Just finished my third viewing. Each time, I become more strongly convinced that this film is being wrongly maligned. People have their preconceived biases about what does and doesn't make for a good movie, and this movie ticks more than a few boxes in the "doesn't" column. And while I have a couple bones to pick with the movie, the positives vastly outweigh the negative. This is art, not science. People shouldn't let breaking the alleged "rules" be so damning, especially when we're talking about something which is as serialized as these films. You want your MCU? The rules change a little. Deal with it.I liked it more than the first.
While we're at it with movies, Michael Mann's Miami Vice is one of the best movies of the previous decade.
Age Of Ultron is a genuinely very good movie and people will come around to it in a few years time.
Doubt anyone tops that.
Another unpopular-but-actually-somewhat popular opinion, of course, is that all superhero movies are the same.
Which is an oversimplification, but I see what such people mean. The format is rather formulaic for the most part, which is partly why I liked Ant Man so much.
