The Rumble's "MVP".

Randy Orton's Head Blood

Swinging with Cesaro...

Roman Reigns

- Beating Kane's record of 11 eliminations in one match, Reigns now has the new record, with 12, at one point eliminating three people with one push. (Cesaro, Rollins & Ambrose)
- Put on one hell of a display last night, mixing with some of the top WWE Superstars. Got to the final two of the Rumble, looking brilliant against Batista (Hitting a better spear too).

I have to say, Roman Reigns impressed me to no end last night. He became the crowd favourite last night when they realised there was no Daniel Bryan. They weren't cheering Reigns because they didn't have a Bryan, but because he'd put on a great showing in his FIRST EVER Royal Rumble. At some stage, you could've believed that he would've won the match, if the Batista outcome wasn't so obvious.

Forget Cena, forget Orton, Lesnar, Wyatt, Punk, Kofi & Batista. Reigns last night proved to everybody that he deserves to be a true main-event star, even with his first move, the beautiful dropkick onto CM Punk.

Anyone got any other "MVP's?"

No one in their right mind is going to say anything other than Reigns.

The Man absolutely killed at the rumble, and while I knew Batista was going to win, the reaction Reigns got made me think WWE might smarten up and call an audible, changing the plans to have Reigns win... hell, if they did that, I doubt this backlash would be as severe as it is.

Despite what WWE did wrong last night, they made a star out of Reigns.

I completely agree, and I legitimately thought they were going to call an audible. Especially when Reigins hit the Spear. And you could tell the fans would've had a far less problem with Reigns, when it got to the final two, they clearly were supporting Reigns over Batista. He was the clear MVP of the Rumble and it should be interesting to see where he and The Shield go from here.

I'd go on a limb and say that this thread should try to convince us why Reigns is not the MVP of the '14 Rumble match. He broke Kane's record. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand. He turned on The Shield (after The Shield tried to turn on him, but nonetheless). He had two of the best Spears I remember watching live (you mentioned the one on Batista, and Dolph Ziggler is probably the best of all time at selling big moves). But most importantly, Roman Reigns proved once and for all that he can be the singles Superstar, the powerhouse, and the face of the franchise that we all saw in him. This guy's got "It." There's no denying that anymore.

Come on, everyone knows that the MVP of the Rumble was the El Torito..
Ok, in all seriousness, Reigns is no doubt the MVP. He was awesome..

Top 5 moments from the Rumble for me:
5. El Torito Eliminating Fandango, then ultimately getting chucked by Reigns (was hoping for a Mike Awesome/Spike Dudley moment where he throws him in the crowd)
4. Kofi's leap of faith (even though he's done something like that before, the sheer athleticism is impressive)
3. Cesaro's spin on Rollins (the camera zooming in and out made it even better)
2. The elimination of Ambrose/Rollins by Reigns (beginning of the end?)
1. SPEAR BY REIGNS ON ZIGGLER!!! SPEAR BY REIGNS ON BATISTA!!!

I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't see the cheering for Reigns as them showing appreciation. I saw it as "anti-cheering" Batista. I think a lot of people in the audience see Batista as a money-mark whose return prevented them from getting what they really wanted - a Daniel Bryan win. So when it got down to Batista and Reigns, the fans pretty much said 'anyone but him,' and Reigns was the beneficiary of that crowd support. At that point, the crowd probably would've cheered for Satan if he had just speared Batista.

This goes with my long-stated opinion that the Yes chants are a revolt from the fans against the vision of VKM and Triple H. They started with an attempted burial of Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28 by Sheamus - a Triple H favorite. The Yes chants - along with moments of people chanting his name - started making their way into non-Daniel Bryan segments as the WWE continued to push him aside for Randy Orton - another Triple H favorite. And now that Daniel Bryan has been ignored in favor of yet another Triple H guy - this time Batista - there's a chance you're about to see a full-on revolution from live crowds. I will watch Raw tonight to see if they can hi-jack the show with Yes chants and Daniel Bryan chants. I would be wholeheartedly shocked if they don't.

As for Reigns, I saw his being cheered along the same lines last night. It was a revolt against Batista - against VKM and HHH's vision that Batista was best for business because he was blessed to be 6'5 and was willing to shoot up with steroids. Now we'll see if Reigns can carry that momentum into tonight's show, but I doubt he will. None of this is to say that I wasn't impressed with Reigns last night or that I'm not impressed with him in general, it's just to say that I don't believe his reaction last night was the result of him impressing the crowd.

And as I say that, I'm actually saddened for Reigns a bit. Last night should have been a big night for him. His push was supposed to begin last night. The crowd was supposed to take notice of him, to remember this Royal Rumble as the night Roman Reigns dominated and emerged as a future WWE Champion. Instead, last night is going to be known as the night the WWE fans shit on the Royal Rumble. Everything he accomplished, effectively drowned out by the jeering of fans pissed off that Daniel Bryan wasn't in the match. His record-breaking performance, but a mere foot note as the crowd's reaction became the real story. The cheers he received as a final-two competitor, nothing but an ironic FU directed at Batista, Triple H and Vince McMahon to show them that they're not at all interested in seeing another one of the company's guys headline WrestleMania over the crowd's guy.

If you're asking which competitor was the most impressive last night, then Roman Reigns is the only answer. But if you're asking who the real star of the show was last night, it was the crowd. For all that Reigns accomplished, most people will always remember this Royal Rumble as the night the crowd booed for 14 of the Rumble's final 15 minutes.

Reigns was absolutely the star of the show last night. When he didn't come out until #15, I thought that might kill any chance of him breaking Kane's record. And by the end of the battle royal, he had Pittsburgh in the palm of his hand. Every person in that arena wanted to see him win it. Granted he was their 2nd choice since Bryan wasn't an entrant, but to be 2nd fiddle to Bryan is still a high compliment in today's WWE. The Rumble is where a lot of stars are made. Reigns was already likely one of the guys that the WWE is basing their future around, but last night just solidified it.

An argument could be made for Punk or Rollins for the amount of time they lasted in the Rumble, but Reigns by far stole the show. It wouldn't shock me for Reigns' push to come even sooner than we thought, and for him to become new WWE WHC as early as SummerSlam.

Reigns was definitely the MVP. He was really impressive - as always- and I can't picture him failing to be a star. 12 eliminations is an awesome way to book him. We know that Reigns is a monster of a guy that can't be stopped and I'm interested to see where they go with it. The fans seem to be leaning towards Reigns rather than Ambrose/Rollins. It is likely he becomes the face when these three properly split and that is an exciting prospect.

Rusev was someone that impressed me as well. He got his debut on the main roster and looked pretty impressive. Kofi was awesome, it was great seeing Nash again and JBL/El Toritio were pretty funny.

The other name is Cesaro. He got a decent amount of time and he looked great. He was getting a very positive reaction to the extent I think he could become a face. The giant swing is simply not a move a heel can use.

The losers: Bryan obviously. Xavier Woods was meant to be in the rumble. I can't help but think HHH got a call from Nash late Saturday night saying he wanted in.... Curtis Axel not being in the rumble shocked me. He was Intercontinental Champion a few months ago and now he didn't get in the Rumble - crazy. He is a decent wrestler and he probably deserves more. They easily could have had Axel and Woods instead of The Uso's but oh well.

MVP was definitely Reigns but Kofi, Rusev and Cesaro also impressed.

I'd definitely say Reigns. He had an awesome performance in the Rumble and he even helped take away the attention from Bryan not being in the match.

From the way things look, they aren't going to push him too fast like they did with Sheamus, seems like they're going the same route as Cena. Cena got eliminated by Batista the year he won the Rumble and ended up main eventing Wrestlemania the following year.

Hopefully, he gets a US title shot at Wrestlemania

I was amazed when I saw this live!
Without a doubt Roman Reigns gave the greatest rumble performance ever by any wrestler last night in his RUMBLE DEBUT!
He proved without a doubt he is great in the ring & he is great on the mic.He has charisma a pesonality - and he and Bryan should be the next stars of this company - as the leaders of the new generation with Rhodes & Ziggler & Big E & Barret etc.

But then The board of directors and whom ever decided to make this bull***t that Batista will win the rumble. This was a publicity move only.
They just don't care about the men that worked hard and deserve the win and the crowd backs them!!
Bryan got his chance destroyed by HHH's man all the time:Sheamus {in his 1st world title reign} & Orton {Summer Slam} & HBK {HIAC - he needed another moment to shine - like he doesnt have a good career already} & Himself {to be a big boss} and now last but not least Batista.
At least I hope with Reigns things will work differently - but I hope so only because he is the cousin of The Rock - otherwise we will have a 2nd Bryan situation with him.

silly thread, Roman Reigns was the standoput participant in the Royal Rumble match, nobody else comes close. Punk lasted 50 minutes and was always going to be in it for a long haul, but eliminating 12 guys and being last man thrown, Roman Reigns hands down.

Silly thread? Thanks a lot, thanks a lot.

I'm surprised that nobody has put up a big fight for Bray Wyatt, who by far had his best match in his WWE career so far against Daniel Bryan.

Beating such a huge star completely clean boosted his career and made him look like a complete main event threat. However, the fact that Reigns beat Kane's record of 11 gave me cause to pick him as the MVP.
