The Raw Ropes: Red or White?

Now before I begin, I just want to say that this is not a thread about me complaining about the colors of the ropes, i just wanna see if people like the new change to white ropes or do you perfer the red ropes which have been Raw's symbol for almost a decade and a half. It obviously changes your viewing of Raw, it definitely gives the show a different "atmosphere" and a different feel, I just wanna see if people like it or not

I like the Red Ropes
The white ones are kind of distracting.
They are a bright white and I kinda find myself looking at them instead of the match because it catches your eye

Who the fuck cares what color the ropes are? Is the color of the rope going to make the difference in a match? No, I dont think so. Honestly, I couldnt care less about what color the ring ropes are. As long as there are superstars competing in between them, I'm fine.

I care about details. I like a balance in color for unity so your eye equally looks at all that is going on instead of just one point...I don't like missing the bigger picture
Just like at work. People eat with there eye's so I like a lot of color coordination in the salad bar for eye appeal and to snag you in.
Color is everywhere and I do think it's important. If color wasn't so important Raws colors would be purple and green for all we care...but there not.
The colors that come to mind when you think of Raw and the over all feeling of 'Raw is War' The color scheme fits with Red being the most dominate color since Red does bring out aggression

Quite a trivial thread to have, I must say. But, to answer your question, red has always been the color that distinguished RAW. So ring ropes = red. White ropes look nice at PPV events, though, especially the big 4. However RAW should have red ropes and Smackdown have blue, since those have always been their traditional colors.

I've never really thought about it. I noticed them in passing the first show they were used but I wouldn't say it matters too much to me. I preferred the red ropes though, now that you bring it up. The all-red ropes are one of the last relics left of the Attitude-era which is when i got into wrestling. I don't dislike the white ropes though and wouldn't say they bother me at all.

I don't know why but i really don't care for the white ropes. Everytime I see the white ropes i start to wonder if they liked taped a different show before Raw like a Saturday Night Main Event or something along those lines. plus there is no white in the Raw logo so whre does the white come from what is red to close to the color of blood or something.

ya know something? i never even noticed the color of the ropes until you just mentioned it.. so obviously i don't care what color they are.. i actually just had to look on youtube for this past Monday to see the ropes.. but if i chose, i definitely pick red, since when i think of Raw, i think of red.. just like smackdown and blue.. but i really don't care, the ropes could be polka dotted for all i care

The color of the ropes shouldn't matter being wrestling fans. I prefer the red ropes cause I've been watching Raw since the pilot episode. It's nice to have the traditional color, but the rope colors don't matter to me in the end.

Raw is Red/Black , Smackdown is blue/silvery white, why change that
It gives both shows a seperate look

Overall it makes no difference but then again why bother changing it, unless they were just condensing equipment to save on costs I dunno

I liked the Red ropes personally. I remember when the first episode of RAW with the HD set came out, I had wondered just how they would make every show seem more different now that they were going with a universal set. Having different ring rope colors was a good way to tell the shows apart.

At least NXT didn't go with the yellow ring ropes. It would make NXT look like CZW.

Nowadays the color is strictly determined by the décor for the show. Whatever color ropes the artistic designers feel is best for the set, is what they go with. So Extreme Rules will probably be black or grey, to fit with the HC nature of the show. Basically since all PPVs are Tri-Branded, the ring ropes no longer stick with brands, just with what looks good.

But, thinking to my past with the WWF/E...

-Red, White, & Blue ropes were used for every WWF event until 1997 (save two events).
-Black/Gold/Black was used for WrestleMania's IX and X.
-The first Smackdown (Smackdown Special April 1999) had Red Ropes.
-All RAW and Smackdown branded PPVs had their respective colors except Great American Bash, which used classic WWF ropes (even after the split).
-PPVs in 2000 began having all black ropes, whereas Rumble and Mania in 2007 had white ropes.
-NXT has used yellow ropes on occasion.
-Bragging rights had half-red half-blue ropes
-Orange ropes were used for WrestleMania XXIV.
-Silver ropes were used at Extreme Rules.

wow u really make a post about ring ropes...i think they should have raw red, smackdown blue, nxt gold, and ppvs red and blue since its combined ppvs and i like the black ones for wrestlemania

I like the white ropes my self because the red ropes are getting old. But it really shouldent matter because wwe should be about whats goin on in the ring not what color the ring ropes are.

Red. The first time I saw the white ropes on Raw there were an eye sore.

Someone listed details about the PPV ropes and what not. I really like what they did with bragging rights, and I agree the PPV should have different ropes.

On a similar note, what is the difference between TNA and WWE ropes? I know the TNA ropes are very smooth but don't have as much give, almost as if they stay perfectly still and are just there to keep wrestlers in the ring. WWE ropes have almost a crinkle to them and seem to have much more give. Is there some sort of physical difference or just aesthetic?

I don't really care, it doesn't change my view of Raw...However seen as it has been red for a long time, I don't see why they changed it..But either way, im not fussy...

The ropes changed? I never even noticed, It's not the biggest of deals. But I guess to answer, RAW should be red, because red IS of course RAW's color. But if they keep em' white, I won't really care.

I never took too much notice.

But if they could create a high tinsel-strength clear rope I would be all for it. It'd be cool to watch the talent freak out for two of three days (a Live show and two house shows.)

All and all, branded ropes and then PPV & Themed Event Ropes seems to do the trick for me.

I really didn't notice the ropes till recently. I think they look alright. But the red made it the RAW color, and they still have the raw in red on the apron. But I think it does look better in HD. But I don't think anyone really cares. This could just be another way they are taking ways of cutting costs. I see they use it for PPV's as well, if I'm not mistaken. But I don't really see why some people think its a big deal about the ring ropes. If they do think its a big travesty, then what part of the show are you watching to begin with?

I have to be honest I hadn't even realised they had changed. So it really doesn't matter to me at all, I watch the wrestling on the inside not the outside of the ring.

Red or burgundy. Red fits the show better, but if their too bright they may be distracting, so I think red or dark red would work.

P.S. @Saritafan: You act like your going to start a gang war or something...the red or white rope supporters arn't going to kill each other

I knew ppl were gonna say it shouldnt matter and doesnt change the match but that's not the point. It should be red, not white. Hell, the primary and secondary colors are red & black and then white's the third color, SD's are blue and white then like silver is the 3rd color

They should use red for Raw & blue for SD.

There's no need to change everything. If SD suddenly used purple ropes, yes that would be an issue.

I absolutely despise those white ropes. They change stupid stuff sometimes that's fine the way it is

If they changed the announce tables to being wooden ones, I'd complain, if they changed the from the titantron to a curtain like at house shows, I'd complain and if they changed the music to a disney song for the SD! intro I'd complain (although disney music is lovely, but just not fitting to a wrestling show)

Like white ropes just dont fit with Raw's red theme

Definitely red men, White ropes should be used for PPV's, I remember Wrestlemania 23 I watched live on ppv, and the ropes were white it was good, different, but for a ppv, not raw.

Raw Ropes should be red or black.

Im still waiting for them to bring back the Red, White, and Blue ropes from the 1980's. Those were classy ropes for a classy time in pro wrestling. So when are they going to bring back the red, white, and blue that is the real question here.
