think he'd be a good closer, though. His peripherals don't suggest he'd be that good at it over the long term. Benoit would be the better choice.

Please do let Valverde go, though. He's been due for regression for a long time now and yeah, he hit that wall hard at the worst possible time. Let him go, pick up some relief on the cheap to fill in the gaps.

Well the Islanders are officially moving to Brooklyn, starting in 2015.

Nassau County will have the Nassau Coliseum ready for implosion the second the last Islanders person leaves the building.

Fuck.

James Harden just got traded to the Rockets for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, and picks. Sam Presti must not have been confident that they could have come to any agreement on an extension -- not that I blame him, Harden declined their latest offer earlier. Gonna be interesting to see how the Thunder adjust to this.

Kevin Martin will be a solid replacement as the sixth man for this year but he is just a one year loner. Jeremy Lamb is the key to this trade because if he lives up to his potential then the Thunder got a steal. I like Harden but he isn't an elite level number one option. Houston needs another great player to pair with him if they want to contend.

This is important to take note of. While I disagree with the assertion that Harden isn't a number one offensive option - check out his numbers when Durant and Westbrook weren't on the court - the Rockets are not ready to contend with this team. This team actually projects as the worst in the West, with or without Harden.

What's critical here is that Houston, even with a max deal to Harden, has a shit ton of cap space. They can literally acquire anyone. They will be players for Howard and Paul, and dare I say it, in two years, if they don't get one of those guys, they can and will be in play for LeBron.

2012 is not their year. But the Rockets could be real scary, real soon.

Those numbers are a little skewed considering there were very few minutes that Harden was on the floor with BOTH Durant and Westbrook on the bench. It's also a completely different mindset going from a number three option coming off the bench to a number one who will be drawing the opposing teams best perimeter defender on a nightly basis.

All fair. I still think he will be elite in Houston. But we'll see how it works out in the end.
